White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Sept. 17-23 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

September 17

Report of a suspicious subject in Ely — Officer received a report of an individual banging on a door at a local business establishment. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as Michael I. Carlgren age 39 of Ely. Carlgren was arrested for obstructing a police officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Report of bad checks in Ely — The checks were collected and turned over to the District Attorneys Office for collections.
Report of a reckless driver — The vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.
Report of a threat in Ely — Reporting party stated that a juvenile had posted a threat on Facebook towards students at a local school. The juvenile and her parent were contacted and the incident was documented.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that an individual was causing a disturbance at his place of business. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the area.
Report of a lost cell phone in Ely — A report was completed.
Report of harassment in Ely — Reporting party stated that his neighbor was causing problems by playing his music loud and other disturbances. The reporting party was advised to call the Sheriff’s Office when the problems are occurring.
Report of possible child abuse in Ely — Reporting party stated that a small child was riding in the front seat of a vehicle. The incident was documented.
Report of an accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had struck his vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. A report was completed.
Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that several dogs were attacking another dog. Officer contacted the owner of the dogs and advised her of the complaint. All the dogs involved belonged to the same person.
Report of an alarm — False alarm.
New bookings — Michael I. Carlgren, obstructing a police officer, possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, bail $2,135.

September 18

Report of a hit and run accident — Reporting party stated that a vehicle had struck two of his vehicles while they were parked in front of his residence. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. Officer reported that the striking vehicle was located and the investigation continues.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual was not located.
Report of a trespasser in Ely — Reporting party stated that a vehicle had parked on his private property. When officers arrived the vehicle was not located.
Report of truancy in Ely — The juveniles were issued citations for truancy and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.
Report of a reckless driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and warned her about her driving behavior.
Report of possible fraud — Reporting party stated that an individual is selling mining claims that don’t belong to him. Investigation continues.
Report of an accident in Ely — Ronald Huffaker of Ephraim, UT was operating a vehicle turning from Aultman St. onto Great Basin Blvd. He failed to yield to a vehicle being operated Cristina Lerch of Ely. Lerch’s vehicle struck Huffaker’s vehicle. An accident report was completed and Huffaker was issued a citation for failure to yield.
Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.
Report of a fight in Ely — Officer reported that no fight had occurred, only a intoxicated male subject who was being disruptive at a local bar. The individual’s friend provided him a place to sleep.
New bookings — Jose l. Espejel-Elizalde, driving on suspended license and basic speed, bail $915, arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol; Morris L. Falder, serving time.

September 19

Report of a disturbance in Ely — Several juveniles were reportedly riding a motor vehicle equipped with a seat or a saddle for the use of the driver and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, specifically for use on rough terrain, such as unsurfaced roads or tracks, and used especially in scrambling. The reporting party complained that they were riding said vehicle upon a paved and maintained city street. When deputies arrived, no vehicle was present, but they spoke to a subject clad in accouterment that would lead a reasonable and prudent person to believe he was the operant. The male was admonished about riding on the city streets.
Report of a trespassing in Ely — The reporting party believed someone was in her home while she was away. Officers arrived and found a female in the home. Per the reporting party, the female was asked to return when the reporting party was home.  The female left without incident.
New Bookings — Tina L Griffin, serving time for Drug Court; Brandon Clifford Neibauer, serving time for Ely Justice Court.

September 20

Report of possession of a controlled substance in Ely — Officer received a report of an individual who had showed up for a court appearance and was in possession of a controlled substance. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as Ronald T. Gallegos of Ely. During the officers investigation Gallegos was issued a citation for possession of marijuana.
Report of a civil problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had his vehicle fixed at a local repair shop. When he picked it up, after the repairs were done the vehicle was still broken. He was advised it was a civil problem.
Report of sheep in the roadway — The owner of the sheep was contacted and advised of the problem.
Report of an attempted burglary — Reporting party stated that someone had attempted to gain access to her place of employment. The incident was documented.
Report of an ATL — Reporting party stated that her child had been locked in a local Day Care facility after it had closed. The child was able to unlock the door. The operators of the facility were notified of the problem.
Report of an alarm — False alarm.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — Officer contacted the individual who was sleeping under a tree. Officer reported that the individual was fine.
Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Tyler J. Robison age 29 of Ely was arrested for DUI, first offense, basic speed and no driver’s license in possession.
New bookings — Tyler J. Robison, DUI, first offense, basic speed and no driver’s license in possession, bail $1,060; Timothy J. Atkins, serving time.

September 21

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian in Ely — Officer contacted the individual who was identified as Donald J. Stephens age 52 of Pleasant Hill, CA. He was arrested for disturbing the peace and ex- felon failure to register.
Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — Reporting party stated that he heard a loud noise and thought there had been a vehicle accident. Officer contacted the parties involved who had been engaged in a verbal argument. They were warned about keep the peace.
Report of an accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that he observed a vehicle back into another vehicle and that the striking vehicle had left the scene. Officer contacted the owner of the parked vehicle and identified her as Catherine Thompson of Ely. The damage to her vehicle was documented. Officer then contacted the owner of the striking vehicle who was identified as Kathleen Brewer of Ely. Brewer didn’t know she had struck the other vehicle. An accident report was completed.
Report of a reckless driver in Ely — Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the operator. She was advised and warned about her driving behavior.
Report of an accident in Ely — Donald Rowe of Ely was operating a vehicle on Aultman Street. He changed lanes and when doing so he failed to see a vehicle being operated by Alicia Searle of Ely. Rowes vehicle struck Searle’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Rowe was issued a citation for failure to maintain lane of travel.
Report of vandalism — Reporting party stated that someone had damaged a vacant building. The incident was documented.
Report of an accident — Thomas Wicky of Palm Beach FL. Was operating a vehicle on US 50 when another vehicle passing him blew a tire. The tire caused damage to Wicky’s vehicle. The accident was not investigated at the scene. The incident was documented.
Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.
Report of a traffic hazard in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had placed several traffic cones in the roadway. The cones were removed.

September 22

Report of a fight in Ely — Officer received a report of a fight that had occurred at a local bar. Officer contacted the parties involved who provided conflicting statements. The parties were separated and the investigation continues.
Report of a dog problem in Ely — Officer received a report of a dog that was locked inside a vehicle. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local bar. Officer reported that the individual had left the bar before he paid his tab. Officer reported that the individual was identified as Randy D. Mullins age 31 of Ely. Mullins was arrested for obstructing a police officer.
Report of a fight in Ely — Officer contacted several people who were involved in a verbal argument. The parties involved were separated and warned about disturbing the peace.
Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statements. One of the parties involved was taken to E.R. by ambulance due to an unrelated medical problem.
Report of a suspicious subject in Ely — When officers arrived the individual had left the area.
Report of an alarm — False alarm.

September 23

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual was contacted and he was taken to E.R. by ambulance.
Report of a death in Ely — Officer reported that Francis Horace age 76 of Ely died of natural causes. He had been transported to E.R. by ambulance, but died due to medical conditions.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that an individual who had been trespassed from his place of employment was back. The individual was contacted and identified as Michael I. Carlgren age 39 of Ely. Officer reported that Carlgren was arrested for open and gross lewdness. He is accused of exposing himself to the public.
Report of vandalism — Reporting party stated that someone had thrown several lawn chairs into the McGill Pool. The incident was documented.
Report of truancy in Ely — Officer investigated the incident and reported that the student possible moved out of the Ely area.
Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.
Report of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his unlocked vehicle and removed several items.
Report of a battery in Ely— Reporting party stated that a student had punched another student during school. The parties involved will be contacted and the school had already proceeded with disciplinary procedures.
Report of a stolen vehicle — The vehicle was located and no crime had occurred.
Report of a found item in Ely — Reporting party found a container of cassette tapes. They were placed into lost and found.
Report of a subject threatening suicide in Ely — The individual was contacted and her problems were worked out with the subjects involved.
Report of a trespasser in Ely — Officers patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.
Report of an alarm in Ely — False alarm.
