Desert Rose is officially open. Owners Sandy and Kelly Kelsey are excited to bring a place that locals can find their crafting supplies in addition to providing a great space for classes on a variety of crafts.

The store carries a wide variety of ribbon, wreath making materials, latch hook kits, crochet thread, glue guns, raffia, buttons, crafting tape, fiber fill and many other type of supplies. Fabric is another item that they provide a great selection of, and it was mentioned that yarn would be coming in this week.

One of their most popular sections of the store is the ceramic section. With over 100 different ceramics on the shelves leaves many with the hard decision of which ceramic to begin with. Classes for painting the ceramics are available. The fee for classes start at $45 dollars depending on the type of ceramic you want to paint. You purchase the paints, and they provide the space and help if you need it. You can schedule a ceramic class or party if you would like. The Kelsey’s said that they recently had a girl scout troop come in paint a halloween ceramic, and this weekend they have a birthday party for a five year old boy scheduled to paint their favorite ceramic superhero.

On this particular day that I stopped in a class of four women were being instructed by Emily Hicks on a Rug Twining class. The cost was fifty dollars to participate in, that included the cost of all the materials except for the fabric. A monthly class of various craft projects are being put together. It was mentioned that a stained glass and wreath class were on the list of classes to host as well. Sandy Kelsey said “we’re trying to get in a little bit of everything, for every crafter, we have sewing supplies, when people request something we try to to help them find it.” Sandy also mentioned that if someone wants to come in and teach a craft class, they have the space and place to do it. Hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday 10a.m.-6:00p.m., closed on Sundays, but on Tuesdays and Thursdays they are available to have the store open until 9:00p.m.
