White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Oct. 22-28. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.
October 22
Report of a disturbance — Officer patrolled the area, but the motorcycle was not located.
Report of an accident in Ely — Officer received a report of a semi trailer that had struck a street sign. The operator of the semi was identified as Boyd Destjeor of Utah. A accident report was completed.
Report of a death — Officer reported that Dorothy B. Zeman age 81 of Ely died at her residence due to natural causes.
Report of threats — Reporting party stated that her stepson has made several threats over the phone to her. The stepson lives in another state. The incident was documented.
Report of child abuse in Ely — Officer received a report of a juvenile that had been burned by hot water. The incident was investigated and reported to be an accident while cooking.
Report of a parking problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that a vehicle was parked in an alleyway. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
Report of threats in Ely — Reporting party stated that a juvenile had made threats towards her juvenile son. All the parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.
Report of a missing juvenile in Ely — Reporting party stated that she recently moved to the Ely area, but left her juvenile son in Reno where she moved from. Reporting party stated that she hasn’t seen her son in over a year. The incident was documented and a missing person report was completed.
Report of a juvenile causing harm to herself — Reporting party stated that her juvenile daughter has been cutting herself. The juvenile was taken to E.R.
Report of an animal bite — Reporting party had been bitten by a cat. She received medical treatment at E.R.
Report of a possible drunk driver in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

October 23
Report of an animal problem — A deer had been struck by a vehicle and injured. The deer was located and dispatched.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and found to be ok.
Report of a citation in Ely — Holly Bare, of Ely, was issued a citation for filing a false report after claiming someone stole her medication.
Report of suspicious subjects — The suspicious subjects were located and found they owned the property in which they were loitering upon.
Report of a trespasser in Ely — The owner of a local motel requested a tenant to leave, for lack of payment. The tenant left upon law enforcement arrival.
Report of a courtesy report — A deputy took a courtesy report on a child abuse incident that took place in another jurisdiction.
Report of vandalism in Ely — The reporting party found someone had damaged his vehicle while it sat unattended overnight. A report was completed.
Report of a fight in Ely — Three subjects were allegedly yelling at each other. Two of the subjects left prior to law enforcement arrival. The third person involved said they had only yelled, nothing physical had happened.

Report of a civil issue in Ely — The reporting party complained that his landlord kept sending him text messages. The subject was advised to contact his landlord and discuss the issue with him.
Report of drugs in Ely — A juvenile was discovered to be in possession of a controlled substance. The juvenile was released to his parents and a report was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Report of truancy in Ely — A student was deemed a habitual truant and will be issued a citation. A report was completed and will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male subject wouldn’t leave a local business. The subject was gone when officers arrived.
Report of a welfare check — Deputies were unable to locate the subject.
Report of possible child abuse in Ely — The reporting party claimed a subject was using drugs while in the presence of children. The information was passed onto the Eastern Nevada Narcotics Task Force.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and claimed to be fine.
Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole fuel from his vehicle, while it sat unattended overnight. The investigation continues.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone broke into his vehicle and stole several items, including his prescription medication. A report was completed.
Report of a sex crime — The victim reported to have been sexually assaulted by two other subjects. The investigation continues.
Report of a citizen hail in Ely — A citizen flagged down a deputy in regards to someone sleeping on the lawn of a local church. The subject was woken and advised to go home.
Report of a shoplifter in Ely — A local business owner observed two subjects shoplifting from his store while reviewing surveillance video. The investigation continues.
Report of dogs at large — The owner of the dogs was located, and he retrieved his dogs.
Report of a shoplifter in Ely — Ely resident Holly Bare was issued a citation for petit larceny after taking merchandise from a local store without paying for it.
Report of a warrant arrest in Ely — 20-year-old Ely resident Jacqueline Carson was arrested at her residence for an outstanding warrant.
Report of a warrant arrest in Ely — 23-year-old Lucrecia Romero was arrested at a relative’s home for an outstanding warrant.
Report of a DUI arrest in Ely — A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic offense. During the stop, the deputy observed the driver displaying signs of being under the influence. The driver, identified as 18 year old Ely resident Steven Brown, was later arrested for driving under the influence.

October 26
Report of a barking dog in Ely — The deputy was unable to locate any disturbance.
Report of a reckless driver — The officer was unable to locate the offending vehicle.
Report of a trespasser in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone unlawfully stayed in an unoccupied home she’s been house sitting. The investigation continues.
Report of a runaway in Ely — The reporting party believed her child had runaway due to an argument. The deputies were unable to locate the juvenile.
Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The vehicle was located and the driver was warned about his driving.
Report of found property in Ely — A backpack was found in the street and placed into lost and found.
Report of a juvenile problem — The juveniles were gone prior to law enforcement arrival.
Report of a civil problem in Ely — The reporting party wanted to get some clothing from a former boyfriend, who denied her access to the home. Both parties advised to work out their differences.
Report of a barking dog in Ely — Contact was made with the owner, who brought the dog into her home.
Report of an arrest in Ely — A deputy conducted a traffic stop and found one of the occupants, identified as 32-year-old Ruth resident William Robert Gergen, was in violation of his probation. Gergen was arrested without incident.

October 27
Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Both subjects involved had signs of battery, but officers were unable to determine the dominant physical aggressor. Both parties were separated for the night.
Report of a business alarm in Ely — The building was checked and found to be secure.
Report of a domestic disturbance — Deputies located the subjects involved and found 28 year old McGill resident Gregory Hinkle used force or violence against a person with whom he is involved in a dating relationship. Hinkle was determined to be the dominant physical aggressor and arrested within 24 hours of the battery.
Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed her ex-boyfriend’s father wouldn’t leave her residence. The father was contacted and left without incident.
Report of private property hit and run in Ely — The reporting party claimed someone struck his vehicle while it sat unattended in a private parking lot. A report was completed.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subjects were located and appeared to be fine.
Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed to have gotten a threatening voicemail from a male subject. The reporting party was advised on how to apply for a temporary protection order. The male was located and advised to stay away from the reporting party.
Report of a domestic disturbance — It was discovered that several family members were only arguing over each other’s rude behavior. All parties involved were advised to keep the peace.
Report of drugs in Ely — A male subject believed someone was transporting narcotics and selling them. The information was given to the Eastern Nevada Narcotics Task Force.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed his neighbor constantly being loud. A report was completed.
Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — The reporting party claimed to have received a suspicious phone call from a subject. Investigation continues.

Report of a suicidal subject — The reporting party received information that a friend may try to hurt himself. The friend was located and claimed to have not made any such statement.
Report of a civil problem in Ely — The reporting party complained about having issues with her boss. The reporting party was advised the issue was civil.
Report of a domestic disturbance — Deputies made contact and found the parties were only arguing over living arrangements. They were advised to handle their issues civilly.
Report of a private property accident in Ely — Debra Brooks, of Ely, backed into a parked, unoccupied vehicle. A report was completed.
Report of a possible protection order violation in Ely — The parties were contacted and found that no violation occurred.
Report of vandalism — Several parties were arguing over issues involving rented space. All parties were advised that they were adults, and to handle the matter as such.
Report of a reckless driver in Ely — A vehicle was reportedly driving in a reckless manner. A deputy located the vehicle and a citation was issued to the driver, identified as Ely residence Riata Manning.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Officers responded to a local store in reference to a subject causing problems. Upon arrival, they found no one had caused a disturbance.
Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed someone tried to get her child to ride the bus from school to a different bus stop. Upon investigating, it was found the message was given to the child in error.
Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — The reporting party said a male had tried to solicit a ride from him. The male was later located and said he just wanted to get out of town.
