White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for December 10-16. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

December 10
Report of an a illegally parked vehicle — Officer received a report of a vehicle that was parked in the travel lane. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
Report of an accident — Jerry Stever of McGill was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a light pole behind him and struck the pole. A accident report was completed.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he received a letter from a individual and it appeared that the sender was suffering from mental illness. The sender was contacted and the officer reported that he was provided information on how to contact Ely Mental Health.
Report of an alarm — false alarm.
Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that several batteries had been stolen form his place of business. Investigation continues.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he was having a problem with his wife and he wanted her out of the residence. The reporting party was advised that she had as much right to live at the residence as he did. Both parties worked out their problem and they were advised to keep the peace.

December 11
Report of theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole personal items from his property.  A report was completed.
Report of a suspicious vehicle — The vehicle was located and appeared to be abandoned.  The vehicle was towed.
Report of fraud — A local county entity reported possible fraud.  The investigation continues.
Report of a bad check — A local business received a check that was found to have non-sufficient funds.  A report was completed and the check was turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
Report of a parking violation — The reporting party had issues with a person parked illegally.  The illegally parked vehicle was moved by the owner.
Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party alleged a subject was peddling merchandise.  A report was completed.
Report of a business alarm — The building was checked and nothing was found out of place.
Report ofsuspicious subjects — The reporting party claimed a male had followed her to her vehicle.  The deputy found two couples had been frequenting taverns in the downtown area, but had left town.

December 12
Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a semi truck parked in a turn lane. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a individual who was trying to visit a patient at the local hospital. The patient didn’t want to see the individual. The individual was advised to leave the hospital.
Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
Report of people selling items without a license — Officer contacted the individuals involved and advised them they needed to obtain a business license before they could sell any items in the Ely area.
Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that someone had poisoned his dog. The incident was documented
Report of a dog running at large — The report was given to Ely Animal Control.
Report of an underage drinker — Officer received a report of a underage student that was drinking at a school event. Officer contacted the student and he was taken to E.R. due to his incoherentness. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his neighbor kicked his door. Officer contacted the neighbor who denied the allegation. He was warned and advised to stay away from his neighbor.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he had a verbal argument with a fellow tenant about the use of a clothing dryer. Both parties were contacted and advised to stay away from each other.

December 13
Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Michael Stoltz age 63 of Talkeetna, AK was arrested for failure to yield right of way and obstructing a police officer.
Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.
Report of property damage— Reporting party stated that a window on the building where she is employed had been damaged. Investigation continues.
Report of a parking problem — The owner of the vehicle was contacted and he removed it.
Report of a disturbance— Officer contacted the parties involved who had been arguing over child visitations. The parties had separated and they were advised to keep the peace.
Report of a possible fraud — Reporting party stated that she received a telephone call from a individual claiming he needed information about her home computer. Reporting party didn’t provide any information Reporting party was advised it was a scam to gain access to her computer.
Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who stated that she had been involved in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. The parties had separated before officers arrived.
Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

December 14
Report of a juvenile problem — Officer located several juveniles out past the hours of curfew. The juveniles were detained. One of the juvenile was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. All the juveniles were released to their guardians and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.
Report of an alarm — False alarm. The alarm was set off by several employees.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that they had a verbal argument with their landlord. All the parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.
Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that her juvenile son had snuck out of their home. The juvenile was later located and returned home.

December 15
Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jacob Chivers age 23 of McGill was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic devices. He was also arrested on a probation violation.
Report of an abandoned vehicle — Officer reported that the vehicle was removed by a local tow company.
Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and requested no assistance.
Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a individual had removed some property from his yard. The individual was contacted and the property was returned.
Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who blamed each other for the verbal argument. The parties were separated and advised to stay away from each other.
Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles smoking. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.
Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that she wanted a individual removed from her home due to past problems. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the residence.
Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jennifer L. Logan age 33 of Ely was arrested for basic speed, expired registration, no insurance, driving suspended, and D.U.I.
Report of an alarm— False alarm.
Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a individual causing a disturbance at a local residence. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as Walter R. Kennedy age 29 of Ely. Kennedy was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant, for contempt of court. He was also arrested for resisting arrest.

New bookings — Jacob Chivers, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermis device, bail $25,000, probation violation, no bail; Jennifer L. Logan, basic speed, expired registration, no insurance, driving suspended and D.U.I., bail $3,040; Walter R. December 16
Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.
Report of an accident — Aaron Charles of Ely was operating a vehicle near Hiko in Lincoln County when he struck a deer with his vehicle. A incident report was completed.
Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had opened a cellular telephone account in his name. A report was completed and the fraud department for the cellular service was provided the report.
Report of a welfare check — The elderly female was provided a ride home by a concerned citizen.
Report of a parking problem — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and had him remove it from the fire lane.
Report of a dog problem — Officer removed two deceased dogs from the roadway. They had been struck by a vehicle.
