Dee Dee Sandoval and her mother Diane Heckethorn Doutre started D&D Financial Services 25 years ago. Sandoval still tries to remember the techniques and ethics that her mother brought to the business when they first started working together back in 1989.
“She was a great teacher,” Sandoval said of her mother, who passed away in 2011. “She was the heart and soul of the business, especially when we were starting out.
“We have certainly tried to follow her traditions and her ways of running a successful business. It was definitely due to her.”
Sandoval’s whole family was born and raised in White Pine County. When her and her mother decided to go out on their own and start the business, they relied on the trust they had built in the community to start finding clients.
With tax season in full swing, Sandoval and her staff are regularly pulling “14 to 16 hours days” every day of the week. And while her business handles “any kind of returns” from small businesses to individuals several states away, D&D offers more than just the standard tax services.
“We do bookkeeping. We offer full accounting services including payroll along with specializing in the 1040 series of tax preparation,” Sandoval said.
Even though Sandoval’s diversity of services keeps her busy all year, she still admits to looking forward to April 16, calling it a “mini vacation.”
Outside of all the number crunching and refund figuring, Sandoval wants to make sure her business gives back to the county that raised her family.
he said D&D is a proud supporter of the 4H youth programs as well as live stock show and sales. She donates her accounting expertise to these events free of charge as a way of saying ‘thank you.’
“I was mostly raised by volunteering so I really support any community support type project. We take a lot of pride in doing that here.”
