September 24

Report of an unattended death in Ely — Clifford Hoffman passed away at his residence.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and in good health.

Report of bad checks in Ely — The reporting party received several checks from an individual, which were all written on a closed account. The investigation continues.

Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male was taking pictures of her car.  Contact was made with the subject, who admitted to liking cars and taking their picture. No crime.

Report of a theft in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone stole some money from her home. The investigation continues.

Report of harassment in Ely — The reporting party claimed to have gotten an obscene phone call from an acquaintance. The subject was contacted and admitted to making the phone call, but meant his comment to be funny. The subject was advised not to call the reporting party again.

Report of an injury to property in Ely — The reporting party claimed a transparent or translucent opening in his vehicle, which allows the passage of light and, if not closed or sealed, air and sound, had inexplicably disintegrated with no causation. A report was completed.

Report of a prowler in Ely — The reporting party believed someone was trying to enter her home. Deputies checked the home and surrounding area, but found no one.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party saw a light on in a vacant house. The house was checked and found to be secure.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — The vehicle was tagged for removal.

Report of an accident in Ely — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a stop sign. Samuel Derbidge of Ely was operating a vehicle and he failed to see the stop sign running it over. Derbide was issued a citation for driving on right side required.

Report of a suspicious vehicle in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a sheep in the roadway — The owner was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a public nuisance in Ely — Officer contacted the owner of the residence and advised him to clean up the garbage.

Report of an agency assist — Officer assisted an outside agency on the investigation of a possible sexual assault.

Report of a low flying aircraft — Officer received a report of a helicopter flying very low scaring livestock. Investigation continues.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Officer contacted the subject and reported that no crime had occurred. She was provided transportation to a family members home.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Deanna L. More age 55 of McGill was arrested for illegally stopping on highway, license plate light, and DUI, first offense.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of shots fired in Ely — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

September 26

Report of a noise disturbance in Ely — The reporting party complained about a neighbor having a cacophonous bacchanal. The neighbor was contacted and advised to be less clamorous. The neighbor complied.

Report of fraud in Ely — The reporting party received a check for merchandise, but later found the check was fraudulent. A report was completed.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and found to be ok.

Report of a bad check — The reporting party received a check, for services rendered, which was returned for non-sufficient funds. The check author was contacted and advised the check was being turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone broke into her residence. It was later learned it was a former roommate removing her own property.

Report of a burglary in Ely — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole items from his vehicle. The investigation continues.

Report of fraud in Ely — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject forged and fraudulently cashed one of her personal checks. The investigation continues.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — The reporting party claimed her minor child had not attended a school function, as the child claimed. The minor was later located with another juvenile. Both juveniles were taken into custody and later released to their parent/guardian. A report was completed, which will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a suspicious vehicle in Ely — When deputies arrived, the vehicle was gone.

September 27

Report of a trespasser in Ely — The reporting party claimed two unwanted subjects were on privately owned property. One of the subjects, identified as Ely resident Brittany Best, was issued a citation for trespassing. The other subject left without incident.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Christina Lerch was arrested on a warrant at the Public Safety Building.

Report of an arrest in Ely — A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 38-year-old Michigan resident Richard Paul. Paul was later arrested for driving under the influence.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party saw two subjects trying to get into an unoccupied parked vehicle. Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate the subjects.

September 28 

Report of a suspicious vehicle  — The vehicle was found parked and unoccupied.

Report of a welfare check — The reporting party wanted a welfare check on a juvenile allegedly hitchhiking. The female was later located at her residence and found to be in good health.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party found an abandoned freezer containing several skinned animals. The animals were determined to be coyotes and bobcats. A report was completed.

Report of a suicidal subject in Ely — The subject was located and stated she wasn’t going to hurt herself.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed a juvenile had made threats to hurt people. Contact was made with the juvenile, who denied making the threats. A report was completed.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone was trying to break into a neighbor’s house. Upon arrival, the suspects were gone. There were no signs of entry to the residence and nothing had been taken.

Report of a theft in Ely — A business owner claims an employee had embezzled property. The investigation continues.

Report of a domestic dispute — The reporting party and his father were arguing about the recent purchase of a motor vehicle. Nothing physical had occurred.

Report of a theft in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone stole a vehicle she had recently rented. It was later discovered to be a civil issue/misunderstanding. No vehicle had been stolen.

Report of a theft in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone stole property from her home. It was later discovered that nothing had been taken from the home.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed to be harassed via social media. The posts were checked and found to be non-threatening in nature.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Several juveniles were allegedly playing doorbell ditch. Deputies located two juveniles who denied ringing the doorbells.

Report of a possible intoxicated driver in Ely — Deputies located the alleged vehicle, but found no signs of an impaired driver.

Report of a barking dog in Ely — The reporting party complained about a neighbor’s dog barking. Deputies were unable to make contact with the owner.

Report of a parking violation in Ely — The reporting party complained about a vehicle blocking his driveway. The owner was located and moved his vehicle.

Report of drugs in Ely — An employee in a local hostel found narcotics during the course of her duties. The investigation continues.

Report of threats — The reporting party claimed her ex-boyfriend had threatened her. A report was completed and the reporting party was given information on how to apply for a temporary order for protection.

Report of a fraud in Ely — The reporting party claimed an unknown person called him and, under false pretenses, acquired his credit card information. A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party complained about a neighbor making a mess in the parking lot of their apartment complex. The subject was advised to contact the landlord.

Report of a custody problem in Ely — The reporting party complained that her ex0husband had not dropped off their children to her for visitation. The ex-husband was contacted and claimed it was a miscommunication. The children were delivered soon after.

Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — The reporting party claimed a subject was shining a laser at passing cars. Deputies located the subject, a juvenile, whose parents took the laser away and said it wouldn’t happen again.

Report of a fight in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been involved in the fight. The parties were now friends and they were enjoying an alcoholic beverage together.

Report of an accident — Accident occurred in Lincoln County.

Report of a hit and run accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that she had parked her car in a local parking lot and when she returned someone had stuck her car with another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Officer patrolled the area and no juveniles were located playing in the roadway.

Report of harassment in Ely — Reporting party stated that an individual came her place of work and advised her that her husband was having an affair. The individual was asked to leave the business establishment. The incident was documented.

Report of suspicious noises in Ely — The area was patrolled, but no noises were located.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Reporting party was having problems with a foster child. The child was contacted and advised to follow the parents’ rules.

Report of a parking problem — The owner of the vehicle was contacted and advised to remove his vehicle from the alleyway.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that her juvenile son had been battered by several other juveniles. Officer is contacted all the juveniles involved and their parents.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Officer received a report of a missing juvenile. The juvenile was located at a friend’s home. He was returned home.
