Bobcats split on the road; Ladycats dominate roadtrip

The White Pine High boys’ basketball team lost their opening game on the road last weekend to Mountain View 64-39. Senior Jonathan Gust scored 12.

But the next day they edged Lake Mead Academy to pick up a crucial road win, 51-48. Junior Sam Stewart scored 15 points and Gust added 14.

The Bobcats are 3-11 overall and travel to Las Vegas on Friday, Jan. 29, to play The Meadows at 7:30 p.m. The next day they play Calvary Chapel Christian at 2 p.m.

The White Pine High girls’ basketball team picked up two dominating road wins last weekend.

On Friday, Jan. 22, the Ladycats defeated Mountain View Christian 60-19. Senior Ashlyn Huntington scored 16 points and senior Debra Kingston 15. Senior Emily Bischoff added eight points.

The next day they beat Lake Mead Academy 63-18.

Huntington led the way with 27 points and eight rebounds. Bischoff added nine points and seven rebounds, while their defense allowed only one point in the fourth quarter.

At 8-2, the Ladycats are in a three-way tie for second place in the Division III Southern League. They are 16-5 overall.

They travel to Las Vegas on Friday, Jan. 29, to play The Meadows at 6 p.m. The next day they play Calvary Chapel Christian at 12:30 p.m.
