It’s a repeat!

The White Pine High School girls track team placed first at the division III state championship meet held at Carson High School on May 23 and 24. The girls, who were expected to have a close matchup against southern rival Meadows private school, pulled away on the second day after a better than expected performance in their distance running.

Shania Marques won her fourth straight state title in the high jump (more information on page 7A) as the only athlete to place first in an event on the team.

The boys finished in a surprising third place, after having several controversial disqualifications in the divisional meet in Las Vegas.

Check back next week for a full break down of all the White Pine High School’s Spring teams in our team by team season recap.
