Public is asked to drive with caution due to fire vehicles and personnel working in the area.
Start Date: July 5, 2013
Location: Approximately 40 miles southwest of Ely, in the Currant Mountain Wilderness.
Assigned Resources: 2 handcrews, 2 water tenders, 1 helicopter, and miscellaneous overhead personnel.
Observed Fire Behavior: The fire moved westward toward the ridgeline and continues to remain in a large bowl. Small uphill runs are continuing to occur with some group torching.
Today’s Weather Forecast: Breezy with winds 15-25, gusts up to 35 mph, temperatures 77-92.
Fuel Types: Short grass, White Fir, Limber Pine, Pinion-Juniper, mahogany, low sage flats.
Actions Planned: Assess contingency line and mop-up control lines. Hold and control the fireline to secure southern and northern sections of fire.
Comments: The fire is winding down, some resources have been released. Due to the steep terrain, safety of the firefighters is the primary concern. In accessible portions of the fire, crews will continue to mop-up and secure the fireline.
