With the holidays fast approaching life seems to speed up. There are meals to plan, presents to wrap, baking to be done and parties to attend. It seems as though each year time flies faster and faster. We find ourselves standing in the living room staring blankly at empty boxes, tatters of wrapping paper laying on the floor and wondering where the last month went. What happened to the plans to get together with family and friends for some quality time? Wasn’t it just the other day we were telling someone “Let’s get together for lunch. I really need to take a break.” This holiday season the Holiday Fashion Show committee would like to offer you the opportunity to do just that. All with an added bonus of supporting a wonderful cause that brings help to children in our community every month. The Sixth Annual Holiday Fashion Show will be held Nov. 29th. All proceeds from this year’s fashion show will again go to the C.A.C.H. program. C.A.C.H. (Committee Against Child Hunger) has been working diligently to provide over 700 “weekend backpacks” filled with 1000 calories a day of nutritious foods that the children can prepare themselves. The program is currently providing backpacks to David E. Norman, McGill Elementary, Steptoe Valley High School, White Pine Middle School, Learning Bridge Charter School and Head Start.
The Bristlecone Convention Center will once again provide a beautiful winter wonderland backdrop for local merchants to highlight some of the great holiday shopping opportunities offered right here at home. Participants this year include Ridley’s Market, The Garnet Mercantile, V & S Variety, Andy’s Western Wear, Family Dollar, Economy Drug, Sahara Motors, Perk Skirts, The Cove and Long Golf. The White Pine Players will be performing during the cocktail hour and luncheon.
Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch is served at noon and the fashion show follows dessert. Tickets are $25 through Nov. 22 and $30 after that date. You can get your ticket at Economy Drug. Seating is limited and as of Nov. 17 there were only about 60 tickets left. Don’t miss out on this wonderful afternoon!
