White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine Sheriff’s Office for Aug. 16-21. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

August 16

Report of a welfare check —  The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a welfare check —  Officer contacted the reporting party who was seeing people inside her apartment. The residence was checked and no one was located.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that an individual was operating a vehicle towing a trailer. As the individual pulled the trailer through a gate, the trailer struck the fence. The operator of the vehicle notified the property manager.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that someone had entered onto his property without permission and forced open the door on a locked building. The incident was documented.

Report of a hit and run accident  —  Officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck another vehicle and the driver had left the scene. Officer was able to locate the striking vehicle that was being operated by Holly Russell of Ely. Russell was issued a citation for hit and run causing property damage.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of a juvenile who was refusing to go home with her mother. The juvenile was contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of found drug paraphernalia —  Reporting party stated that the renters of a home had moved out and left several items of drug paraphernalia in the home. The items were collected and will be destroyed.

Report of a sexual assault — Reporting party stated that she had been sexually assaulted. Investigation continues.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that his ex-wife was refusing to provide his children to him during child custody exchange. Officer attempted to contact the ex-wife, but was unsuccessful.

AUGUST 17

Report of a domestic disturbance  — Officer contacted the individual involved who had woken up and believed there were people fighting in his home. The home was checked and no problems were located.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that he had received several messages on Facebook that were threatening. Investigation continues.

Report of an arrest —  Officer reported that Aymee S. Felix-Quispe, 19, of Ely, was arrested for tail lamps required, minor in consumption of alcohol and DUI.

Report of a fire — The report was given to the County Fire Department.

Report of a vehicle blocking a roadway —  The owner of the vehicle was contacted and removed it from the area.

Report of a hit and run accident — Reporting party stated that someone had struck her vehicle with another vehicle and the striking vehicle had left the scene. A report was completed.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a dog bite — Reporting party stated that while she was out for a walk, she was bitten by a stray dog. The area was patrolled, but the dog was not located.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had fallen in his home and was unable to get up. Assistance was provided.

Report of a problem with a subject —  Officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local casino. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.

Report of an accident — Angela Fuller, of Ely, was operating a vehicle traveling on Lackawanna Road when she struck a deer causing damage to her vehicle. A report was completed.

AUGUST 18

Report of a delayed non-injury accident — Carlos Nosie reported striking a deer on the highway while traveling through the area.  A report was completed.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed to have seen someone peeking in the window of her workplace.  The area was checked, but no one was located.

Report of a suspicious subject — A man was reportedly yelling at another subject.  It was discovered to have been a man arguing with his son. Both were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a trespasser — The manager of a local store advised a subject who had been previously trespassed from the property, had returned. The subject was gone when officers arrived and they were unable to locate her.

Report of a missing child —  The child was located sleeping inside of her residence.

Report of an arrest —  Christina Lynn Coombs, 41, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. During a search of her property, incident to arrest, paraphernalia and a white substance that tested presumptively positive for a controlled substance were located.

Report of an animal problem — A herd of cattle was blocking the highway.  Deputies moved them off of the roadway.

Report of an arrest — Cameron Mathew Varney, 23, of Ely, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Report of fireworks — Deputies were unable to locate the offenders.

AUGUST 19

Report of a found item — Reporting party stated that he had located a hypodermic needle near a local business. The item was collected and disposed of.

Report of a prowler — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that someone keeps coming into her home and changes things inside her residence. The incident was documented.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that she had left her purse in her car when she went into a local business. When she returned the purse was missing.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who needed medical attention. The individual was taken to E.R.

Report of a problem with a subject  — Reporting party stated that a vehicle was putting out excessive smoke. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that an individual keeps driving by her home. The incident was documented.

Report of an identification check —  Reporting party stated that someone had used his identification to open up a credit card account. A report was completed.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that James A. Robison, 32, of Ely, was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant and on an Ely District Court warrant.

Report of a lost wallet— Reporting party stated that she had lost her wallet. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that her renter moved out of the home she was renting to him. The reporting party stated that when he moved out he took several items belonging to the reporting party. Investigation continues.

Report of a traffic hazard — Officer located a highway sign laying in the roadway. The item was removed and N.D.O.T. was advised.

Report of a speeding vehicle — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and he was advised of the complaint. He denied the allegation.

Report of child abuse — Reporting party stated that when her child returned from visiting his father, he had excessive bruising on his buttocks from being spanked. Investigation continues.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a deer. The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

AUGUST 20

Report of an arrest  — Officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle, the operator of the vehicle was identified as Bobbie G. Simmons, 36, of West Valley, Utah. She was arrested for failure to yield right of way, DUI, under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Kenneth W. Bryant, 54, of Ely, was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant for domestic battery and injury to property.  Another passenger in the vehicle identified as Tabitha A. Luna, 42, of Ely, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and under the influence of a controlled substance.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Frankie B. Marquardson, 85, of Ely, died at her residence of natural causes.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and warned her about her driving behavior.

Report of an injured deer — The area was patrolled, but the deer was not located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an accident — Dallan Bateman of Ibapah, Utah was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a parked vehicle behind him registered to Harry Baynes of Ely. Bateman’s vehicle struck Baynes vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of a dog at large — Officer received a report of two dogs running at large and one of them had been struck by a vehicle. Officer reported that the dogs had been picked up by a passing motorist. The injured dog was taken to a local veterinarian and the other dog was placed into the dog pound.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had gotten her wheelchair stuck in the gravel.

Report of threats — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over child custody. They were advised to follow the child custody order issued by a local judge.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that an individual had struck a vehicle with a baseball bat. The individual had fled the area. Investigation continues.

Report of a prowler — Officer contacted the individual who was staying at a friend’s home. No problems were located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his apartment and stole his computer. Investigation continues.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had broken a window on his vehicle. The incident was documented.

Report of a four-wheeler disturbance  — Officer received a report of several individuals riding four wheelers on city streets. The area was patrolled, but the four wheelers were not located.

Report of a possible drunk driver —  The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of threats — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over child custody rights. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a fight — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

AUGUST 21

Report of a lost purse — Reporting party stated that she had lost her purse while giving a friend a ride home. The incident was documented.

Report of a citizen assist — Reporting party stated that she had been kicked out of her home and needed a place to stay. She was assisted with transportation to a friend’s home.

Report of a juvenile problem —  Officer contacted the individual who had been locked out of her motel room. A family member inside the room was woken up and allowed the juvenile to return to her room.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen some money from her. The parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that the father of her child took their child in common and now won’t let her have the child back. Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no child custody order is in place. The incident was determined to be a civil problem.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that several items had been stolen out of his vehicle. Investigation continues.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and declined any assistance.

Report of a hit and run accident — Reporting party stated that while his vehicle was parked at a local parking lot, another vehicle struck it causing damage. The striking vehicle fled the scene. A report was completed.

Report of property damage — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had sustained damage. Officer observed the vehicle and reported that someone had broken several windows on the vehicle by throwing a brick through them. Officer reported that it is unknown who the vehicle belongs to. Investigation continues.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who stated that they had gotten into a fight, but the situation was now resolved. The parties involved separated for the night.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

  1. How about just reporting major arrests and not making people’s mental health problems so public. Curious as to whether or not the proper agency referrals are being made on some of these reports?
