White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for March 4-10. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies. 

March 4

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Dylan Birmingham age 20 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that several dogs had attacked her chickens killing several of them. The owner of the dogs was identified and the reporting party and the owner of the dogs made arrangements to pay for the loss of the chickens.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer received a report of a suspicious vehicle at the airport. Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred, they were there helping a friend.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that his power of attorney had stolen a large sum of money from him. The reporting party then requested no law enforcement action be taken due to he had entered into a civil agreement with the individual responsible for the theft.

Report of a citizen assist, arrest — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had broken down on US 50. During the officers assistance one of the occupants of the vehicle was identified as Shannon E. Nye age 39 of Elko. Nye was arrested on a Elko Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a ambulance assist — Officer assisted the county ambulance on a individual who possibly overdosed. The individual was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

March 5

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties were warned about disturbing the peace. The parties involved separated for the night.

Report of debris in the roadway — The garbage was removed from the roadway and a citation will be issued to the responsible party when located.

Report of an accident — The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of an agency assist — Officer assisted Ely Mental Health with a individual who needed medical assistance.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a handgun is missing from his residence. It is unknown when the gun was stolen. Investigation continues.

Report of a fight — Officer received a report of a fight that had taken place at a local bar. One of the parties involved was transported to E.R. by ambulance. Officer contacted the parties involved who provided information on what took place. Investigation continues.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a employee was making allegations of missing items at a local business. Investigation continues.

Report of an open door — Officer received a report of a open door on a vacant home. The home was checked and found to be secured.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that his neighbor had plugged in a power cord to his power box and was using his electricity. When the neighbor is located she will be issued a citation for theft of utilities.

Report of a barking dog — Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised him of the problem

Report of suspicious activity — Officer received a report of a light on in a vacant home. The home was checked and found to be secured.

Report of a suspicious noise — Reporting party stated that while out walking he could hear a small child crying. The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

March 6

Report of a redtag — A deputy found a vehicle had been stored on a public roadway.  The vehicle was red tagged for removal.

Report of fraud — A local bank revealed a subject had obtained money under false pretenses.  The investigation continues.

Report of a vehicle violation — The reporting party claimed an unlicensed juvenile was operating a motor vehicle.  The vehicle was located, and was found to be operated by a licensed driver.

Report of a reckless driver — The vehicle had fled the area prior to law enforcement arrival.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party claimed someone had vandalized a local park.  The investigation continues.

Report of internet fraud — The reporting party claimed an unknown person used the internet to defraud her bank account.  The investigation continues.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party claimed a dog was tied to a vehicle in a parking lot and the dog was attempted to bite people as they walked by.  The owner was contacted and agreed to move the vehicle and dog.  The owner complied.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and found to be in good health.

March 7 

Report of a dog problem — Officer located the barking dog and issued a citation for barking dog to the owner who was identified as Michael Cracraft of Ely

Report of an arrest — Officer reported tnat Patricia Collins age 57 of Duckwater, NV was arrested for D.U.I. and open container.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual who was fine. She just needed directions which were provided.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had scratched her vehicle. A report was completed.

Report of a accident, arrest — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident located on C.R. 44. During the officers investigation the operator of the vehicle was identified as Cheryl I. Giron age 52 of Ely. Giron allowed her vehicle to drift off the roadway. Giron was arrested for D.U.I. driving on right side required and expired license.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his landlord keeps turning off his power. The landlord was contacted who denied the allegation.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of several subjects causing a disturbance at a local bar. The individuals were contacted and trespassed from the property.

Report of a possible drunk driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jesse L. Baca age 33 of Ely was arrested for D.U.I. and tail lamps required.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that she is separated from her husband, but he keeps sending her text messages. The husband was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.

New bookings — Patricia Collins, D.U.I. and open container, Bail $1,245; Jesse L. Baca, D.U.I. and tail lamps required., Bail $1,255; Cheryl I. Giron, D.U.I., driving on right side required and expired license, Bail $1,450.

March 8

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Christopher D. Carr age 40 of Las Vegas was arrested for D.U.I., open container and basic speed.

Report of a problem with a juvenile — Reporting party stated that her neighbors childen was yelling profanities at her. The parents of the child were contacted and advised of the complaint.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that she was hit with a rock that was thrown over her fence. Officer contacted the neighbor who spoke to his children, The child admitted to throwing the rock. The child was going to apologize to the reporting party.

Report of unattended children — Officer contacted the children and spoke to the mother. She had gone to the neighbors for several minutes and then returned home. The mother was advised to never leave her children alone.

Report of a broken water line — The information will be given to the Forest Service.

Report of an arrest — Travis Copenhaver age 43 of Seattle, WA. Was arrested on a Elko Justice Court warrant.

New bookings — Christopher D. Carr, D.U.I., open container and basic speed, Bail $1,420; Travis Copenhaver, Elko Justice Court warrant, contempt of court, Bail $242.

March 9

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that a individual came into his place of employment and battered himself and another customer. The reporting party stated that the individual later came back and apologized for his actions. The reporting party requested no further law enforcement action. Officer reported while interviewing people in the area he made contact with Aaron K. Nall age 36 of Ely. Nall was arrested on a Henderson, NV Justice Court warrant.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that the power went off at a local gas station. Contact was made with the manager who stated that he had to re-bot the power to the gas station.

Report of a welfare check —The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his neighbor was yelling profanities at him. The neighbor was contacted and all the parties involved were advised to stay away from each other.

Report of injury to property — Reporting party stated that someone had scratched her vehicle and also pitted her windshield. A report was completed.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — Officer contacted the individual who stated that he was walking home.

Report of an injured subject — Officer located the individual who had fallen and cut his head. He was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that a individual was making rude faces at her. She was advised that no laws had been violated.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been engaged in a verbal argument over the separation of property. One of the parties involved had damaged the others vehicle. The parties were separated and investigation into the situation continues.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and assisted him in getting a room for the night.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer contacted the individual who was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The individual was identified as Brian N. Haynes age 47 of Ruth. Haynes was arrested for intoxicated pedestrian in a roadway.

New bookings — Aaron K. Nall, Henderson, NV Justice Court warrant, contempt of court, Bail $600; Brian N. Haynes, Intoxicated person in a roadway, Bail $355.

March 10

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were teasing her dog. Officer contacted the juveniles parent and advised her of the problem.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a possible fire — Officer located a burn barrel that was smoldering. He made contact with the responsible party who stated that he was aware of the situation.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and contacted the owner. The owner removed the vehicle from the roadway.

Report of a child custody problem — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument over the custody of their child. The parties involved came to a verbal agreement over visitation rights.

Report of a possible fraud — Reporting party stated that he is in charge of a deceased persons estate and that someone has been writing checks on the deceased persons account. Investigation continues.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who were fighting over the affections of a female. The parties were separated and advised to stay away from each other.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a individual causing a disturbance at a local bar. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.
