The small Lund High School Track and Field team had a good showing at the Southern Region Meet in Las Vegas May 16-17. While the temperatures were over 100 degrees both days the runners survived the heat to turn in some good marks. Junior Kelsea Reid had a big meet with first place finishes in the 100m (13.96) and 200m (30.47). She took 2nd in the 400m (1:10.98), and 3rd in the long jump (14’1”). Sophomore McCall Harness also scored big team points with a first place in the high jump (4’10”), 2nd in both triple jump (29’10”) and long jump (14’4”), and a 4rd place finish in the 100m (14.82). Both these girls qualified in all their events to compete in this week’s state meet in Carson City.
Four other Mustangs competed in the meet. Junior Hugo Armenta ran the 100m (13.01), 200m (27.52), and the 400m (1:01.02). Sophomore Wyatt Christensen threw the shot (29’2”) and discus (77’1”). Freshman Ana Armenta ran the 200m (35.13), 400m (1:25.82), and the 1600m (7:09.73). Freshman Gabe Harris ran the 300H (58.43), 400m (1:10.13), and triple jumped (30’5”).
