Gregory Eugene Tibbs

Tibbs1Gregory Eugene Tibbs of Ely, Nevada passed away February 21, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was born January 7, 1952 in Eugene, Oregon to Harvie and Delpha Tibbs.

He attended White Pine High School and graduated in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1971.  Greg was an air craft engine mechanic.  He did a six month tour in Korea and six months in South Vietnam,  with an honorable discharge in 1974.  He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He was the commander of the local VFW Post 3547.  Greg worked for many years as a mineral core driller for Longear Drilling and Boyles Brothers Drilling.  He started work in construction in the late 1980’s. His last job was working for Epperson Contruction as a construction foreman.  He also helped his friend Reed Robison with many construction projects.  Greg loved to  hunt and go fishing.

Greg is survived by his daughter Michelle Tibbs; grandson Richard Chavez; granddaughter Jaycee Bush; two sisters Pat Jackson (Brian) and Denise (Sid) Beckwith; two brothers Dennis Tibbs and Harvie Tibbs; he is also survived by his dear close friends Reed Robison, Pam Grenke and Mary Olson.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents; sister Elizabeth Ann Hendrickson and daughter Adrieene May Tibbs.

Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ely City Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will follow at the Out Post Bar.
