White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for August 13-19 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

August 13

Report of a child custody dispute in Ely — Officer advised the reporting party to contact the father of her child and make arraignments for him to pick up the child.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that a individual was sleeping in the parking lot of a local business. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that she wanted a individual trespassed from her property. Officer contacted the parties involved who worked out the situation.

Report of a found dog in Ely — The owner was located and the dog returned.

Report of a found bike in Ely — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that she had received inappropriate pictures on her cell phone form a family member approximately a year ago. The incident was documented and she was advised to seek a harassment order.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of found items in Ely — Reporting party found a drivers license and credit cards. The items were placed into lost and found.

Report of an accident in Ely — Brenda Atwood of Ely was operating a vehicle entering onto East Aultman Street from 15th Street. She failed to yield to a on coming vehicle being operated by Donna Sjogren of Ely. Atwood’s vehicle struck Sjogren’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Atwood was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Andrew S. Toomey age 33 of Ely was arrested on a Dayton, NV Justice Court warrant for domestic battery. He was also detained for driving suspended.

Report of an open door in Ely — Officer located an open door on a closed business. The business was checked and the door secured.

New bookings — Andrew S. Toomey, Dayton Justice Court warrant, domestic battery, bail $500, driving suspended, bail $740; Morris L. Falder, serving time; Alan Lafferty, serving time.

August 14

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Elizabeth M. Faver age 23 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of shots fired — Officer received a report of shots being fired near a county residence. The reporting party who occupied a camp trailer reported that several bullets had struck her trailer. When the deputy arrived on scene his patrol vehicle and another building were struck by bullets. Officers located a male juvenile in the vicinity who was shooting at chipmunks and other small animals. His bullets were traveling through the air striking the buildings, and patrol car. The parent of the juvenile was contacted and advised of her son’s actions. The matter will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of an accident in Ely — Richard Oxborrow of Ely was operating a vehicle and had stopped to make a turn from East Aultman Street onto 8th Street. A vehicle being operated by Christopher Bradley of Ely was following to close to Oxborrows vehicle and failed to stop in time striking the rear of his vehicle. An accident report was completed and Bradley was issued a citation for following to close.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a possible violation of a court order in Ely — Officer contacted the reporting party and advised that no violation had occurred.

Report of a sexual assault in Ely — Reporting party stated that while visiting a friend she was inappropriately touched by the friend. Investigation continues.

Report of a panhandler in Ely — Officer contacted the individual and advised him of the complaint. He left the area.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that her juvenile son had been battered. Investigation continues.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a possible prowler — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a problem with a renter — Reporting party stated that she checked on one of her rental properties and noticed that the gas stove had been left on. She spoke to the renter about the problem and he denied the allegation. The incident was documented.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer located the dog at large and issued a citation to the owner for dog at large. The owner of the dog was identified as Jody M. Bradshaw of Ely.

Report of a subject sleeping in a city park in Ely — Officer located the individual who was intoxicated. A friend was contacted who assisted the individual to his motel room.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

New bookings — Elizabeth M. Faver, Ely Municipal Court warrant, contempt of court, bail $452.

August 15

Report of vandalism — The report was unfounded.

Report of a juvenile problem — Several children were reportedly playing near the highway. The children were located and advised to keep their distance. Their mother was also advised of the incident.

Report of a water violation in Ely — The reporting party complained about a local resident leaving the outside water on for days. The owner of the home was contacted and turned off the water.

Report of a suspicious subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male was allegedly attempting to speak to several underage juveniles in an apartment complex. The male was later located and denied the allegations. The male was trespassed from the apartment complex.

Report of an alarm — The residence was checked and found to be secure.

Report of a suspicious subject — The reporting party said someone came to his residence claiming to be with the Census Bureau. The investigation continues.

Report of property damage in Ely — The reporting party claimed a vehicle struck part of the structure on a local convenience store. The vehicle then left the area, unaware of the damage. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Report of a traffic hazard in Ely — The reporting party complained about fabrication appurtenances near a road was causing a precarious situation, along with imprudent operation of the assembly contrivances. Officers checked the area, but found nothing hazardous.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — The reporting party claimed dogs were without water and the yard where they lived was unclean. The owner was contacted and advised she had until next week to clean the yard, or risk being issued a citation. The dogs were also given water.

Report of damage to a vehicle in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone damaged his vehicle while it was parked in a private parking lot. A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male subject yelled obscenities at him. A report was completed.

Report of harassment in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male drove by and yelled obscenities at him. A report was completed.

Report of a barking dog in Ely — The reporting party complained about a neighbor’s dogs barking. The owner was contacted and he silenced the dogs.

Report of a barking dog in Ely — Officers were unable to locate the offending dog.

August 16

Report of a disturbance in Ely — Officer located several subjects that were having a party. They were advised to keep the noise down.

Report of a found bike in Ely — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a bad check in Ely — The check was collected from the business establishment and turned over to the District Attorneys Office for collections.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Chad Thacker age 34 of Ely was arrested for driving revoked.

Report of a found purse in Ely — The owner of the purse was contacted and the item was returned.

Report of a fire — Officer received a report of several juveniles that had started a fire. Officer contacted the juveniles who had been playing with matches and had set some grass and a shed on fire. Neighbors were able to put the fire out. Officer contacted the parents and advised them of the problem. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a death — Officer received a report of a young female that had been transported to E.R but had been pronounced dead upon arrival. Officer reported that the female was identified as Melissa K. Bliefert age 29 of Ely. Bliefert was taken to the Clark County Coroners Office to determine her cause of death.

August 17

Report of an intoxicated subject in Ely — Officer located the individual who was making his way home.

Report of a burglary in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into her home and stole some money and personal items.

Report of found keys in Ely — The keys were placed into lost and found.

Report of a trespasser in Ely — Officer contacted the individual who was advised not to return to the property.

Report of a violation of a court order in Ely — No violation had occurred, but the recipient of the order was served.

Report of a snake in a home in Ely — Officer located the snake and removed it from the home.

Report of a stolen license plate in Ely — Reporting party stated that some one had stolen his license plate. A report was completed.

Report of an ATV disturbance in Ely — Officer received a report of several ATV’S being rode and causing a disturbance on a city street. Officer located two juveniles riding the ATV’S. They were issued citations and their parents were notified.

Report of a battery in Ely — Reporting party stated that her juvenile son had been battered by another juvenile while playing at a local park. Investigation continues.

Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the occupants. Officer reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a disturbance in Ely — Officer patrolled the area, but the loud music was not located.

Report of a fight in Ely — Officer reported that when he arrived the parties involved had separated. Officer attempted to locate the individuals involved, but were unsuccessful.

Report of a found phone — Officer reported that a phone had been located at the fair grounds. It was placed into lost and found.

Report of a barking dog in Ely — Officer located the barking dogs and reported that several puppies along with several adult dogs were continually barking. The dogs were collected by Animal Control.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer received a report of a dog that had been left inside a car. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer received a report of a dog tangled in its chain. Officer contacted the owner and advised him of the problem.

Reportt of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that two bikes had been stolen from her residence.

Report of an accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that a vehicle had struck his fence and then left the scene. Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and he made arraignments with the owner of the fence to repair it.

Report of a fire — Report was given to Ely BLM.

Report of an accident — Darrell Thompson of Duckwater, NV was operating a vehicle traveling on US 6 when he struck a deer, causing damage to his vehicle. A report was completed.

Report of a dog bite — Reporting party stated that her son had been bitten by a dog. Officer is attempting to locate the owner to issue her a citation for dangerous dog.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Evan Bitsinnie age 25 of Tuba City, AZ was arrested for basic speed, failure to maintain lane of travel, and DUI.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer patrolled the area, but was unable to locate the barking dogs.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer located the dog at large and he was taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

August 19

Report of suspicious subjects in Ely — The reporting party claimed several subjects had damaged a tree and a fence near his home. The area was checked and the subjects could not be located. Additionally, there was no evidence of any damage to any trees or fence in the area.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party found several deleterious objects in the roadway near his home. A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Deputies discussed the importance of keeping dangerous items out of the hands of children with a juvenile and her family after in incident occurred.

Report of a burglary in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone attempted to break into his residence. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed several items were stolen and believed a family member stole them. The reporting party wanted law enforcement to recover the property without filing criminal charges. When advised that charges would be filed, the reporting party declined to file a report.

Report of an ATV problem in Ely — Two juveniles were reportedly riding on private property, causing damage. The two juveniles were contacted and agreed to put their vehicles away and repair what they had done.

Report of a sex crime in Ely — The reporting party claimed there was inappropriate contact between two juveniles. The investigation continues.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party claimed his dogs got into a fight and injured a child. A report was completed.

Report of an ATV disturbance in Ely — Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate the offending vehicles.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claims an adult is involved in a relationship with her minor child. The minor child is of the age of consent. A report was completed.

Report of a TPO violation in Ely — The reporting party claimed she had a valid extended protection order and the adverse party had violated said order. The adverse party was identified as 34-year-old Ely resident Chad Thacker. Thacker was later arrested for violating the extended order for protection.

Report of a fight — Deputies located the source of the disturbance and found family members were arguing.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Several children were reportedly riding their bikes in the roadway. The children were located and warned about the dangers of their actions.

Report of a disturbance in Ely — The reporting party claimed there were several people creating a disturbance. Deputies checked the area, but could find no evidence of a disturbance.

New bookings — Cody Holland, serving time for District Court’ Gerard Barela, hold for Nevada Department of Corrections; Chad Thacker, violation of an extended order for protection, bail $10,000.
