Fredrick A. Farnsworth, Jr.,

Farnsworth1Loving husband and wonderful dad of ours passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness – Saturday, March 1, 2014.

He was born June 6, 1933 in Ely Nevada to Fredrick A. Farnsworth, Sr. and Myrl Young.

He was active in sports during his growing up years, and an avid cyclist, hunter and year round golfer in later years!

He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a pitcher and played for their farm team the Salt Lake Bees for only one season when he was drafted into the Army in 1953.  He served for two years in Germany in the Military Police.

He married Sharen L. Kesler of Milford Utah October 12th 1957 in the St. George Temple sealing their family together for all eternity.

He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Arco Coal from 1978-1998 when he retired.

Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Sharon Lewis of Nevada and Fairel Webb of Oklahoma.

He is survived by his brother Myrlin of Utah and sister Joyce Baker of Alaska, his daughter MerAnn of Billings MT, and three sons and their spouses:  Bart K. & Patricia L. Lucas of Ely Nevada, Mikel A. & Debra J. Hedricks of Billings MT, and F. Lee & Karyn D. McIntyre of Ogden Utah.  Ten grandchildren and fourteen Great-grandchildren.

A graveside service were held at Mountview Cemetery in Billings Montana – Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11 a.m.

    I can remember Mr. Farnsworth biking along the Pioche Highway. He helped inspire me to ride, just like Breaking Away did several years later.

    Like Bert, Fred was a classmate whom I remember best as a raw-boned, tough, football player and a nice guy. RIP
