Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCT. 7

Report of an over due hunter — The individual was located and was fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Larry R. Stephens age 62 of Boulder City, NV was arrested for D.U.I.

Report of a bad check — Reporting party stated that she had received several bad checks from the same person for payment of fees. The checks were collected from the reporting party and were turned over to the City Attorney for collections.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that they had a family member living with them for approximately a month and when the family member moved out several items were missing. Investigation continues.

Report of a unlicensed driver — Officer contacted the individual who was not driving at the time and advised her not to be driving.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer performed a standby at the clinic due to the possibility of a patient that was going to cause a problem. No problems were reported.

Report of a gas skip — Officer reported that the individual had paid for the gas. No crime had occurred.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

Report of lost property — Reporting party stated that she lost her prescription medication while in the Ely area. A report was completed.

Report of harassing text messages — Reporting party stated that he had received a text message from an individual that was threatening. Officer observed the message and documented the incident. Contact will be made with the sender of the text message.

OCT. 8

Report of an alarm — The alarm was false.

Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party discovered a small child playing near a roadway.  Contact was made with the child’s mother and the child was returned.

Report of a reckless driver — The deputy located the vehicle and spoke to the operator, identified as 19 year old Devin McCarthy, of Ely.  It was later discovered that the vehicle McCarthy was operating had been reported as stolen.  McCarthy was arrested without incident.

Report of an arrest — 25 year old Ely resident, Joseph Opipari, was arrested at his residence on a Municipal Court warrant.

Report of an arrest — 27 year old Ely resident, Gavin Craw, was arrested on a Municipal Court warrant.

Report of an arrest — 24 year old Ely resident, Nikole Richardson, turned herself in on a Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed an unknown male subject entered into her workplace and stole several thousand dollars.  The investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties separated for the night and were advised to keep the peace.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a fight — When officers arrived the parties involved had separated. One of them had already left the area. The other party involved stated that it was a verbal argument.

Report of an accident — Reannan L. Peacock of Ely was operating a vehicle and failed to maintain her lane of travel. She struck a parked vehicle belonging to Karen Livingston of Ely. An accident report was completed.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Ethel J. Rimington age 73 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

Report of a fire — Officer located the fire and advised a transient traveling through the area had started it to keep warm. He was advised to put it out.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Sara Z Acord age 33 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant

Report of an accident — Officer reported that Evan Fowles of Baker was operating a vehicle traveling on CR 42 when his vehicle left the roadway causing it to roll. Fowles was taken to E.R. by ambulance. Investigation into the accident continues.

Report of a motorist assist — Officer assisted a motorist whose vehicle was in the roadway due to it brakes being stuck.

Report of a subject with a gun — Officer received a report of an individual with a rifle and he was waving it around. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Leonard L. Mathews age 32 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of civil problem — Report party stated that he had gotten fuel at a local gas station and was having a problem paying for it. Officer contacted the parties involved and the situation was resolved.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

OCT. 10

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog that was locked inside a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and the welfare of the dog was checked.

Report of a found motorcycle frame — The frame was checked and no crime had occurred.

Report of an ambulance assist — Officer assisted with a female who was having problems breathing. E.M.S. arrived and assisted the female.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual obtained propane from his place of business then left without paying. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Devin T. Hutchison age 30 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

OCT. 11

Report of a barking dog — Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised him of the problem.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who stated that she had been battered by another female. The reporting party requested no law enforcement action. The incident was documented.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that she had recently adopted a dog and the dog has turned out to be very aggressive. The owner surrendered the dog and it was placed into the Ely Dog Pound.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Audrey Hale age 46 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a possible fire — Officer reported that no fire was located only smoke from the train.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — When officers arrived the vehicle had left the area.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individuals who were attempting to fix their car. No crime had occurred.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that an individual who he owes money to was threatening to damage his vehicle. Officer is attempting to contact the person making the threats.

Report of stolen property — Reporting party stated that several firearms were stolen from his home. Investigation continues.

OCT. 12

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer located the individual who was intoxicated and trying to find his home. The individual was advised to leave the area and to go home.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party requested information about laws concerning juveniles. The information was provided.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Stacy Carrico age 53 of Ely was arrested. Carrico who had left the scene was later located and stopped in the Ely area. She was arrested for D.U.I., domestic battery with strangulation, false imprisonment, and child endangerment.

Report of an accident — Renee M. Rajala of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. As she did she failed to see a vehicle behind her operated by John Piche of San Francisco, CA. Rajala was issued a citation for unsafe backing and no insurance. An accident report was completed.

Report of a suicidal subject — Officer contacted the individual and took him to E.R. for medical assistance.

Report of an open door — Officer reported that he located an open door on a construction site trailer. The door was secured and the owner was notified.

New bookings — Stacy Carrico / D.U.I., domestic battery with strangulation, false imprisonment, and child endangerment/ Bail $30,890.

OCT. 13

Report of a truancy — Officer received a report of a student at a local school that has several unexcused absences. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation and the student will be issued a citation for truancy.

Report of possible child abuse — Officer received a report of a child that was being abused by a family member. Officer investigated the incident and reported that no abuse had occurred.

Report of a theft — Officer received a report of an individual stealing money from his place of employment. Investigation continues.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he recently bought some property in the McGill area, but the previous owner of the property still had personal items in a shed. The reporting party was advised to contact the owner and have the items removed.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that his camping supplies had been damaged by cows being moved through the area. The incident was documented.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.
