White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for December 3-9. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

December 3
Report of child abuse — The reporting party believes someone has been abusing his child. The investigation continues.
Report of a sex crime in Ely — The reporting party claimed to have been sexually assaulted. The investigation continues.
Report of fraud in Ely — A local business claimed someone has been calling customers in an attempt to retrieve personal identifying information. A report was completed.
Report of a custody issue in Ely — Both parties worked out the problem prior to law enforcement arrival.
Report of a welfare check — The deputy was unable to locate the subject.
Report of a civil issue in Ely — The reporting party inquired about issues involving an eviction. The citizen was assisted.
Report of an attempt to locate in Ely — The subject was located.
Report of a red tag in Ely — A deputy red tagged an abandoned vehicle.

December 4
Report of an accident — Murray Schrader of Alberta Canada was operating a vehicle turning into a private drive. As he did so he stuck a loader being operated by Robert Leslie of Ely. An accident report was completed.
Report of a motorist assist — Report given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that her ex-boyfriend got into her e-mail account and was deleting e-mails. Reporting party changed her e-mail password and recovered her deleted e-mails. The incident was documented.
Report of a welfare check — Officer reported that the child was in good health and had appropriate living conditions.
Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that he received a telephone call from an individual claiming he won a prize. Reporting party stated that he did not give out any personal information, but wanted the incident documented.
Report of a civil problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that a friend of hers had been living with her for several weeks and now wants her removed from her home. She was advised it was a civil problem. The friend eventually left the residence.
Report of an accident — David Goff of Las Vegas was operating a vehicle turning onto East Aultman from 13th street. As he did so he struck a stop sign. An accident report was completed.
Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Christina S. Lerch age 32 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant, for failure to appear.
Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that his juvenile son hadn’t returned home from a friend’s house. The juvenile was located and returned to his father.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.
Report of a disturbance in Ely — The individual was contacted who was dropping his weight lifting weights on the floor. He was advised to keep the peace.
New bookings — Cristina S. Lerch, Ely Justice Court warrant, failure to appear, no bail; Timothy D. Rowley, driving suspended, bail $740.

December 5
Report of a business alarm in Ely — Deputies checked the business and found it was accidentally set off by an employee.
Report of a welfare check in Ely — The subject was located and found to be in good health.
Report of lost property in Ely — The reporting party believed someone stole her wallet. She later located it in her residence.
Report of fraud in Ely — The reporting party claimed a male obtained services under false pretenses. The investigation continues.
Report of a business alarm in Ely — The building was checked and found to be secure.
Report of found property in Ely — The reporting party found a wallet in the road. The owner was contacted to pick up the wallet.
Report of a battery in Ely — The reporting party, who works at a local pub, trespassed a patron. The patron, identified as 52-year-old Ely resident Jan Sluder Brooks, then battered the employee. Brooks was later located and issued a citation for battery and trespassing. While being issued the citation, Brooks refused to provide identification. Brooks was later arrested for obstructing a public officer.

December 6
Report of harassment in Ely — Reporting party stated that an individual whom he has had prior problems with made a rude hand gesture towards him today. The incident was documented.
Report of a trailer in the roadway — Officer located the trailer, which was parked in the roadway. The trailer will be towed.
Report of an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance in Ely — Officer located the individual who was urinating in view of the public. Officer identified the individual as Colton U. Jackson age 24 of Ely. Jackson was arrested for prohibited act, resisting arrest and trespassing.
Report of a dog problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that a dog was whimpering somewhere in the neighborhood. Officer located the dog and checked on his welfare. The dog was fine.
Report of an accident — Lance Marshal of McGill had left a disabled vehicle parked in the roadway. Walter Bohrn of McGill was operating a vehicle and struck Marshal’s vehicle. A accident report was completed.
Report of a business license violation in Ely — Officer received a report of an individual selling meat items out of his vehicle. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.
Report of a fraud in Ely — Reporting party located several charges on her credit card account that she didn’t make. Investigation continues.
Report of a fire in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone threw an item through their window at their residence, which caught on fire. The fire was extinguished. Investigation continues.
New bookings — Colton U. Jackson, prohibited acts, resisting arrest, and trespassing, bail $1,065.

December 7
Report of someone in a trailer — Reporting party stated that someone was making weird noises in his trailer. The trailer was checked and no one was located.
Report of a theft in Ely — Reporting party stated that someone stole a paint sprayer from his shop.
Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of a man walking down the roadway in the snow. Officer located the individual who was crawling down the roadway. The individual was taken to E.R. for medical assistance.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that her husband was home drunk and she wanted him removed from their home. She was advised that no crime had occurred and that we could not remove him from his own residence.
Report of harassment in Ely — Reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted telephone calls from an individual. Officer is attempting to contact the caller.
Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Reporting party stated that she had been battered by her boyfriend. The boyfriend had left the area before officers arrived. Investigation continues.
Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer located the vehicle parked and unoccupied.
Report of a fight in Ely — Officers received a report of a fight that was occurring at a local bar. When officers arrived the individuals had left the area.
New bookings — Jose J. Madera, driving while suspended, bail $840, arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

December 8
Report of a fight in Ely — Officer received a report of a fight that was occurring at a local bar. Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over money. The situation was resolved and they both were advised to keep the peace.
Report of an accident — David Bolton of Alaska was operating a vehicle traveling on US 6 East. He stated that he struck a eagle with his vehicle. The incident was documented.
Report of a dog problem — Officer checked on the condition of the dog and reported no problems were located. The report was also forwarded to Animal Control.
Report of an attempt to locate in Ely — Officer contacted several individuals who had no information on where the person might be.
New bookings — Vernon Perkins, driving revoked, no insurance, and suspended license plate, bail $1,960; Russell Wooldridge, serving time.

December 9
Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident that had occurred on US 6 near Murry Street. Officer reported that Nam Phan of Las Vegas was operating a vehicle and lost control of it due to icy road conditions. The vehicle slid off the roadway causing damage to the vehicle front end.
Report of a found item — Reporting party found a small suitcase with miscellaneous items inside. The suitcase was placed into lost and found.
Report of truancy in Ely — The juvenile was issued a citation for truancy and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.
Report of a verbal argument in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had gotten into a verbal argument with his mother. Both parties involved were contacted and the problem was resolved.
Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that her ex-husband has made several threats about harming her. The ex-husband lives out of the area. The incident was documented.
Report of an ATL in Ely — The individual was located and was fine.
New bookings — Robert A. McDaniel, probation violation, no bail, hold for Tribal Police; April Love Thomas Ward, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and use of a controlled substance, bail $10,000.
