AUG. 5

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed to have heard someone yelling. When officers arrived, they discovered there had been an argument between a couple at a nearby residence.

Report of an alarm — The alarm was false.

Report of an open door — The reporting party observed her neighbor’s door open. The residence was checked and everything appeared normal. The door was secured.

Report of a problem with a subject — A local motel reportedly fired an employee for theft and wanted her removed from the room she was occupying. Contact was made with the ex-employee, who left without incident.

Report of threats of suicide — The reporting party claimed her juvenile daughter was threatening suicide. The daughter was counseled and said she would be fine.

Report of injury to property — The reporting party claimed an unknown person did damage to property belonging to his employer. A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed three subjects were at her workplace, causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Contact was made with the subjects, who left without incident.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole her personal property from her vehicle sometime within the last year. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — The manager of a local business claimed an employee was stealing cash from the business.  The incident was captured on video. The employee was terminated prior to law enforcement involvement. Contact to be made with the ex-employee.

Report of an arrest — 36 year old Miakoda Fitzner of Ely was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Report of a child found — The reporting party found a small child in her yard. Prior to officers arriving, the neighbor retrieved her child, who had just learned to open the front door. All parties checked ok.

Report of a parking violation — When the deputy arrived, the vehicle had been moved.

Report of threatening text messages — The reporting party showed officers several threatening text messages from a family member.  The family member was contacted and advised to stop, which he said he would comply.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a male was at his residence arguing over personal property.  He was advised the property matter was civil in nature, and to handle it as such.

Report of a battery — The reporting party was riding an ATV in a remote area when a subject appeared from a blind and drew a bow back, pointing it at the reporting party.  Contact was made with the male subject, who denied having an arrow nocked.  Investigation continues.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed a male subject stole his mobile phone.  Deputies were unable to locate the male at the time of the incident.  The investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — It was discovered that the subjects had only been arguing.  They separated for the night.

Report of a problem with a subject — The bartender at a local tavern reported a female kept trying to come into the business after being previously removed.  Contact was made with the female and she was advised not to return.

AUG. 6

Report of a suspicious subject — The reporting party claimed a male was intoxicated, hugging a fire hydrant. The subject was located and was neither intoxicated, nor hugging the fire hydrant.

Report of a stolen vehicle — The reporting party claimed his vehicle had been stolen. Prior to him calling, deputies with the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office had located the vehicle and arrested the two juveniles responsible for not only the vehicle theft, but also the burglary of another vehicle. The juveniles were transported to Elko Juvenile Detention Facility.

Report of an alarm — The alarm was found to be accidentally activated by an employee.

Report of a trespasser — A female was reportedly trespassing on property that was previously condemned.  The female was contacted and claimed not to know the property was unsafe.  They left the area without incident.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to be receiving threatening voice mails. The suspect was contacted and advised to stop the phone calls and stay away from the reporting party.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole outdoor maintenance equipment from a shed. The investigation continues.

Report of a suspicious subject — The subject was located and advised to stay out of the road.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to have gotten in an argument with a family member.  A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party observed a juvenile throwing rocks at a residence.  The juveniles denied throwing the rocks.  Another witness also described the suspect juvenile to be throwing rocks at a residence. A report was completed and will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a barking dog — The reporting party complained about a neighbor’s dog barking. The deputy attempted to contact the neighbor, but no one was home.

Report of a domestic dispute — Contact was made with the subjects involved and the incident appeared to be verbal in nature.  The parties separated for the night.

Report of suspicious circumstances — An unusual odor was reported, but nothing out of the ordinary was located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — A deputy observed a couple arguing outside a tavern.  The couple was contacted and they agreed to separate for the night.

Report of threats —The reporting party claimed to be receiving threats from her boyfriend. Deputes were unable to locate the boyfriend.

Report of an open door on a vehicle — The area was patrolled, but no vehicle with an open door was located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had gained access to her checking account and had written a check that she didn’t authorize. Investigation continues.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individual and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a suspicious smell — Officer reported that the smell was propane. The owner of the home was contacted who stated that he would have the problem fixed.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that William K. Sprouse age 31 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — Officer located the individual who was laying on the sidewalk. The individual was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individual and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a hit and run accident — David Dabaghian of Carmichael, CA reported that his vehicle was parked at a local parking lot when another vehicle backed into it causing damage. The striking vehicle fled the scene. A report was completed.

Report of a dog at large — Officer reported that the owner of the dog was issued a citation for dog at large.

Report of a barking dog — Officer located the barking dog, but the owner was not at home. Contact with the owner will be made at a later date.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

AUG. 8

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that he was not intoxicated. The operator of the vehicle did have in his possession some marijuana and drug paraphernalia and he was issued a citation for both violations.

Report of a trespasser — Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that several individuals were removing items off a property that he has a lien on. Officer reported that during his investigation it was determined to be a civil problem.

Report of a trespasser — Reporting party stated that she is out of the Ely area and she found out that a person was staying at her home. Officer contacted the individual and trespassed her from the home.

Report of a dog at large — The area was patrolled, but the dog was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from her ex-boyfriend threatening to break into her home and remove some property. The incident was documented.

Report of an open window on a school — Officer reported that several people were inside the school painting and had opened the window for ventilation.

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that her roommates always borrows her stuff and return it later. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem and to discuss it with her roommates.

Report of graffiti — Reporting party stated that someone had placed graffiti on a bathroom at the county fairgrounds. The incident was documented.

Report of an open gate — Officer contacted the property owner and he secured the gate to his business.

Report of an accident — Anthony Barber of Ely reporting that while traveling on SR 318 he struck a dog that ran into the roadway. The dog caused damage to his vehicle. A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that while she was out camping an individual entered into their camp site and was causing a disturbance. Officer reported that BLM was contacted and the BLM Ranger issued the individual a citation for entering into a camp site and causing a disturbance.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that several individuals came to his home and battered him. Officer reported that during his investigation Jason B. Spear age 36 of Ely, Zach W. Strong age 18 of Ruth, and Anthony K. Robertson age 22 of McGill were arrested. Spear was arrested for obstructing a police officer, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Strong was arrested for obstructing a police officer and Robertson was arrested for obstructing a police officer. Investigation into the battery continues.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had scratched his vehicle. The incident was documented.

AUG. 9

Report of an ambulance assist — Officer assisted the Ely ambulance with an elderly male who was being combative and needed medical attention.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — Officer received a report of an intoxicated person urinating on a public street. Officer patrolled the area and contacted Rusten Adkins age 31 of Ely. Adkins was arrested on a probation violation.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had broken a piece of plywood that was covering up a window on a vacant building. The building was checked and secured.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Reporting party stated that a vehicle had driven by his home several times and the driver had been making rude gestures. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen two bicycles from his yard. The incident was documented.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer contacted the juvenile and her parents who were detaining their juvenile daughter due to threats that she was going to harm herself. The juvenile was taken to E.R. for medical assistance.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of juveniles shooting BB guns around a home. Officer contacted the parents and the juveniles who were shooting air soft guns. All parties involved were advised to try and get along with each other.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a father and son arguing over property. Officer spoke to the parties involved and the property was returned to the rightful owner.

Report of an injured hiker — Report was given to Great Basin Nation Park Ranger

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer received a report of loud music coming from a residence. Officer contacted the occupants of the home and advised them to turn their music down.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that he used his credit card at a local business in Ely and when he reviewed his credit card account another charge had been added to it. Investigation continues.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that an individual was moving his property out of an apartment and while doing so damaged some of the property. Officer is attempting to locate the person who moved the property.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicles were not located.

Report of shots fired — Reporting party stated that he heard several gun shots. The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and she was fine.

AUG. 10

Report of an open door — Officer reported that an open door was located on a business that was closed for the night. The business was checked and the door secured.

Report of an alarm — The area was patrolled, but the car alarm was not located.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that his roommate was attempting to get into their apartment by kicking the door in. This caused damage to the door. The roommate had left before officers arrived. The incident was documented.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had damaged the Ghost Town City along the railroad route. The incident was documented.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an agency assist — Officers assisted Ely Animal Control with a dog problem.

Report of a welfare check — Officer reported that the individual was fine.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had taken an item from her place of business without paying for it. Officer identified the individual as Jack L. Bennett. He was issued a citation for petit larceny.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a firearm had been stolen from him while he was visiting another state. He was advised to contact the proper jurisdiction in the state where the crime had occurred.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were throwing rocks at him while he was playing at a local playground. All the juveniles and their parents were contacted and advised of the situation.

Report of an accident / arrest — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident that had occurred and when he arrived on scene the vehicle involved was leaving the area. Officer stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as John R. Hill Jr. age 48 of Ely. Hill was arrested for driving on right side required and D.U.I.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Ann R. Winfrey age 62 of Salem, OR was arrested for head lamps required and D.U.I.

Report of an injured deer — Reporting party stated that a deer had been struck by a vehicle and was injured. The area was patrolled, but the deer was not located.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that she was operating a vehicle on US 93 when she struck a dog. The owner of the dog was contacted and advised that her dog was deceased.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted a citizen who had a water leak inside her home. The water to the leaking appliance was turned off.

AUG. 11

Report of a dog at large — Officer apprehended the dogs and they were taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was sleeping on his property. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the area.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Holley Asaro age 32 of Ely was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of an accident — Tyler M. Harmon of Ely was operating a vehicle making a left hand turn from Aultman Street onto 5th Street. As he did so he failed to yield to a vehicle being operated by David Homan of Ely. Harmon’s vehicle struck Homan’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Harman was issued a citation for left turn failure to yield.

Report of a parking problem — Reporting party stated that an individual had abandoned a vehicle on his property. The reporting party had the vehicle towed from the area.

Report of a possible trespasser — The area was checked and no one was located.

Report of a fire — The report was given to Ely BLM.

Report of possible elderly abuse — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that the abuse was unfounded.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from her ex-boyfriend. Officers are attempting to locate the ex-boyfriend.

Report of a welfare check — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a lost and found item — Reporting party stated that he located a backpack on his property. The item was placed into lost and found.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of a barking dog — The area was patrolled, but no barking dog was located.

Report of a stolen gun — Reporting party stated that he had stayed at a local motel and when he checked out he forgot a gun he had left in the room. Officer contacted the motel manager and he reported that no gun had been turned in by his cleaning staff. Investigation continues.
