MAY 29  

REPORT OF AN UNATTENDED CHILD: Officer received a report of an unattended child walking near a highway. The child was located and the parent of the child was contacted. The parent advised there was miss communication between them and another person on who was watching the child and the child had wandered off. . The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the care giver and the children and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located. Officer did locate an underage juvenile operating an OHV on a roadway. He was issued a citation.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had come to her home looking for a person she thought lived there. The reporting party stated that the person was acting strange. Officer patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: Reporting party stated that an individual had entered into his room without permission and stole some money. Officer contacted the person and identified him as Nicholas J Glettig age 31 of Ely. Glettig was arrested for burglary and petit larceny.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle who stated that she was tired and needed rest. She was advised where she could locate an area to rest.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer contacted the reporting party who wanted a person removed from his rental, He was advised he needed to evict the person.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted DCFS with the removal of several children from a home. No problems were located.

MAY 30 

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle who was blocking a private driveway. He was advised to move his vehicle. He complied.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an indidvual was getting in the trash can at her place of work looking for food. She advised the individual to leave the area and he proceeded to cuss at her. The area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF AN ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLE: The vehicle was tagged for removal.

REPORT OF A LOST WALLET: City — reporting party stated that she had lost her wallet at a local store. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that an individual was removing items from a shed. The individual was contacted who advised he owned the items. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Clinton Buckner age 34 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation.

REPORT OF STOLEN PROPERTY: Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen his phone and sold it to another person. The person with the phone was contacted who released the phone back to the reporting party. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE BURGLARY: City — reporting party stated that an indidvual had entered into her home and had disturbed several items. Officer reported that no items had been taken. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the parent and child and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE THEFT: Officer received a report of a person who had some camping equipment stolen. Officer patrolled the area, but the person making the report was not located.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: Officer located the dog that had ran back to its residence. Officer reported that the latch on the gate had been damaged allowing the dog to exit the yard. The owner advised she would fix the latch.

REPORT OF FOUND KEYS: City — reporting party stated that she found a set of keys left at a local business. The keys were returned to the owner.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the parent and the children and reported that they were fine. No problems were located.

REPORT OF AN AMBULANCE ASSIST: Officer assisted the ambulance staff with a female who was having a medical problem.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer located the person who was intoxicated and needed assistance getting to his home. Officer walked with the person to his residence.

MAY 31  

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer received a report of an individual who had entered into a residence, damaged some property inside the residence and had also committed a battery. During the officers investigation Terrich Kearns age 23 of Ely was arrested for stalking, injury to property and domestic battery.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that had had done some work on a vehicle and now the customer was refusing to pay for the work performed. The parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: Officer assisted DCFS on a home visit. No problems were reported.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT / PRIVATE PROPERTY: City — Samantha Stoker of Walnut Creek, CA was operating a vehicle and was backing up. She failed to see a vehicle behind her being operated by Deloros Lani of Ely. Stoker’s vehicle struck Lani’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: Officer located the individual who was selling security systems door to door in the area. No problem were reported.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted medical staff at the hospital with an individual who had been involved in an ATV accident.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that two dogs were in her yard and were refusing to leave. Officer captured the dogs and they were taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Reporting party stated that he observed a tent and miscellaneous items near a communications tower. Officers will investigate the incident at a later time.

 REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had his debit card and will not return it. The individual was contacted and the card was returned.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the individual was contacted and he stated that he was fine. He requested no assistance.

JUNE 1

REPORT OF AN ARREST: A deputy made contact with the driver of a vehicle, identified as 22 year old Ely resident Austin Andrus.  Based on the officer’s observations, Andrus was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Andrus failed to follow lawful orders, and was also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing and delaying a peace officer.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The vehicle was checked and was okay.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and was okay.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party reported suspicious circumstances surrounding a family member and their sudden illness.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – a dead bird was found on the doorstep of a local business.  The bird was disposed of.

REPORT OF DEBRIS: An alley was reportedly blocked by debris.  The owner was contacted and agreed to remove it.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – Penny Deklyn, of Ely, reported striking a parked vehicle that was partially in the roadway.  The owner of the other vehicle left prior to law enforcement arrival.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF THREATS: The reporting party claimed an unknown male called her and started making threats to her about how angry he was and knew where she lived.  The male then hung up.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed to be getting threatening phone calls from the IRS.  She was advised it was a scam and to block the number.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE INTOXICATED DRIVER: The subject was located, but was not driving.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed to have broken off a relationship, and her ex wouldn’t let her get her property.  Both parties agreed to be civil and exchange property at a later date.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – it was accidentally set off by the owner.

REPORT OF THEFT: The reporting party claimed his narcotic medications were stolen out of his car when it was impounded in another county.  The reporting party will be advised he needs to report it to the appropriate agency.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an intoxicated person who had passed out at a local restaurant. The person was contacted and advised to leave. He complied.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF THREATS: Reporting party stated that he had confronted an individual who was at his neighbor’s home asking him if he had permission to be there. He stated that the person had become confrontational and made a threat that he had a gun. Officers patrolled the area, but the person was not located. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that while his vehicle was parked at a local apartment complex someone had cut the tires on his vehicle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had stolen his bicycle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he had rented a trailer to an individual and now the individual was allowing other people to stay there. Officer reported that the individual was served an eviction notice.

REPORT OF A SCAM: Reporting party stated that she had received a phone call advising her that she had won a large prize. The caller advised the reporting party in order to claim the prize she would need to send a certain amount of money to the caller. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the caller.

REPORT OF A FIGHT: City — officer received a report of a fight that had taken place at a local residence. Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statements on what had taken place. The incident will be submitted to the City Attorney for review.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that she received notice that her power bill was overdue and that she had used another name to obtain power. Officer investigated the incident contacting the parties involved and the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — officer reported the dog was captured and returned to the owner who had reported earlier that the dog had gotten out of his yard.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Reporting party stated that several people on motorcycles were riding on his range property disturbing his sheep. When officers arrived to the area no motorcycles were located. The reporting party was advised to call the Sheriff’s Office if they returned.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that his neighbor was watering his lawn and it was hitting his car. The reporting party wanted the incident documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who had been arguing over child visitations. The parties involved had separated and no other problems were reported.

REPORT OF A LOST PHONE: City — reporting party stated that she had left her phone at a local store and when she returned to get it, it was gone. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A STOLEN PHONE: City — reporting party stated that she had been at a neighbor’s home for dinner. When she left she left her phone on the kitchen table. She stated that one of the people she had dinner with had stolen the phone. The occupants of the home were questioned, but denied taking the phone. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: Officer contacted the reporting party who was requesting that a person be removed from a home she did not own. The reporting party was advised to seek clarification on who owns the home and to seek an eviction notice.

REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED JUVENILE: City— officer received a report of an intoxicated juvenile who was at a local business. The business was checked and the juvenile was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the person was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF HORSES AT LARGE: City — officer contacted the owner of the horses and they were placed back into their stall.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City — officer received a report of a noise disturbance at a local home. Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City — officers were called back to the same home for several people arguing and causing a disturbance. The parties were contacted and advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City —officer located the dogs and reported that they had returned to an enclosed yard.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer patrolled the area, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A CHILD CUSTODY PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that his ex-wife had taken their children and moved out of state. He was advised it was a civil issue and to contact his attorney to resolve the issue.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — officer received a report of an employee who was embezzling from a local business. Officer contacted the employee who admitted to stealing money. The suspect in the incident was identified as a local juvenile. A report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF AN AMBULANCE ASSIST: City— officer received a report of a female who was chocking. Officer reported that the female was transported to the E.R. by ambulance.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — reporting party stated that she had gotten into a verbal argument with an individual whom she was getting a ride home with. She stated that she exited the car and hide from the person. Officer attempted to locate the person, but was unsuccessful. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: City — the area was patrolled and no problems were reported.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Gilbert R. Valerio age 38 of Tooele, UT was arrested for stopping in roadway, DUI #1, open container of alcohol, and no valid drivers license.
