November 5

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and claimed to be ok.

Report of a vehicle alarm in Ely — The vehicle was checked and found to be secure.

Report of a stolen vehicle in Ely —  A stolen vehicle was found parked, unoccupied. The vehicle, which had been stolen from another jurisdiction, was released to the owner.

Report of a theft — A local business reported several employees had been accused of, and admitted to, embezzling work property over the last year.  The deputy spoke to the three accused employees, who each admitted to some form of theft.  The three subjects were identified as 36-year-old Ely resident Brady Mangum, 22-year-old Ely resident Tracey Bronson, and 36-year-old Utah resident Eric Christensen.  All three were arrested for embezzlement, conspiracy, and grand larceny.

Report of a theft in Ely — The reporting party claimed a former roommate stole some personal property when she moved out. It was later determined to be a civil issue.

Report of an arrest in Ely — A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 32-year-old Preston resident Jeremy Gossett.  Based on his observations, the deputy arrested Gossett for driving under the influence.

November 6.

Report of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had lost his medication while visiting another state. He later reported that the medication was located.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual had moved out of the area.

Report of a stolen dog in Ely — The dog was located near the reporting parties residence. It had escaped from its yard.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Officer received a report of a individual who had threatened the reporting party with a gun and knife. During the officers investigation it was determined that the reporting party had falsely reported the crime. The reporting party was identified as Steven Sweeney age 29 of Ely. Sweeney was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

November 7

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — A female subject was escorted from a local business after refusing to leave. Officers observed the female then re-enter the establishment. The female was identified as 48-year-old Duckwater resident Roxanne Mike. Mike was arrested for trespassing without incident.

Report of an unattended death in Ely — 66-year-old Ely resident Jerry Ledford Hall passed away at his home due to an illness.

Report of a civil issue — The reporting party inquired about freeholder/indweller laws and the possessorship of chattels, specifically the duration it must be held, after abandoned, prior to appropriation. The subject was assisted with the issue.

Report of an arrest in Ely — 34-year-old Ely resident Alan Joel Miller was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Juveniles reportedly created a noise disturbance near a school. The area was patrolled, but the offenders weren’t located.

Report of a juvenile problem — Two juveniles allegedly followed a third with the intention of fighting, but the two juveniles ran off. The parents of the juveniles involved will be contacted.

Report of a noise disturbance in Ely — Officers responded to a noise disturbance at an apartment complex.  While there, a male subject continued to use loud and tumultuous language after being warned repeatedly to stop. The male, identified as 21-year-old Ely resident Joseph Sandoval, was arrested for disturbing the peace.

Report of a battery in Ely — The reporting party claimed he was battered while frequenting a gaming establishment.  The investigation continues.

November 8

Report of detained juveniles in Ely — Officer reported that during a vehicle stop he made contact with several juveniles. Some of the juveniles were intoxicated and were detained. They were later released to their guardians.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that they had been arguing over a firearm. The individual causing the disturbance was intoxicated. He left the residence for the night.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Thomas W. Prince age 64 of Ely died at his residence due to natural causes.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual removed several items from her place of employment without paying for them. She contacted the individual who denied the allegation and then he fled in his vehicle. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a stolen vehicle in Ely — Reporting party stated that her vehicle had been stolen. Officer reported that the vehicle had been recovered earlier in the day and the investigation continues.

Report of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that he observed an individual remove a item from his store without paying for it. Officer has identified the individual and will issue him a citation for petit larceny when located.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were banging on the McGill School doors. Officer contacted several juveniles in the area and advised them to leave the school area.

Report of a battery in Ely — Reporting party stated that while she was at a local bar she was punched in the face by another female. When the female is located she will be issued a citation for battery.

Report of an attempt to locate — Officer located the individual whose vehicle had broken down.

November 9

Report of a domestic battery in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved and arrested Jesse A. Seely age 28 of Ely. Seely was arrested for domestic battery, second offense and false imprisonment. He is accused of battering his girlfriend and not allowing her to leave the residence. A local juvenile was also located at the scene who was intoxicated. He was detained and later released to a family member.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who was causing a disturbance. He was upset due to a fight that had happened earlier in the night. He was advised to leave the area and to keep the peace.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who were involved in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone was using his debit card without his permission. Investigation continues.

Report of fireworks in Ely — The area was patrolled, but no fireworks were located.

Report of illegal dumping in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone has been putting their garbage in her dumpster. An individual possibly involved was contacted and advised not to place garbage in the dumpster.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that a large group of juveniles were walking down the roadway. Officer contacted the juveniles and reported that no crime had occurred.

November 10

Report of an ambulance assist in Ely — Officer made contact with a male subject who had sustained an injury to his face. The male subject couldn’t remember how he had gotten his injuries. The subject was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of an ATL in Ely — Officer reported that the subject they were looking for was residing in Utah.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and advised that it had broken down. The vehicle was tagged for removal.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over the custody of a child in common. The child remained with the mother and the father was advised to keep the peace.

Report of a fire in Ely — Officer contacted the party involved who was burning leaves.

Report of property damage in Ely — Reporting party stated that a patron at a local bar had broken a window at the bar. The patron was identified as Robert E. Garcia age 53 of Ely. Garcia was arrested for injury to property and ex-felon failure to register.

Report of a suicidal subject in Ely — Officer contacted the individual who stated that he was fine and that his family was presently helping him.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her ex-boyfriend threatened her new boyfriend. Officers patrolled the area, but the ex-boyfriend was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that her ex-boyfriend keeps driving by her home. The area was patrolled, but the ex-boyfriend was not located.

November 11

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties separated for the night.

Report of a suicidal subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend and she was threatening to take her own life. Officers patrolled the area, but the girlfriend was not located. Later that night the girlfriend was located and she received assistance at the local hospital.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle and arrested Matthew Phillipenas age 29 of Ruth Phillipenas was arrested on a warrant out of Indiana for contempt of court.

Report of a trespasser in Ely — Officer contacted the trespasser and advised him not to return to any property owned by the reporting party.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that his dog had been bitten by another dog. The incident was documented.

Report of a prowler in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone has been walking around her home. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of property damage in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone had broken a window on his apartment. The incident was documented.

Report of an attempted burglary — Reporting party stated that someone had opened the door to his shed. Nothing was taken. The incident was documented.
