White Pine Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for December 23-30. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

December 23
Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed a woman told him she had been assaulted.  Deputies located the woman, who gave several different stories, none of which deputies were able to corroborate.  A report was completed and the woman decided to leave the area.
Report of a suicidal subject — Deputies made contact with the subject, who admitted he was depressed over the holidays.  The male claimed he wasn’t going to harm himself, but was just depressed.  The subject said he would call if he had any further problems.
Report of a business alarm — The building was checked and a door was found to be ajar.  Deputies checked the interior and found everything appeared to be in order.  The responsible person for the building arrived and found nothing missing.
Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole currency from his room.  The deputy spoke to several people at the scene, but was unable to determine who, if anyone took the money.  A report was completed.
Report of a private property accident — Braxton Crepeau, of Ely, was allegedly driving a vehicle on private property and struck and damaged a barbeque grill and failed to notify the owner.  A report was completed.
Report of property damage — The reporting party claimed someone broke the lightbulb outside his front door.  A report was completed.
Report of a civil problem — The reporting party claimed to have a disagreement over child custody with his ex-girlfriend.  He was advised to follow his custody agreement provided through the courts.
Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed a former roommate stole property when he moved out.  The roommate was contacted and admitted accidentally taking the property.  The property was returned.
Report of a reckless driver — Deputies checked the area, but the vehicle could not be located.
Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party claimed his grandson damaged several items in his home.  A report was completed to be submitted to Juvenile Probation and the District Attorney’s Office.
Report of a suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed someone had moved property outside his window for the last several nights.  A report was competed.
Report of a business alarm — The building was checked and found to be secure.

New Bookings — Jon Michael Shaw, serving time for Ely Municipal Court.

 December 24
Report of injury to property — The reporting party claimed someone had broken a window on her residence.  Officers checked the area, but didn’t find anyone in the area.  A report was completed.
Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party stated that a juvenile, whom she has guardianship over, had snuck out of the residence during the night.  Deputies checked various locations, but were unable to locate the juvenile.
Report of a domestic disturbance — It was discovered that the husband and wife were only arguing.  A report was completed.
Report of an intoxicated driver — The reporting party claimed a male was drinking and driving.  The deputy located the vehicle and stopped it for a traffic violation.  Contact was made with the driver, identified as 62 year old Idaho resident Fred Cox.  Cox was later arrested for driving under the influence.
New Bookings — Casy Bernice Berry, contempt of court, warrant, bail $507, arrested by the Department of Public Safety – Nevada Highway Patrol; Fred Jay Cox, driving under the influence, open container, failure to drive within marked lanes, license plate lamp required.
   

December 25
Report of an arrest — A deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and spoke to the driver, identified as 33 year old Las Vegas resident Kyra Hansen.  Hansen was later arrested for driving under the influence.
Report of shots fired — Two subjects were located shooting firearms.  They were advised to move further away from the populated area.
Report of a harassment — The reporting party claimed a relative became argumentative during a family gathering and was asked t leave.  Since then, the relative has been calling and harassing the reporting party.  A report was completed.
Report of a theft — The reporting party later called back and claimed to have found the missing items.
New Bookings — Kyra McKay Hansen, driving under the influence, insurance required, fail to yield a right of way, license plate lamp required, bail $2,215.
 

December 26
Report of property damage — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject damaged private property.  The investigation continues.
Report of an arrest — A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation and spoke to the driver, identified as Howard James Sullivan, of Carmichael, CA.  He was later arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding warrant.
Report of an arrest — Russell Lee Bainbridge, of Ely, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Report of threats — The reporting party claimed a male was threatening them.  The male was contacted and advised to cease contact was trespassed from the property.
Report of a hit and run — A parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle, which then fled the scene the investigation continues.
Report of a private property hit and run — The reporting party claimed his vehicle was parked when it was struck by another vehicle.  The driver, a 36-year-old white female, was later located, but denied striking the vehicle A report was completed.
Report of littering — The reporting party claimed someone kept dumping trash in front of their residence.  A report was completed.
New bookings — Howard James Sullivan Jr, contempt of court, driving suspended, bail $1012; Russell Lee Bainbridge, forgery, burglary, bail $20,000.
December 27
Report of a domestic dispute — When deputies arrived, a male subject attempted to leave.  The male, identified as 32 year old Ely resident Jason Lassley, was detained.  The domestic was determined to be verbal only, but Lassley was discovered to be in possession of a controlled substance.  Lassley was arrested without incident.
Report of a welfare check — Deputies were unable to locate the subject.
Report of an accident — Robert Ljungquist, of Las Vegas, was stopped at a stop sign when Burrell Bybee, of Ely, attempted to back from a parked position from a private drive.  Bybee didn’t see Ljungquist, and backed into his vehicle.  Bybee was later issued a citation for unsafe backing.
Report of injury to property — The reporting party claimed someone damaged her vehicle.  A report was completed.
Report of an unattended death — Scott Paul Smith passed away at his home due to terminal illness.
Report of an arrest — A deputy conducted a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation and spoke to the driver, identified as 33 year old Franky Greger, of Las Vegas.  During the stop, Greger was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.  Greger was arrested for the narcotics and for violating his probation.
New Bookings — Jason Christopher Lassley, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, bail $15,000; Scott Hughes, serving time for Ely Municipal Court; Frank Victor Greger, probation violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drivers license in possession, improper color of lamps, blue lights unlawful, bail $15,000.

December 28
Report of a dog bite — The reporting party claimed to have been bit by a neighbor’s dog.  The neighbor was contacted and said they would keep the dog secured.
Report of a problem with a subject — A male subject was allegedly screaming in the roadway.  When officers arrived, the subject was gone.
Report of an intoxicated subject — An intoxicated female was allegedly walking in the roadway.  Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the woman.
 New Bookings — None.
December 29
Report of a child in need of supervision — A deputy observed a juvenile out past curfew.  The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to her guardian.
Report of a probation violation — While conducting another investigation, deputies spoke to 32 year old Ely resident Billy Gergen.  The deputy discovered Gergen was in violation of the terms of his probation and Gergen was taken into custody.
Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed an ex-boyfriend, who lives out of the area, has been harassing her via text and email.  The subject was advised on how to obtain a temporary protection order.
Report of an abandoned vehicle — The vehicle was red tagged for removal.
Report of a fight — When officers arrived, one of the parties claimed a subject had been trying to start a fight, but left prior to law enforcement arrival.  Officers were unable to locate the subject that fled.
Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and was ok.
New Bookings — William Robert Gergen, probation violation, no bail.
 

December 30
Report of a suspicious vehicle — The vehicle was checked and the occupant was waiting to go to work.
Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party recently fired a worker and claimed the worker was disgruntled.  A report was completed.
Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party was having issues with a subject regarding his dog on licensing laws.  The subject was made aware of the laws pertaining to licensing dogs in the city.
Report of a suicidal subject — The reporting party claimed her husband was suicidal.  Contact was made with the husband who stated he wasn’t suicidal, but was overwhelmed with finances and marital problems.
Report of an animal problem — The reporting party claimed someone injured her horse.  A report was completed.
Report of an intoxicated driver — A driver was allegedly driving intoxicated.  Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
   New Bookings — Fred Jay Cox, civil protective custody, arrested by the Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol; Jon Michael Shaw, serving time for Ely Municipal Court.
