Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCT. 21

Report of a possible drunk driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer provided information to an individual who had concerns about his ex-wife’s drinking problem.

Report of a private property accident — Jim Lacy of Ely was operating a vehicle when it became stuck on a decorative rock. A local tow company was able to assist him in removing the vehicle off the rock.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and contacted the owner. He advised it had ran out of gas.

Report of a theft — Officer received a report of a juvenile who had stolen an item at a local school. The juvenile admitted to stealing the item which was collected and returned to the owner. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer located the vehicle which was parked, but occupied. Officer spoke to the occupant and warned her about driving when intoxicated. The individual called for a ride and left the area.

Report of an accident — Dennis Jensen of Meridian ID was operating a vehicle following a vehicle being operated by Sherna Quijano of Ely.  Quijano stopped for a traffic light and Jensen collided into the rear of her vehicle, causing damage. An accident report was completed and Jensen was issued a citation for following to close.

Report of an attempt to locate — Officer reported that a hunter had become separated from her party. The individuals were reunited.

Report of a fatal accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident located on US 93 near mile marker 60. Officer reported that Jason H. Nelson age 17 of McGill, NV died due to injuries sustained in the accident. The accident is being investigated by the Nevada Highway patrol.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the operator who was sleeping. No problems were reported.

Report of a theft / vandalism — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen and also damaged several lawn ornaments. The incident was documented.

OCT. 22

Report of fraud — The reporting party believed they had received a counterfeit bill.  The bill was examined and found to be genuine.

Report of an accident — Anthony Isa, of Colorado, was struck by a vehicle being driven by Earl Jones, of Ely, while Jones was using a mobile device.  Jones was issued a citation for cell phone use while driving.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — The vehicle, which had been left upon a public roadway, was red-tagged for removal.

Report of a missing person — The person was found and went home.

Report of drugs — The reporting party claimed to smell marijuana burning from a nearby residence.  The area was checked, but officers were unable to locate any odor of marijuana.

Report of a fight — The subjects involved were contacted and said they had been arguing, but didn’t know what they had been arguing about.  Alcohol may have been a factor.  Neither party was interested in pursuing charges from their grappling.  Both subjects went to their respective homes.

OCT. 23

Report of a domestic battery — Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that she had been battered during a argument with her husband. The husband had left the area. Investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jason B. Spear age 36 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a welfare check — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a private property accident — Daniel Spilsburg of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him being operated by Maurine Fisher of Ely. Spilsburg’s vehicle struck Fisher’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a found back pack  — The item was placed into lost and found.

Report of a possible drunk driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of a small child riding his bike in the roadway. Officer contacted the child who was riding his bike home from school. He was advised to stay out of the roadway.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a possible domestic disturbance that was taking place. When officers arrived one of the individuals involved was acting irrational and fled the area. She was detained and identified as Patricia H. Colville age 47 of Ely. Colville was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

New bookings — Jason B. Spear / Ely Municipal Court warrant, contempt of court / Bail $1,610.  Patricia H. Colville / Obstructing a police officer/ Bail $355.

OCT. 24

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that he needed medical assistance. He was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted several of the individuals who were involved. They indicated that it was a verbal argument. The parties involved had separated and were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual who was sleeping in the lobby of a local casino. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as William J. Conrad age 37 of Hulbert, OK. Conrad was arrested for disturbing the peace and obstructing a police officer.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that a juvenile was riding his bike on her property. The parent of the juvenile was contacted and advised to keep his child off the reporting parties’ property.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles playing doorbell ditch. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

OCT. 25

Report of a fight — Officer received a report of a female that had been battered at a local bar. Officer contacted the female who stated that she had been beaten up by several females. Investigation continues.

Report of a dead animal in the roadway — The animal was removed.

Report of a lost item — Reporting party stated that he had left his back pack which contained his firearm at a local restaurant. The restaurant is now closed so he can’t retrieve it.  The item was collected and will be returned to the owner.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Cameo R. Wilson age 31 of Ely was arrested on a Ely District Court warrant.

Report of a found pill — Reporting party stated that she had located a pill in her couch. Reporting party stated that she didn’t know where the item had come from. The pill was collected and disposed of.

Report of a domestic battery — Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Kirsten L. Hurlburt age 25 of Ely was arrested. She is accused of battering a family member.

Report of possible gun shots — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Emily R. Smith age 32 of McGill was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a citizen assist — Reporting party stated that she couldn’t get the doors closed on her fire place and it was smoking up her house. Officers assisted in getting the fire place doors closed.

New bookings — Cameo R. Wilson / Ely District Court warrant, contempt of court / Bail $10,000. Kirsten L. Hurlburt / Domestic battery / Bail $3,000. Emily R. Smith / Ely Municipal Court warrant, contempt of court / Bail $930.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was contacted and was fine.

Report of fraud — The reporting party alleged an unknown person used her debit card to make unauthorized purchases in another city.  A report was completed.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed to have discovered a suspicious item in a public place.  The item was later found to be innocuous.

OCT. 27

Report of an open door — Officer reported that he located an open door on a closed business. The business was checked and the door secured.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that she recently separated from her boyfriend and she is afraid he will find her and harm her. She was provided information on how to obtain a protective order.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an unlicensed driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of threatening phone calls — Reporting party stated that he had received a phone call from an individual who made several rude comments towards him. Reporting party was unable to identify the caller. The incident was documented.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her ex-husband drove by her and flipped her off. The incident was documented.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that she received a telephone call while she was at her place of employment. The caller identified himself as an individual working for a fraud department. The caller had the reporting party conducted several transactions using gift cards located in the store. The reporting party realized that she had been scammed out of several thousand dollars. Investigation continues.

Report of a strange odor — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.
