The Ely Renaissance Society has plans for a busy season. The Art Bank reopened on March 4 and will be open on Friday and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week.
A new art exhibit from the Nevada Arts Council will be set up in mid April. This exhibit is entitled “Panorama” and is the third in a series of exhibits showcasing the recipients of the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Award in the visual arts, Panorama: Selections from the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Program features exceptional artists and brings Nevada’s statewide artist landscape into view. Each contributing fellow has demonstrated mastery of process and medium in producing a significant body of work.
Participating artists include: Catherine Borg, formerly of Las Vegas, photography; Dean Burton of Reno, photography; Shan Michael Evans of Las Vegas, digital media and animation; Stephen Hendee, formerly of Las Vegas, textiles; Zoltan Janvary of Reno, printmaking and drawing; Robert Morrison of Reno, sculpture; Candace Nicol of Reno, printmaking; Nolan Preece of Reno, chemigram printing; Heather Protz of Las Vegas, photography; Tamara Scronce of Reno, mixed media and sculpture; Christine Siemens, formerly of Las Vegas, photography; and Mary Warner, formerly of Las Vegas, painting.
April 26 – 30 the Ely Art Bank will host an exhibit from the Nevada Indian Tourism Show of Indian Art .
The third annual White Pine Schools Student Art Show will be featured May 3 – 7. This show features work done by students in local art classes. An open house will be held.
A Side Walk Art Sale will be held at the Ely Art Bank on May 13 and 14. Local artists from the Ely Art Bank will be on hand to show their work.
The Renaissance Village will reopen on June 4 with new displays in each house and the stories of some of our noteworthy local women. A new book about early women who lived here and contributed to Ely’s history will be available.
July 4th weekend is always a grea time to visit the Village and this year the Class of ‘56 will gather there on July 2 and the Class of ‘71 will meet at the Village on July 3.
July 4th the Village will be open from noon to 4 p.m.
July 22 the Ely Art Bank will host an art show by Anthony Ithurralde. He is the artists who did the Greek murals on the Art Bank as well as the windows in the Plaza and Ely Hotels. He will have his latest work on display as well as a children’s book he has illustrated.
The Annual Art Wine Walk will be held on July 23 at the Village beginning at 5 p.m.
This is a great chance to meet our artists, purchase original art, and enjoy a great evening under the stars with a lovely dinner.
August 27, September 3 and 10th will be the annual Farmers Market at the Renaissance Village. Fresh produce is available along with jars of honey, salsa, jams, and a variety of nuts and other tasty treats. Our fresh peach ice cream is a favorite for all.
November 25 is the Christmas Walk and the tree lighting. It is also the third anniversary of the Ely Art Bank and a perfect place to stop in to begin holiday shopping.
