When Images Styling Salon by Melanie opened in 2000, she set out to make the people not only look good, but feel good about how they look.

“I have a passion for the beauty industry,” Melanie said. “I enjoy it because we are helping people look good and feel good about themselves.”

After attending school in Idaho and working for years in various hair salons, Melanie said she finally wanted to open her own place to be her own boss. While she works two jobs, she fills every Friday and every other Saturday with a full day of appointments that keep her plenty busy. The rest of her eight person staff keep the business running Monday through Saturday, but Melanie points out that Images is very flexible to fit peoples’ schedules.

“We don’t have hours per se,” she said. “If someone wants to come in early or later, or even on a Sunday, we can accommodate them.”

Melanie’s expertise is in her hair styling. She said she has done everything from typical cuts to more specialty looks like tall Mohawks or “a very high beehive style” one time during a competition. Melanie said she loves helping people find the look they had in mind, whether it’s a style, cut, extensions or even a brand new color.

“I get great enjoyment styling hair, but coloring is probably my favorite,” Melanie said.

In addition to hair, Images Styling Salon offers several other methods to help people look their best. Manicures, pedicures, tanning and massages are all offered at the versatile salon. Those looking to get rid of the hair on the rest of their body can also pay for waxing or “body sugaring” treatments to get the skin smooth to the touch. When it comes to what is the latest look in fashion, Melanie said the Salon keeps up on the trends to always provide the latest trendy look.

“You just have to learn and grow with the times because everything changes. You have to change to keep up with fashion,” Melanie said.

According to Melanie, the average haircut for men takes around 10 minutes and a half hour for women. Her shop carries full lines of beauty products for sale so they can continue to maintain their new look after they leave. Melanie recommends setting up appointments by calling 775-289-3221, though she said those that prefer using the web can also book appointments on the salon’s Facebook page “Imagez Stylin.”
