White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine Sheriff’s Office for April 8-13. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

APRIL 8, 2014

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The reporting party observed someone spotlighting in a wilderness area.  Deputies checked the area, but found nothing suspicious.

Report of a citizen assist — A deputy assisted a subject, whose car had stalled in the roadway.

Report of a truancy citation — A child was deemed a habitual truant and issued a citation.  A report was completed and submitted to the District Attorney’ Office.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a male had been rude toward his wife and was causing issues.  A report was completed.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone entered a building she owned and stole property.  The investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — Jonathan Scott Cracraft was arrested at his residence for a probation violation.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was contacted and assisted in finding a proper place to stay.

Report of a fraud — The reporting party claimed he had leased property to another person and was defrauded a large amount of money by said person.  The investigation continues.

Report of found drugs — A bag containing a controlled substance was found in a public building.  The narcotics were taken for destruction.

Report of a juvenile battery — The reporting party claimed his child had been battered by another child while in school.  A report was completed and will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a relative was damaging property in his home.  Officers located the alleged suspect, identified as 30 year old Walter Kennedy Jr, of Ely.  When approached, Kennedy fled from officers.  Walters was later apprehended for obstructing and delaying a public officer.

Report of graffiti — The reporting party found an area of his residence that had been defaced.  A report was completed.

Report of fraud — The reporting party claimed that an unknown subject was using the same mobile number as her own.  A report was completed.

Report of a music disturbance — The reporting party complained about a noise disturbance.  When officers checked the suspected residence, the tenant turned the music down.

APRIL 9, 2014

Report of illegal dumping — Reporting party stated that someone is dumping trash into his dumpster. The incident was documented.

Report of a accident / private property — Kenneth Bohrn of McGill was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him being operated by Jacqueline Bloom of Ely. Bohrn’s vehicle struck Bloom’s vehicle causing damage. A accident report was competed.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer investigated the incident and reported that the individual was identified and that no crime had occurred.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party was attempting to get some property back that was left at a friends home. Officer contacted the friend and the property was returned.

Report of a trespasser — Reporting party stated that a individual had urinated in front of their business. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the area.

Report of a unrestrained child in a car — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a unsafe driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a dog problem — The area was patrolled, but the barking dog was not located.

Report of a dog problem — The area was patrolled, but the dog at large was not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over visitation rights of a child. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a 911 hangup — The caller was advised of the consequence of the misuse of 911.

APRIL 10, 2014

Report of an alarm — The building was secure and an interior check of the building found nothing of interest.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed to have lost or had his wallet stolen while at work.  A report was completed.

Report of a trespasser — The reporting party claimed a male subject refused to leave private property.  Once the deputy arrived, the male was trespassed by the owner of the property.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claims someone has been tampering with the fuel pumps at a local depot.  A report was completed.

Report of an unattended death — Wallace Perkins passed away at his home due to a terminal illness.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party claimed someone damaged her vehicle.  A report was completed.

Report of an open door — An open door was found on a local business, which was unoccupied.  The business was checked and the owner was contacted to secure it.

Report of shoplifting — A local business reported a subject had left without paying for merchandise.  A license plate of the suspect’s vehicle was given, but found to be incorrect.

Report of a death — Darren Marsh found deceased in his home.  During the investigation, there were no signs of foul play.

Report of a juvenile shoplifter — The proprietor of a local store discovered a juvenile had attempted to conceal merchandise and leave without paying for it.  The juvenile was confronted and admitted to the act.  The juvenile was released to his guardian and a report was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed a male was exasperating her daughter.  Both parties were advised to surcease verbalizing impendences with each other.

Report of a disturbance — Officers arrived and found several people arguing over property while one was moving out of a residence.  All parties advised the property issue was civil in nature and warned about creating a disturbance.

Report of a dog at large — Unable to locate

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officers arrived and discovered the couple had only been arguing.  The female involved later threatened to harm herself and was taken to the emergency room.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The parties were located and found to only have been arguing.  They were warned about disturbing the peace and advised it may be best to separate for the evening.  Both parties agreed.

APRIL 11, 2014

Report of a vehicle disturbance — Officer received a report of a loud vehicle causing a disturbance. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a friend took her child on a day trip. The reporting party found out that the friend went to a different town then they had originally planed on going to. During the officers investigation the friend and child returned home.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several siblings fighting at a residence. Officer contacted the children involved and the parent who informed the officer that the a younger child was being watched by a older sibling and the younger child wasn’t minding. The siblings had gotten into a verbal argument. No crime had occurred.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a tenant was making to much noise. When the reporting party confronted him about it he had them all go to the managers office and try to work out the complaint. The incident was documented.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party was having problem with his roommate. He was advised on how to obtain a eviction notice.

Report of an accident — Barbara Ferguson of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Clark Street. She failed to maintain her lane of travel and struck a parked vehicle belonging to Christina Sandoval of McGill. Ferguson was issued a citation for failure to maintain lane of travel.

Report of a trespasser — Officers patrolled the area, but upon arrival the individual was not located.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that William R. Gergen age 32 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant for contempt of court.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Anthony S. Whitten age 46 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant for contempt of court.

Report of a suspicious subject — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

APRIL 12, 2014

Report of an accident — Officer contacted the individual involved and he reported that no accident had occurred. He had been involved in a argument with a individual inside his vehicle and had stopped abruptly.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Michael S. Mike age 25 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant for domestic battery and interruption of a communication device.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a individual had taken some hay he didn’t pay for. Officer investigated the incident and reported that it was a misunderstanding and that the hay had been payed for.

Report of several dog at large — The dogs were apprehended and taken to the Dog Pound.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a ex-employee who had been fired from a local business but had returned to the store. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the store.

Report of a custody problem — Officer provided information to the reporting party about child custody court orders.

Report of a parking problem — Officer located the vehicle and reported that the vehicle was properly parked.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that when he attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that the operator of the vehicle fled. Officer located the vehicle and arrested the operator who was identified as James E. McConnell age 39 of Ely. McConnell was arrested for Eluding a police officer, basic speed, stop sign violation, no valid drivers license, no insurance and operating a unregistered vehicle.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Christopher M. Wallace age 29 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant for contempt of court.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that a individual was digging up trees at a vacant home. Officer contacted the individual who had purchased the trees.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Bryan A. Fitzner Jr. age 28 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant for contempt of court / Bail $935

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that a juvenile boy had damaged his bike. Investigation continues.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer located the vehicle and a citation for passing in a no passing zone was issued to the operator of the vehicle.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that during his investigation Adam J. Watson age 38 of Ely war arrested. Watson was arrested for domestic battery and interruption of a communication devices. He is accused of battering his spouse.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a juvenile party — Officer received a report of a juvenile party where there was underage drinking. Officer contacted several of the party attendees who were issued citations for minor in consumption.

APRIL 13, 2014

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer located the vehicle which was parked and unoccupied.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Officer received a report of a individual laying next to a vehicle. Officer located the individual who was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a found syringa — The items was collected and disposed of.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of vandalism — Reporting party stated that several locks were missing off city property.

Report of a possible drunk driver / arrest — Officer received a report of a possible drunk driver. Officer located the vehicle which was parked and unoccupied. During the officers investigation Schyler L. Roberts age 19 of Ely was arrested. Roberts was arrested for minor in consumption.

Report of a injured deer — Officer located the deer and reported that it was able to leave the area on it own power.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Joseph M. Sandoval Jr. Was arrested for D.U.I.
