White Pine Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine Sheriff’s Office for July 8-15. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JULY 9

Report of a theft — A male juvenile hailed a deputy and reported that someone stole his bicycle.  A report was taken and the juvenile reporting party, as well as three other juveniles, were later taken into custody for being out after curfew.  The children were released to their guardians.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The vehicle was located and found to be without fuel.

Report of a dog problem — Two dogs were observed to be at large on or near a highway.  The dogs fled the area prior to animal control arriving.

Report of animal cruelty — The reporting party claimed a neighbor was neglecting his livestock.  The ranch was checked and found to have adequate water and feed.

Report of a red tagged vehicle — An abandoned vehicle was red tagged for removal.

Report of a vehicle violation — A vehicle was reportedly parked in the roadway.  When officers arrived, the vehicle was moved.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party alleged vandalism to some playground equipment.  A report was completed.

Report of a bad check — The reporting party received two checks from two individuals for services rendered.  Both checks were returned for non-sufficient funds.  A report was completed and was submitted to the DA’s Office for review.

Report of fraud — The reporting party claimed someone had used his credit card without his consent.  A report was completed.

JULY 10

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed his ex-girlfriend and her family had been harassing him telephonically.  Contact to be made with the ex-girlfriend.

Report of an accident — Andrea Potter, of McGill, was backing from a parked position and struck Garrett Williams, of Ely.  A report was completed.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party discovered someone damaged her vehicle.  A report was completed.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed two juveniles purchased items at a convenience store with some rare coins. A report was completed.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone entered her home and stole several items.  The investigation continues.

Report of a TPO violation — The reporting party claimed a temporary protection order had been violated.  Contact to be made with the adverse party.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party located three puppies which had been abandoned.  The reporting party was going to attempt to find homes for the puppies.

Report of a 911 hangup — The residence was checked and found the issue was a faulty phone line.

JULY 11

Report of a curfew violation — Officer reported that while he was patrolling the Ely area he located a juvenile out past the hours of curfew. The juvenile was detained and later released to her guardian.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer located the vehicle, but no driving problems were observed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his home and stole his medication.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that he was fine.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statements about what had taken place. They were advised to keep the peace and the parties separated for the night.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that his neighbor made some threats towards him. Officer contacted the neighbor who denied the allegation. The parties involved were advised to stay away from each other.

Report of an ATV disturbance —  The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that his bicycle had been stolen. Officer located the individual who had stolen the bike and identified him as Christian Medina of Ely. He was issued a citation for petit larceny.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of found drug paraphernalia — Reporting party stated that she had located a pipe used to inhale a controlled substance next to her business. The item was collected and destroyed.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was piling up dirt blocking his road to his home. Officer is attempting to contact the responsible party who hauled in the dirt.

Report of a disturbance — Officer patrolled the area, but nothing was located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Shannon L. Jacaway age 38 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant, for contempt of court.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had dented his vehicle.

Report of a barking dog — Officer contacted the owner of the barking dog and advised him of the problem.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that her juvenile granddaughter had snuck out of the residence. While the officer was patrolling the area looking for the juveniles she returned home. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

JULY 12

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer patrolled the area, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Dakota Hunt age 22 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation. During Hunts arrest an individual identified as David N. Pope age 31 of Ely was causing a disturbance interfering with the officer’s arrest. Pope was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that during a traffic stop Nicholas Arzoomanian age 21 of Kissimmee, FL was arrested for basic speed, possession of a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that when he received his property back from his ex-girlfriend some money was missing.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that while he was sitting inside his vehicle he was approached by an individual who then struck him in the face. During the officers investigation Cade M. Herring age 36 of Ely was identified as the individual causing the battery. Herring was arrested for burglary and battery. The reporting party was identified as Jason Orman age 40 of St. George, UT. During the officers investigation Orman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic device and possession of a controlled substance.

Report of a suspicious subject — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of threats — Officer attempted to contact the reporting party, but he was not at home.

Report of shots fired — The area was patrolled, but no problems were reported.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of a barking dog — Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised him of the problem.

JULY 13

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of an accident — Officer contacted the individual involved who had struck a rabbit with his vehicle. The reporting party requested no accident be investigated.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of injury to property — Reporting party stated that someone had kicked her door. The incident was documented.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that the father of her children took them several days ago and hasn’t returned them. Officer reported that no court order was in affect for the custody of the children. The report was forwarded to D.C.F.S.

Report of a custody problem — reporting party stated that a child was refusing to follow the child custody order. The child was contacted and advised to follow the court order.

Report of a injured hawk — The hawk was taken to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Report of an open door — Officer secured the door on the vacant home.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of an injured horse — Reporting party stated that her horse had received an injury to its head. Officer documented the injury and reported that it was unknown how it occurred.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that her boyfriend had become mad while they were riding around in her vehicle. The boyfriend then punched the dashboard of the vehicle causing damage. Investigation continues.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a barking dog — Officer located the barking dog and reported that when the owner is located he will be issued a citation for allowing his dogs to continually bark.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that a light is on in a vacant home. The home was checked and no problems were reported.

JULY 14

Report of suspicious circumstances — Officer received a report of several dead rabbits in the roadway. The rabbits were removed.

Report of a illegally parked vehicle — The vehicle was tagged for removal.

Report of a possible sexual assault — Officer received a report of a possible sexual assault that had taken place a year ago. Investigation continues.

Report of a found purse — The owner of the purse was contacted and it was returned.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individuals and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a citizens assist — Officer contacted an individual who had sustained an injury to her ankle. The parent of the injured subject was contacted.

Report of a possible fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had listed his car for sale on the internet. Investigation continues.

Report of a theft of power — Reporting party stated that an individual had plugged his motorhome into county power. The individual was contacted and the power was disconnected.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer reported that the owner of the vehicle was moving into a residence in the neighborhood.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that his girlfriend was refusing to give him his property back. The girlfriend was contacted and the problem was resolved.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer made contact with the operator of a vehicle, who was a juvenile that did not possess a driver’s license. The juvenile had also consumed alcohol. The juvenile along with his passengers were detained and later released to their guardians.

JULY 15

Report of a TPO violation — City – the reporting party claimed she had a protection order against a former boyfriend, and he had violated the order.  The investigation continues.

Report of a custody issue — The reporting party claimed her ex-husband was not following their child custody agreement.  The deputy discovered the custody agreement was through another jurisdiction, and the child resided in that jurisdiction.

Report of an attempt to locate — City – a child left home after an argument with her parents and had not returned.  The child later returned.

Report of a domestic dispute — The couple was located and found to be only arguing.

Report of a private property accident — Richard Sears, of Ely, was backing from a parked position and struck a sign.  A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — The deputy checked the area, but the juveniles were gone.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and claimed to be fine.
