White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for February 19-25. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies. 

Feb. 19

Report of a battery — Officer contacted the individual involved who would not provide any information on what had happened. The incident was documented.

Report of a injured deer — The area was patrolled, but the deer was not located.

Report of damage to a vehicle — Reporting party stated that a window had been broken on his vehicle. Officer reported that the window had been broken when the door of the vehicle had been closed.

Report of a alarm ­— False alarm.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that he had been bitten by the neighbors dog. The neighbor was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a truancy — The juvenile was issued a citation for truancy and a report was sent to juvenile Probation.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that her daughter was leaving the state with her grandmother. It was determined that the grandmother has legal guardianship over the daughter. No crime had occurred.

Report of a reckless driver— The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a bad check — The checks were collected and turned over to the District Attorneys Office for collections.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a gun he keeps in his truck came up missing. The incident was documented.

Report of a missing vehicle — Reporting party stated that he was operating a vehicle on a dirt road west of Ely when the vehicle started smoking. He left the vehicle and walked back to town. The reporting party stated that he has gone back to find his vehicle and cannot find it. Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer assisted Ely Tribal Police with the investigation.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of a domestic disturbance that was taking place. During the officers investigation he contacted the parties involved who were arguing over a income tax return. Officer reported that Tod Williams age 53 of Ely was arrested for interference with a telecommunication device. He is accused of not allowing the reporting party to call the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Report of a individual who had been shot — reporting party stated that his neighbor told him he had been shot in the stomach with a firearm. Officer contacted the neighbor who was intoxicated, but had not been shot. No further action was taken.

Report of a dog bite — Reporting party stated that she reached into her neighbors yard to pet their dog and the dog bite her. The reporting party received medical attention and the owner of the dog was notified.

Report of unlawful dumping — Officer investigated the incident and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a threat — Reporting party stated that he received a telephone call and the caller threatened him. It is unknown who the caller was. The incident was documented.

Report of drug use — Reporting party stated that her juvenile son came home intoxicated and she believes he has also been using drugs. Officer reported that the juvenile was under the influence. Officers investigated where the juvenile had obtained the substances and arrested Aaron J. Estopare age 21 of Ely. Estopare was arrested for contributing to the delinquence of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, child endangerment, and sales of a controlled substance.

Report of a accident — Richard D. Ator Jr a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle turning from 9th street on to Aultman. As he did so he made a illegal lane change and struck a vehicle being operated by Joe Delmue of Caliente, NV. Ator was issued a citation for unsafe lane change. A accident report was completed.

Report of identity theft — Reporting party stated that he was having his taxes done when he was advised by the company doing his taxes that someone else was using his social security number. A report was completed.

Report of a public nuisance — Reporting party stated that a home in his neighborhood is falling apart and needs to be demolished. Officer is forwarding the report to the City Building Inspector.

Report of possible child abuse — Reporting party stated that her child indicated that she had been inappropriately touched by a adult. Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that it was a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a arrest — Officer reported that Hayley M. Lingle age 35 of Ely was arretsde on a Ely Justice Court warrant.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that they received a letter indicating a family member had stolen from a business establishment. Reporting party stated that the family member was not at the business, due to it was out of the Ely area. The incident was documented.
