DeWayne Hall1A longtime resident of Orangevale, California, passed away May 12, 2014, at age 67 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and related Lewy-Body dementia.

Born and raised in Ely; predeceased by his parents, Darrel C. Hall and Madge Bunderson Hall.  Graduate of White Pine High School, class of 1963.

He had a brilliant mind and innumerable talents and realized great academic and professional success but his greatest satisfaction was in being the loving and devoted husband of sweetheart and wife of over 41 years, Louise Young Hall; the cherished and dedicated father of Kristina (Jason) McMillen and Dianna (Nathan) Boyce (all of Folsom, CA); the adoring grandfather of Noah and Luke Boyce and Kate McMillen; and a faithful lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  DeWayne served a mission for the LDS Church to Brazil and was truly a Brazilian at heart.  He was a graduate of Brigham Young University, obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics and finance, which led to his employment with the Federal Land Bank and its successor, the Farm Credit System.   He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed, among other places, in Cuba and Panama in connection with his assignments in naval intelligence.

In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, he also is survived by his younger brothers Dennis Hall of Seattle, WA, and Douglas and Dean Hall, both of Ely, and their families.  He will be sorely missed but forever fondly remembered for his keen intelligence, quick wit, unwavering integrity, kind heart, and love of chocolate chip cookies.

Memorial services were held in California on May 17, 2014.
