OCTOBER 10

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: Reporting party stated that he was doing an inventory of the vehicles that are owned by the company that he works for and noticed that one of the vehicles in their fleet is missing. It is unknown when the vehicle was stolen. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A BATTERY: Officer received a report of an individual who had been battered. Officer contacted the individual who declined on providing any information on what had taken place. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were traveling through the Ely area. The parties involved had been involved in a verbal argument. They decide to separate for the day and left the area.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted D.C.F.S. on interviewing a possible child abuse situation. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF SPEEDING VEHICLES: Reporting party stated that vehicles continually speed by his residence. The area will be patrolled.

REPORT OF LOST AND FOUND: City — reporting party stated that she had located a phone that had been left in a shopping cart. The owner of the phone was contacted and it was returned.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City — reporting party stated that she has received several messages from an individual that have been threatening. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A HORSE AT LARGE: Officer contacted several individuals who live in the area and none of them had a missing horse. Officer patrolled the area, but could not locate the horse.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City— officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Mark Lewis age 61 of Ely was arrested for basic speed, failure to maintain lane of travel, method of turn and D.U.I.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that something had struck the mirror on his vehicle causing damage. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DISABLED VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was gone upon arrival.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from an individual. The parties involved were contacted and advised to stop contacting each other.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance. The individual was contacted who was having problems with the voices in her head. The indidvual was advised to keep the peace. The individual requested no assistance.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over the purchase of a trailer. They were advised to keep the peace and also advised the matter was a civil problem.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — the area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer reported that she is receiving unwanted text messages from an old boyfriend. Officer attempted to contact the sender of the messages, but was unsuccessful. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Officer located a vehicle that had struck an object causing damage to the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was not located. The accident was investigated by the Nevada Highway patrol.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was refusing to go to school. Officer contacted the juvenile and advised him to go to school. The juvenile then went to school.

REPORT OF COWS ON THE ROADWAY: The owner of the cows was contacted and advised of the problem.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTS: Officer received a report of several individuals trying to enter into a vacant home. Officer contacted the individuals who were moving into the home. During the officers investigation one of the individuals was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. She was identified as Alyssa M. Hopkins age 19 of Mariposa, CA. She was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A juvenile who was also present was detained and later released to D.C.F.S.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who caused a disturbance at a local business. When officers arrived the individual had left the area. He was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer attempted to contact the individual, but she was not at home.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that an individual was caught removing property from a building that belongs to her family. When confronted the individual left the area. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A FIRE: Officer reported that the fire was contained in a fire pit. No problems were located.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: Reporting party stated that a door had been left open on a county building. The building was checked and the door secured.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Teddy C. Sedgwick age 37 of McGill was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Rita M. Wooldridge age 37 of Ely was arrested of an Ely District Court warrant.

REPORT OF A LOST PERSON: Officer received a report of a person who had gone out pine nut picking and had become lost. Search and Rescue was activated. The individual was located by family members during the search.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: Officer received a report of a vehicle accident where the striking vehicle had fled the scene. Officer located the striking vehicle and identified the operator as Wayne M. Cameron age 70 of Ruth. Cameron was arrested for driving left of center, hit and run property damage, and DUI.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer checked on the individual and reported that he was fine.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Rebecca Somervold of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Bobcat Drive. Alexandra Piscovich of Ely was operating a vehicle entering onto Bobcat Drive. Piscovich failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided her vehicle into Somervold’s. Piscovich was issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign and an accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and reported it had been abandoned. The vehicle was towed from the area.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — officer received a report of several juveniles who had been truant from school. Officer reported that the juveniles will be issued citations for truancy and a report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Reporting party stated that an individual had backed into her vehicle causing damage The incident had occurred earlier in the day. Both parties did not contact law enforcement when the accident happened. . The accident was not investigated. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A FRAUDReporting party stated that an individual is obtaining life insurance money when they shouldn’t be The reporting party stated that the money should be going to another beneficiary. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSISTOfficer received information that a detaining warrant had been issued to take possession of a child who was with her mother who didn’t have legal custody. The child was provided to law enforcement by the mother and the child was released to D.C.F.S.

REPORT OF A FIRECity — officer received a report of a home that had caught on fire. When officers arrived the fire had been put out by the home owner.

REPORT OF AN ARRESTCity — officer reported that during a traffic stop Gena A. Mills age 29 of Nampa, ID was arrested on an Elko County warrant.

REPORT OF AN ANIMAL IN THE ROADWAYOfficer reported that a dead dog that had been struck by a vehicle was removed from the roadway.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTReporting party stated that the renters of her home are moving out and when she told the renters she needed to show the home to a future renter the current renters made threat towards her. The parties involved were contacted and advised of the laws reference renters and tenants. The situation was resolved.

REPORT OF BARKING DOGSOfficer contacted the owner of the dogs and advised him of the problem.

REPORT OF A BURGLARYCity — reporting party stated that when a family member returned home they located a person inside their home trying to remove some property. The individual fled the area. Officers have identified the person and are attempting to locate him.

REPORT OF A DEATHCity — officer reported that an individual had died at a local motel. The individual was transported to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine his cause of death. The next of kin for the deceased has not been located. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance at a local business. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the business.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGEOfficer received a report of a utility trailer that had collided into a parked vehicle. Officer reported that the wind had blown the trailer into the vehicle causing slight damage. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF ILLEGAL DUMPINGOfficer received a report of an indidvual who had left a large amount of trash at a local lake. The indidvual was contacted and identified as Sara Reyes, age 55 of Reno, NV. Reyes was arrested for illegal dumping.
