Submitted by the White Pine Sheriff’s Office for April 8-13. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

APRIL 8

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer assisted an individual with his elderly mother who is suffering from dementia. Assistance was provided.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Randy Coleman age 22 of Las Vegas, NV was operating a vehicle and was stopped for speeding. During the officers investigation it was determined that Coleman was operating a stolen vehicle. He was then arrested. Coleman was arrested for possession of stolen property, basic speed, driving suspended, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that someone was breaking into his home. Officer made contact with the reporting party and the reporting parties’ friend. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a welfare check on several horses — Officer reported that the animals were in good shape and had food and water.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that he witnessed a vehicle back into another vehicle and then leave the scene. Officer reported that the parked and unoccupied vehicle belonged to Rosanaldo Rivera of Ely. Officer located the striking vehicle which was operated by Janet Moulton of Ely. Moulton was issued a citation for hit and run accident, and immediate notice to police.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual who stated that he was fine.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had filed an income tax return using his information. The reporting party stated that he is currently working with the IRS to fix the problem. The incident was documented.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

New bookings — Randy Coleman / Possession of stolen property, basic speed, driving suspended, and possession of drug paraphernalia/ Bail $9,000.

APRIL 9

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who stated that he had a verbal argument with his wife. The wife had left the scene operating a vehicle. She was later located and arrested for D.U.I. She was identified as Shawn N. Rutledge age 41 of Ely.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a bad check — The check was collected from the local business and turned over to the City Attorney for collections / prosecution.

Report of a lost passport — Reporting party stated that he had lost his passport. The incident was documented.

Report of a fire — County Fire Department responded to a fire that had occurred. The reporting party stated that he had observed several juveniles in the area right before the fire happened. Investigation continues.

Report of a dog at large — Reporting party stated that a stray dog was in his yard and wouldn’t allow him to enter his home. Officer assisted Animal Control in capturing the dog.

APRIL 10

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his room and had rummaged through his belonging. Reporting party stated that nothing had been taken. Investigation continues.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and she was fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer arrested Jacqueline L. Peterson age 43 of Ely on an Ely Municipal Court warrant. During her arrest she was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine.

Report of found hypodermic needles — The items were collected and destroyed.

Report of an attempted fraud — Reporting party stated that she is selling a motorcycle on line and has been contacted by an individual several times wanting to buy it. She also received several alters indicating the buyer was fraudulent. The incident was documented.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that an individual had threatened to harm a person. The person making the threats was contacted who denied the allegation. The information was documented.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who stated that it was a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Brian S. Boots age 40 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

Report of a welfare check — Officer located the overdue campers and they were fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Tiffany Digiandomenico age 25 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant for burglary.

APRIL 11

Report of a welfare check on a dog — Officer received a report of a dog that was placed into a dog crate without food or water. The area was patrolled, but the dog was not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that she had been involved in a verbal argument with her husband. The husband had left the residence before officers arrived.

Report of an accident / private property — Bradley Christenson of Ely reported that his vehicle had been struck by a semi-truck. The operator of the semi-truck didn’t realize she had struck his vehicle and had left the scene. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the operator who was identified as Janeal Mathews of Ely. An accident report was completed.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that her juvenile daughter is receiving unwanted text messages. The sender of the messages was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the daughter.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her landlord was moving her items out of her rental. The parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was removed from the train due to he was causing a disturbance. Nevada Highway Patrol provided the individual a ride back to Ely.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles riding their bikes into traffic. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a parking problem — Reporting party stated that her neighbor parks his car to close to hers. The parties involved were contacted and advised to park appropriately.

Report of an accident — Joaquin Alpuy of Buhl, ID was operating a vehicle on SR 893 when he struck a cow. An accident report was completed.

Report of an accident — Diaz Pelegrin of Pasco, WA was operating a vehicle on US 93 when he stated he lost control of the steering to the vehicle. He then collided into two vehicles. One belonging to Dale Chilson of McGill and the other belonging to David Willes of McGill. Pelegrin was issued a citation for due care. An accident report was completed.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that he is getting unwanted text messages from his ex-girlfriend. Officers are attempting to contact the ex-girlfriend.

Report of an accident — Tylor Jackson a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle when he lost control of it causing it to strike a large rock causing the vehicle to overturn. Jackson was issued a citation for driving without a valid driver’s license. An accident report was completed.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a brush fire — Officer extinguished the fire that had been started by the train.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that he was fine.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individual and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were involved in a verbal argument. The parties separated for the night.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog that was in a dog crate and had been there for a long period of time. Officer removed the dog from the crate and placed it in the dog pound. The owner of the dog will be issued a citation when located.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog locked inside a vehicle without proper ventilation. The area was patrolled, but no dog was located inside a vehicle.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local bar. When officers arrived the individual had already left.

Report of a violation of a protection order — Officer investigated the incident and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

APRIL 13

Report of jay walkers — Reporting party stated that people are jay walking in the area of Great Basin and Aultman Street causing a traffic problem. The area was patrolled.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that the City of Ely was doing work near his vehicle which was causing dust and rocks to hit his vehicle. Officer contacted the parties involved and the situation was resolved.

Report of a welfare check on a dog — Officer received a report of a dog being left in a camp trailer. The dog was checked on and was fine.

Report of an unlicensed driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a bad check — The checked was collected and turned over to the City Attorney for collections / prosecution.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer contacted the parent and the child who had stolen an item from a local school.  The juvenile was counseled about his behavior.

Report of a scam — Reporting party stated that she received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be from the power company. She was advised that she was behind on her payment for power and if she didn’t pay they would shut her power off. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the caller.

Report of a motorist assist — Officer assisted a motorist who had ran out of gas on US 50.
