White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Oct. 9-Oct. 15 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCTOBER 9 

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Edward Bell of McGill was operating a vehicle traveling on Bustos Drive. Lily Fullmer a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle turning onto Bustos Drive. Fullmer failed to see Bell and collided into the vehicle he was operating. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A FIRE: City — officer assisted the Ely Fire Department with a fire that had occurred in a local residence.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had entered into her vehicle and stole several items. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that someone had stolen a sign that had been stored under their trailer. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had stolen a U-Haul trailer. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and reported that the operator arrived and removed it from the area.

REPORT OF A THEFT OF UTILITIES: City — reporting party stated that someone had altered a power meter so they could obtain power to a residence. Officer is investigation the incident to locate the person responsible for the theft of power.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person who was trying to locate an address. He was assisted in locating the residence.

REPORT OF A THEFT OF POWER: City — reporting party stated that someone had connected a power cord to his home to obtain power to a trailer. The cord was removed and officers are attempting to locate the person responsible for the theft of power.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The person was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had entered into her shed and removed several items. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A FIRE: City — officer assisted the Ely Fire Department with a fire that had occurred at a local apartment complex.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City— officer received a report of a student that was truant form a local school. The student will be issued a citation for truancy when located.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City — reporting party stated that for the last few nights someone has been knocking on her door in the early morning hours. Officers will patrol the area.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

OCTOBER 10 

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A HIT AN RUN ACCIDENT: The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City — reporting party stated that he was asked to check on a residence for a family member. When he arrived at the home he located several subjects who were living and trespassing at the residence. Officer contacted the individuals and during his investigation located a controlled substance. The individuals were identified as Paul L. Harker age 51 of Ely and Angelique Ainsworth age 43 of Ely. Harker was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and ex-felon failure to register. Ainsworth was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: False alarm.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who stated that they were involved in an argument, but couldn’t remember why they were arguing. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A PARKING VIOLATION: Officer received a report of a vehicle that was parked in an alleyway blocking traffic. When the officer arrived at the scene the vehicle was gone.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that she had hired a handyman to do some work around her property. She stated that after the person had left she noticed several items missing. Reporting party wanted the incident documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH DEER: Reporting party stated that several deer keep coming into his yard and destroying his plants. The reporting party wanted to shot the deer. He was advised he could not do so and to seek other remedies in keeping the deer off his property.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that she allowed a person to live in a trailer on her property. The reporting party now wants the person removed. The reporting party was advised on the eviction process to have the person removed.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that someone had entered into his vehicle and damaged several items. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over the proper procedures to discipline their children. The parties involved stated that they would stop arguing for the night.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A JUVENILE: Reporting party stated that their juvenile son was causing a disturbance at their home. Officer contacted the juvenile who was upset because his parents wouldn’t let him stay the night at a friend’s home. The juvenile was advised to follow his parent’s rules.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that several people had come to her home to fight her. The reporting party stated that an individual had forced her way into her home, battered her and caused some property damage. During the officers investigation the individual involved was identified as Shoshana M. Kennedy age 21 of Ely. She was arrested for burglary, battery, and injury to property.

OCTOBER 11 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that several people were banging on her front door to her residence. Officer patrolled the area, but no one was located.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A LOST AND FOUND ITEM: City — reporting party located a wallet that had been left at a local business. The wallet was placed into lost and found and the owner will be notified.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an indidvual had approached her wanting to know where he could by marijuana. Officer contacted the person who stated that he was asking about a marijuana dispensary. He was advised that Ely doesn’t have one.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the person was contacted and she was fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer reported that the individual was located and she was fine.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that an employee that works at her place of business had made a comment that concerned her about younger children. The incident was documented and the situation will be monitored.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: Reporting party stated that a vehicle that was parked next to his struck his vehicle with their door while getting into their vehicle. The reporting party stated that the striking vehicle left the scene. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A MISSING JUVENILE: Reporting party stated that her juvenile son was missing, due to he hadn’t come home from school.  Officer reported that the juvenile was located and no further problems were reported.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had pumped gas for his car and was unable to pay for it. The person was contacted and identified as Donald Settle age 70 of Hanover NM. During the officers investigation it was determined that Settle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Settle was arrested on a Lyon County Justice Court warrant.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: Officer contacted the individual and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer received a report of a domestic disturbance that had taken place. Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that Terrich Kearns age 23 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant for false imprisonment and interference with a communication device. Kearns was also arrested for two counts of domestic battery and false imprisonment. Kearns is accused of battering his girlfriend.

OCTOBER 12

REPORT OF A NON-INJURY ACCIDENT: City – Brittany Slight, of Ely, pulled out into the roadway and failed to see an oncoming vehicle driven by Zach Bellander, of Ely.  This caused both vehicles to strike each other.  Slight was issued a citation for failure to yield.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – the alarm was accidentally set off by the property owner.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – a juvenile reportedly was threatened by two other juveniles while at school.  A report was completed.

 REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – when officers arrived, the alleged suspect was gone.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City – the suspect was eventually located and warned about his driving.

REPORT OF AN ATTEMPTED SUICIDE: City – the subject was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A BATTERY: City – when officers contacted the victim, she refused to provide any information.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – 34 year old David Pope, of Ely, was trespassed from a local tavern, but was creating a disturbance while leaving.  Pope continued to create a disturbance when officers arrived and was arrested for disturbing the peace.

OCTOBER 13 

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the person causing the disturbance who stated that he had been working on his vehicle. He was advised to keep the peace and work on his vehicle during the day time.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that she heard someone shaking her door knob trying to get into her home. Officer checked the area, but no one was located.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that an individual had ordered an item from her business and they had received payment for the order. The reporting party stated they tried to deliver the item, but were unsuccessful. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City — reporting party stated that someone has stolen his vehicle. Officer reported that the vehicle was located several blocks away from reporting parties home. Officer reported that a tool box had been stolen from the vehicle.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her roommate had thrown a blanket at her. Both parties involved were contacted and advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Reporting party stated that several individuals were removing a sign from a closed business. Officer contacted the individuals involved and reported that one of them was the owner of the business. Officer reported that another individual who was involved was identified as Anthony Fabela age 33 of Salt Lake City, UT. He was arrested on a West Wendover, NV warrant.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that he was out of the Ely area for a while and when he returned someone had damaged his garage door on his garage. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he was confronted by a person who made a threat towards him. The reporting party wanted the incident documented.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City — reporting party stated that someone had stolen her vehicle while it was parked in front of her home. Officer reported that the vehicle was later located in the Ely area.

REPORT OF LOST ITEMS: City — reporting party stated that she had lost several items belonging to her. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that her children had been bullied while playing at a local park. Officer contacted the children involved and reported that they were wrestling with one another. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Reporting party stated that he believes someone had put some type of substance in the gas tank of his vehicle. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and reported that it was parked on private property. The owner of the property was advised he could have the vehicle removed.

OCTOBER 14 

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and contacted the owner. He was advised to remove it off the roadway, due to it was not currently registered.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that he was fine.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had entered into her vehicle and stole her car keys and her wallet. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that his adult son, who lives with him is always yelling at him. The reporting party was provided with several ideas that could alleviate the problem, but he only wanted the incident documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person who was receiving medical assistance at the local hospital.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle Michael D. Oliver Jr, age 30 of Preston, NV was arrested for stop lamps required, driving suspended, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance.

OCTOBER 15  

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: City — officer patrolled the area, but no disturbance was located.

REPORT OF A LOST AND FOUND BICYCLE: City — officer reported that the bike was collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — officer reported that the dog was captured and taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of several juveniles playing in the roadway. The juveniles were contacted and advised to stay out of the roadway when cars are passing by.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the children and their parent and advised that they were fine.
