Hays honored by RPEN

In a unanimous Resolution, Virginia “Kitty” Hays has been honored by the White Pine Chapter, Retired Public Employees of Nevada, for her many years of service to both Chapter and State organizations, as well as her efforts in promoting the welfare of seniors in the local community.

A talented artist, Hays was employed as a teacher by the White Pine County School District, helping students discover their abilities in every colorful medium.

Following her retirement, Hays became an active participant in RPEN’s presence here. She helped establish policies and practices for the fledgling organization, holding every Chapter office at least once in her tenure, often serving on State committees.

She is a recipient of the Pat Fladager Award, the Retired Public Employees’ highest recognition.

Established in 1977, RPEN is an association that works with PERS (the Public Employees’ Retirement System), PEBP, the Nevada State Legislature, and others to bring a strong collective voice in addressing senior issues.

Local PERS retirees may contact Chapter Chair Holly Wilson (289-3709) or Co-Chair David Bourbeau (235-0234) for membership information.
