White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for July 1-8 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

July 1

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a county fire department radio had been stolen from a fire truck.

Report of property damage in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had damaged her vehicle while it was parked at a local parking lot.

Report of an open door — Officer located several doors open on a vacant business. The owner of the business was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen his mediation.

Report of a fire — Report was given to BLM.

Report of a death — Officer reported that a resident of McGill died due to a self-inflected gunshot wound. The name of the Deceased will be released when the next of kin is notified.

Report of debris in the roadway — Report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of an accident — Report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of threats — Officer received a report of an individual threatening a public official. Investigation continues.

Report of an accident — Charlie White of Ely was operating a motorcycle on an un-maintained portion of a roadway. His passenger on the motorcycle stated that she had passed out due to unknown reasons and fell of the motorcycle. The passenger was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog with puppies left without water. The animals were collected by Animal Control. The owner will be issued a citation when located.

Report of a public nuisance — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.

Report of a 911 hang up — The residence was checked and no problems were located.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that further assistance will be requested in the home.

New bookings — None.

July 2

Report of an attempt to locate — Reporting party stated that one of his employees took a company truck and hasn’t been seen for a few days. Officers are attempting to locate the individual.

Report of an agency assist — Officer assisted DCFS on the removal of several children from a residence.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a found body — Report was given to Nye County Sheriff’s Office, due to jurisdiction.

Report of a trespasser — Reporting party stated that a friend of hers was found inside of her home. She wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that she had sold her house and that the new owner took all her property that was left in the house to the dump. She was advised it was a civil problem due to the change of ownership of the residence.

Report of an attempted burglary in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had attempted to gain entry into her residence by prying on her door. The incident was documented.

Report of debris in the roadway in Ely — DOT was contacted who removed the cement from the roadway.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Brandon D. Lawrence age 29 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a hit and run accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a sign and then left the area. During the officers investigation the operator of the vehicle was identified as Jimmy C. Chester of Ely. Chester was issued a citation for hit and run property damage.

Report of a citizen’s assist — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she needed medical assistance. She was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a shoplifter in Ely — Officer received a report of an individual who had entered into a local business establishment and stole numerous items. The individual was later identified as Vincent J. Pierce age 24 Redding, ID. Pierce had fled the scene and while doing so attempted the scale a barbed wire fence. Pierce’s leg became entangled in the fence leaving him suspended upside down. Officers requested Ely Fire who cut Pierce out of the fence. Pierce was arrested for, burglary, petit larceny, injury to property and trespassing.

Report of an attempt to locate in Ely — Reporting party stated that her juvenile sister left the home without permission. The juvenile was located and returned home.

New bookings — Brandon D. Lawrence, Ely Municipal Court warrant, contempt of court, bail $989; Vincent J. Pierce, burglary, petit larceny, injury to property and trespassing, bail $10,000; Wesley E. Blackwell, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a dangerous drug, and transporting a controlled substance, bail $95,000, arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol; Morris L. Falder, serving time; Carissa N. Rougeoux, intimidating a public official, bail $5,000; James M. Spriggs, serving time.

July 3

Report of vandalism — The reporting party claimed several pieces of heavy machinery were damaged while parked in a rural area. A report was completed.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — In good health, the subject was found to be.

Report of a trash problem — The reporting party complained that someone was dumping their trash in a privately owned dumpster. The alleged suspect was located and advised to remove the trash and dispose of it properly.

Report of trespassers in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone was in his residence. When officers arrived, the alleged suspects had left. The reporting party didn’t believe anything was stolen, and wanted the suspects trespassed from his property. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Report of found property in Ely — Property was found abandoned. It was placed into lost and found.

Report of an animal problem — The reporting party was concerned about a dog in an unoccupied truck, due to the heat. A deputy checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.

Report of an accident in Ely — Rory Jay Jewett, of Wells, backed from a parked position and struck property owned by the City of Ely. A report was completed.

Report of vandalism — An employee of a local recreational aquatic center reported several juveniles had vandalized the restroom. The juveniles were located and cleaned the facility to the employee’s satisfaction.

Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — The reporting party claimed to have seen a suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the alleged vehicle.

July 4

Report of a prowler in Ely — The reporting party claimed to hear someone walking around her residence. Deputies checked the area, but found no one around the building.

Report of threats — The reporting party showed officers a threatening message left near her residence. The investigation continues.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — An employee of a local betting house reported a male was sleeping on the floor of the two. The subject was awoken and directed to his room, which he complied.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject checked ok.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party was upset because her landlord was shutting off her power and water due to her not paying any bills or any rent. She was advised the issue was civil, and to handle it accordingly.

Report of a reckless driver — Deputies patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the alleged vehicle.

Report of a domestic dispute in Ely — It was discovered that both parties were only arguing. One party left the residence without incident.

Report of an accident in Ely — Charles Dudley, of Ely, failed to yield while exiting a private drive and struck a vehicle driven by Jeff Weir, of Ely. Dudley was issued a citation and a report was completed.

Report of harassment in Ely — The reporting party said a male came to her residence and threatened her. A report was completed.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — Deputies were unable to locate the offending driver.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officers discovered that both parties had only argued and they had separated prior to law enforcement arrival.

Report of a parking problem in Ely — A deputy observed a vehicle illegally parked. The owner, identified as David Nardi, of Lund, was later contacted and issued a citation.

Report of a disturbance in Ely — Officers were unable to locate any kind of disturbance in the area.

Report of a prowler in Ely — Officers checked the area, but found no one near the reporting party’s residence.

Report of pyrotechnic display of celebration — Deputies patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the origin.

Report of fireworks in Ely — Several subjects were located in the area and warned about their actions.

Report of fireworks in Ely — Two subjects were located and their explosive pyrotechnic devices used for aesthetic, cultural, and religious purposes were confiscated.

Report of fireworks in Ely — Several people were located and their firecrackers were confiscated.

Report of fireworks in Ely — Several subjects were found to be in possession of a device containing gunpowder and other combustible chemicals that causes a spectacular explosion when ignited, used typically for display or in celebrations, which were confiscated.

Report of fireworks in Ely — Deputies patrolled the area, but were unable to pinpoint the origin.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party complained that a neighbor’s dog had been barking constantly since the neighbor left town. The reporting party was allowed to sign a complaint, which will be issued when the neighbor returns home.

Report of suspicious subjects — Deputies patrolled the area, but found no one suspicious in nature.

July 5

Report of a possible drunk driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a suspicious subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that he observed several individuals attempting to get into parked cars. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a found dog in Ely — The dog was taken to the Ely dog pound.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Michael L. Perez age 48 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation.

Report of a dog bite in Ely — Reporting party stated that her child had been bitten by the family dog. The child received medical attention at E.R.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of lost property — Reporting party stated that he had gotten a ride with an individual, but had left some of his property in the car. Officers are attempting to locate the operator of the vehicle.

Report of fireworks in Ely — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that an argument had occurred at his residence and that one of the individuals involved threatened to shot everyone. Officers reported that the individual was identified as Raymond P. Thomas of Ely. Due to his intoxicated state he was held for civil protective custody.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statement. The parties separated for the night.

New bookings — Michael L. Perez, probation violation, no bail; Raymond P. Thomas, civil protective custody, release when sober.

July 6

Report of a possible fight in Ely — Officers received a report of a large group gathering outside a local bar. The group was contacted and no fight was located. The group was dispersed.

Report of a problem with a subject — The report was given to Ely Tribal.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who are going through a separation. The parties separated for the day.

Report of a found scooter — The scooter was placed into lost and found.

Report of a found wallet in Ely — The owner of the wallet will be contacted.

Report of a suspicious vehicle in Ely — The vehicle was located and no crime had occurred.

Report of dog abuse in Ely — Reporting party stated that she witnessed an individual kick a dog. Investigation continues.

Report of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen some items from a local business establishment. No suspects were identified. The incident was documented.

Report of a dog at large — Officer located the dog running at large and identified the owner as KC Valdez. He was issued a citation for dog at large.

Report of an accident — Carisa Angelipous of Meridian, ID stated that her vehicle had rolled down a hill and struck a parked vehicle belonging to Douglas Thornburg of McGill. An accident report was completed.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Jeremy J. Rice age 33 of Ely was arrested for DUI, second offense, reckless driving, driving revoked, and obstructing a police officer.

Report of threats in Ely — Reporting party stated that his neighbor was threatening to harm him. Officer contacted the neighbor who denied the allegation. They were advised to stay away from each other.

Report of suspicious vehicles in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicles were not located.

New bookings — Jeremy J. Rice, DUI, second offense, reckless driving, driving revoked and obstructing a police officer, bail $2,865; Robert A. McDaniel, Ely Municipal Court warrant, contempt of court, no bail.

July 7

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that she observed several juveniles playing around a county building. The area was patrolled, but no juveniles were located.

Report of a fight in Ely — Officer contacted one of the individuals involved who stated that he had a verbal argument with his mother. He was advised to keep the peace.

Report of a hit and run accident in Ely — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a fence and then fled the scene. Officer located the vehicle which was parked and unoccupied. Officer contacted several individuals involved who denied operating the vehicle. Investigation continues.

Report of a fight/arrest in Ely — Officer received a report of a group of people involved in a fight. Officer located a vehicle involved in the incident and during the officers investigation arrested the operator who was identified as Christopher C. Cameron age 41 of Ely. Cameron was arrested for stopping in a roadway, Felony DUI, and driving on a restricted license.

Report of a cow in the roadway — Officer located the animal a herded it off the roadway.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual had obtained some inappropriate photos of her and had them on his cell phone. The individual was contacted and advised to destroy the photos.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Wade C. Mulliner age 41 of Ely was arrested for driving revoked.

Report of an accident — Report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a fire — Report was given to BLM.

Report of an accident in Ely — Officer patrolled the area, but no accident was located.

Report of an accident — Edward Herrera of Ruth was operating a vehicle on US 50 when he struck a cow causing damage to his vehicle. A report was completed.

New bookings — Christopher C. Cameron, felony DUI, stopping in a roadway and driving on a restricted license, bail $10,000; Wade C. Mulliner, driving revoked, bail $1,480; Tony E. Griffin Jr., Ely Justice Court warrant, contempt of court, bail $1,257; David R. Pritchett, serving time.

July 8

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a dog problem — Officer contacted the owner of the barking dog and advised him about the complaint.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Officer patrolled the area, but no juveniles with BB guns were located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had used her debit card without her permission. Investigation continues.

Report of a speeding vehicle — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and advised him about the complaint. He denied the allegations.

Report of a hit and run accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had struck his vehicle and then left the scene. A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that a juvenile was walking a dog and allowing it to attack her dog through the fence. Contact was made with the juvenile and also his mother they were advised of the complaint.

Report of a trespasser in Ely — Reporting party stated that his friends wouldn’t leave his home. When officers arrived the friends had left the residence.

Report of a stolen bike in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen his bike.

Report of a fight in Ely — Reporting party stated that a neighbor came to his residence causing a disturbance. When officers arrived the neighbor had left the area.

Report of an open door in Ely— Officer located an open door on a local business establishment. The door was secured.
