Born on April 21, 1930 in Hazelton North Dakota to Jake Grossman and Ida Schiermeister. Passed away on November 22, 2013 in Cypress CA. Predeceased by Mark Zigich (son) on September 9, 1999 and Dutch Zigich (husband) on August 17, 2000.
Florence and Dutch were married on December 12, 1953 in Ely Nevada. In 1955 they made their way out to Southern California settling in Orange and finally retiring to Banning in 1991. Florence was a Registered Nurse and always had a heart for the precious elderly. She worked at various places throughout her career, but I believe her favorite times were the 13 years she spent as a supervisor at Care House Convalescent Hospital in Orange CA.
Mom, I’m thrilled you are finally “home” with Mark and daddy. I saw your light dim the day we lost Mark, and it further dimmed when we lost dad. Your amazing strength and spirit carried on for 13 more years, but I could see that life would never hold the joy it once had. My life will never be the same now that all of you are gone; but, my sadness is tempered by the promise of Jesus Christ that you, Mark and dad are now feasting at the Lord’s table and are together again for all eternity. Give them a hug for me, mom, and save me a place at that table. Make it the “end” of the table, because dad and I will have to run off and tee it up right after dinner! Can’t wait to see you all again…
Your daughter, Linda Zigich-Hicks
Thank you Auntie Phyllis Martineau and Auntie Sharon Grossman (both mom’s younger sisters) for all the help, guidance and emotional support you gave me these past few years as we watched mom slowly fade away. She loved you dearly and I am truly blessed to have you in my life. I love you both.
Graveside services on June 21, 2014 @ 10:00am at Ely Cemetery.
