Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JAN. 21

Report of a prowler — The area was checked and no one was located.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject broke into her vehicle and took personal property. The investigation continues.

Report of a suspicious subject — The reporting party claimed a male subject was dancing near the side of the road and yelling at vehicles passing by.  Contact was made with the subject who agreed not to yell at anyone.

Report of a fire — A fire was observed behind a vacant house, which was extinguished by the fire department.  27 year old Kentucky resident Eric Rivera was found in the area and admitted to lighting the fire to stay warm.  Rivera was found to not be the owner of the property which he ignited and was arrested for injury to property.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole one or more firearms from his residence.  The investigation continues.

Report of a dog bite — The owner of the dog claimed his dog bit his juvenile son while the son was playing with the dog.  A report was completed and will be forwarded to the Animal Control Officer.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Contact was made with both subjects and it was found that it was only an argument.  Both parties separated for the night.

Report of a suicide attempt — The reporting party claimed to have received information that his brother was going to commit suicide.  The brother was located and denied being suicidal.

Report of a possible intoxicated driver — Deputies searched the area for the alleged vehicle, but did not locate it.

Report of theft — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject took several items from his property.  A report was completed.

JAN. 23

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that while staying at a local motel someone entered into his room and stole some of his medication. Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic battery — Officers received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. Officer reported that Brittany S. Best age 23 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery. During the officers investigation Best was accused of battering her roommates.

Report of a death — Officers received a report that Great Basin Park Rangers had located a vehicle belonging to an individual who was reported missing out of the state of Utah. Officers searched the area and located the individual who had taken his own life. He was identified as Kyle S. Trammell age 26 of Salt Lake City, UT.

Report of a 911 hangup — Officer contacted the occupant of the home who stated that he was fine.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his adult son, whom he has problems with is sneaking into his camper trailer and sleeping. The reporting party was advised to call the Sheriff’s Office when the son returns.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her husband has been bringing his new girlfriend to their home and she doesn’t want her there. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer received a report of an individual walking along a rural highway The individual was provided a ride to the Ely area, due to the cold weather.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

JAN. 24

Report of an open door — Officer located an open door on a closed business. The business was checked and the door secured.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had fallen out of his chair and was unable to get up.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that two individuals were loitering around an apartment complex. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Lourdes Medina age 88 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

Report of an injured hawk — Reporting party stated that a hawk had flown into a door at her residence and was injured. The hawk was checked out and later released.

Report of a dog at large — The dog was captured and taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

Report of an alarm — False alarm, a child had pulled the fire alarm.

Report of a 911 hangup — The individuals at the business were contacted and were fine.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that he received a text message from an individual warning him that another person was going to fight him. The incident was documented.

Report of a dead dog — Officer reported that the dog had been struck on a highway by a vehicle and had died.

Report of a citizen assist — Reporting party had gotten his vehicle stuck on Success Loop. Officers provided him a ride to a local motel.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that someone keeps knocking on his door and running away. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local bar. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the establishment.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that it was a verbal argument. During the officers investigation Raelynne N. Mitchell age 18 of Ely was arrested. Mitchell was arrested for minor in consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

JAN. 25

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual laying alongside a rural highway. The individual was contacted and provided a ride to the Ely area.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that while he was at a local bar his eyes starting burning and thought he might have been pepper sprayed. The bar and other patrons were checked and no other problems were reported.

Report of unwanted telephone calls — Reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend. Reporting party feels threatened by the calls. The ex-boyfriend lives in another state. The reporting party was provided information on how to apply for a protective order. Officers contacted the caller and advised him to stop his contact with the reporting party.

Report of an attempted theft — Reporting party stated that an individual came to her place of employment and attempted to steal an item. The individual was confronted by the reporting party and he dropped the item and left the business. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a juvenile had entered into her place of business and stole an item. The juvenile was detained and the item recovered. He was later released to his parent. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were riding their bikes in the roadway and would not move when cars came by. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a suspicious subject — The individual was contacted and no problems were reported.

Report of an unattended child — Reporting party stated that a small child had walked into her yard and was playing with her dog. Officer located the parent of the child who stated she had left her home and left the child with an older sibling. The mother was warned about the proper care of her children.

Report of a cat problem — Reporting party stated that a stray cat entered into her home and she can’t get it out. Officer assisted in removing the cat.

JAN. 26

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that he had two stray dogs in his yard. The reporting party was going to contain them until animal control could pick them up.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Officer received a report of possible exploitation of an elderly male. During the officers investigation it was determined that family members had already intervened and were controlling the situation.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the mother and child and they were fine.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of two individuals causing a disturbance at a local bar. The individuals were contacted and one of them needed medical attention. She was taken to the E.R. by ambulance. No other problems were reported.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Sharlene E. Grant age 65 of McGill died at her residence due to natural causes.

Report of a violation of a court order — Reporting party stated that his son had violated a protective order he has against him. Officers investigated the incident and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a problem with a subject at a local bar. Officer contacted the individual who was intoxicated and sleeping in the bar area. He was woken up and advised to leave.

JAN. 27

Report of a problem with a subject — A local business reported a male subject was intoxicated and passed-out on the premises.  The subject, identified as 27 year old Ray Strong, of Tonalea, AZ, was contacted and advised to leave the property.  Strong left the property, entered a vehicle, and began driving away.  The vehicle was stopped and Strong was arrested for driving under the influence.  During the arrest, Strong failed to listen to commands and was later charged with resisting arrest.

Report of an alarm — The alarm was fictitious.

Report of suspicious subjects — Two subjects were seen walking and one appeared to be concealing a firearm.  Two subjects matching the description were located, but neither had possession of a firearm.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party was cleaning out a desk at his workplace and discovered a flash drive which contained nude photos of a minor.  The investigation continues.

Report of a welfare check — The child was located and found to be okay.
