White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Oct. 23-Oct. 30 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCTOBER 23 

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she could see several people crawling around in her back yard. Officer checked the area, but no one was located.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle, the operator of the vehicle was identified as Daren L. Gregersen age 50 of Ely. Gregersen was arrested for driving suspended.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Nicholas Clark of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on 15th St. He then proceeded to operate his vehicle onto Aultman Street. Andrea Orrillo of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Ave F extension. She then proceeded to operator her vehicle onto Aultman Street. Clark stated that he failed to see Orrillo’s vehicle causing an accident. Clark was issued a citation for required method of turn. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer checked on the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF A THEFT AND PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that someone had broken the window on her vehicle and had stolen her wallet which was inside the car. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — officer received a report of a student that was truant from school. When the student is located he will be issued a citation for truancy.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted DCFS on a home visit. Officer reported that during the visit no problems were located.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was loitering in a public place of business. Officer contacted the juvenile and escorted him home and released him to his father.

REPORT OF AN INJURED DEER: City — officer located the deer and reported that its injuries were not life threatening. No action was taken.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer patrolled the area, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE PROWLER: City — the area was patrolled, but no one was located.

.OCTOBER 24 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer made contact with several subjects that were intoxicated. The individuals had been involved in a fight and one of them had received facial injuries. None of the parties involved were cooperative and refused to provide information on what had taken place. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A FOUND FIREARM: City — reporting party stated that someone had left a firearm in a restroom at a local gas station. The firearm was collected and several hours later the owner returned to claim the gun.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer received a report of an individual who had threatened to take his own life. Officers searched the area and located the person deceased. The individual was identified as Andrew S. Brown age 55 of Ely. Brown was transported to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine his cause of death.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a gas pump. The striking vehicle had left the area.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer received a report of a person who had not been seen by friends or neighbors for over a month. Officer checked the persons home and located him deceased inside the residence. The person was identified as Kevin Baker age 53 of McGill. Officer reported that during his investigation it was determined that he had died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of a local business who wanted a person trespassed from the property. When officers arrived the person had left the area.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that someone had scratched her vehicle causing damage to the paint.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City— Earl Jones of Ely was operating a vehicle exiting a private driveway entering onto Great Basin Blvd. Michelle Hallett of Ruth was operating a vehicle traveling on Great Basin Blvd. Jones failed to yield to Hallett causing an accident. An accident report was completed and Jones was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Officer received a report of an ATV accident that had occurred near the Utah and Nevada border. The individuals involved in the accident had been transported to a hospital in the Utah area by a private party. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A CHILD CUSTODY PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that the father of her child didn’t show up for child custody exchange. The father of the child was contacted who arrived late to make the exchange. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City — reporting party stated that someone had forced their way into his home by breaking in the front door. The reporting party stated that nothing had been stolen, only damage to the door. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City — officer located an open door on a vehicle with no one around. Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and reported no problems were located.

OCTOBER 25 

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City — reporting party stated that he received a telephone call early in the morning and the caller sounded like he was talking to another person, but the reporting party couldn’t hear him. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was truant from school. Officer completed the report and when the juvenile is located he will be issued a citation for truancy.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE THEFT: Reporting party stated that he parked his vehicle at a friend’s home and he heard that the friend is selling all of his items he had left in the car. The reporting party was advised to check his vehicle for his items and then confirm that the items have been sold.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Jonathon R. Mathews age 26 of McGill was arrested for domestic battery. He is accused of battering a person whom he resides with.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City — Tinker Lamphere of Carlin, NV was operating a vehicle and was backing up. She failed to see a vehicle behind her being operated by Joaquin Mendez of Ely. Lamphere’s vehicle struck Mendez’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE GAS THEFT: City — officer received a report of several people possibly stealing gas from a local gas station. Officer contacted the individuals and reported that no theft had occurred.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Jacqueline Carson age 24 of Ruth was arrested on a probation violation.

OCTOBER 26 

REPORT OF POSSIBLE DRUG USE: Officer received a report of possible drug use around a child. Officer contacted the parent of the child who stated that she only uses marijuana away from her child. She stated that another family member watches her child while she get high.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer received a report of an individual who was pouring an unknown substance on a roadway. Officer contacted the person who was pouring cooking oil on the road to keep the dust down. He was advised to stop.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of several people causing a disturbance at a local casino. When officers arrived the individuals had left the area.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that a bed had been delivered to her home. She stated that two men came to her home and stole the bed. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle and reported no problems were located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that a friend came to her home and when he left she couldn’t find her wallet. The friend denied stealing the wallet. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that she believes her neighbor’s dog was killing her cats. A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN INJURED DOG: The report was given to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

 REPORT OF A FIGHT: City — officer contacted the parties involved who stated that it had been a mutual battery. The parties involved requested no law enforcement action be taken. The parties involved were advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that his car alarm went off. The area was patrolled, but no problems were located.

OCTOBER 27 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted two individuals who were involved in a verbal argument. The parties involved were contacted and advised to keep the peace and to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance in a local neighborhood. Officer located the person and identified him as Robert Armijo age 39 of Ely. Armijo was arrested for disturbing the peace.

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: City — officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised him of the problem.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City — officer received a report of an individual who had returned to a local apartment complex that he had previously been trespassed from. Officer located the person and he was issued a citation for trespassing.

REPORT OF A DECEASED DOG: Officer reported that the dog had been struck by a car. The dog was removed from the roadway.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City — Catherine Odgers a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling in a private property parking lot. Due to drivers inattention she struck a fence causing damage to the fence. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: Reporting party stated while operating his vehicle on a local highway he struck an item that was laying in the road causing damage to his car. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he was moving his person belonging out of an apartment and his past roommate was causing problems with him. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that several juveniles had thrown rocks at his building causing damage to several windows. Officer is attempting to locate the juveniles involved.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: Officer received a report of several juveniles who were playing by the train tracks. The area was patrolled, but they were not located.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: City — officer reported that the person was taken to the E.R. for medical assistance.

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: City — the area was patrolled, but no disturbance was located

OCTOBER 28 

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that she meet a person on line and they started texting each other. The reporting party stated that the text messages turned weird and she believes the person might be a pedophile. The incident was documented and the information was forwarded to the proper jurisdiction where the person lives.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that she was walking her dog at a local park when it was attacked by another dog. The reporting party stated that her husband then confronted the owner of the other dog and threats were made. Officer contacted the parties involved and advised them to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is buying a home from an individual and that individual went to her home and posted no trespassing signs on the gate. Officer contacted the individual who stated that the reporting party is in default on the home and he is foreclosing on the home. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that she was purchasing a car from an individual, but the person sold it to another person. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that her credit card had been stolen and that someone was using it in the Ely area. Officer has identified the person using the card and the investigation continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Reporting party stated that his ex-wife and gone to his home and might be removing items. The reporting party wanted the incident documented in case she took items that belonged to him. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that several cars were blocking an alleyway. The owner of the cars were contacted and advised to remove them.

REPORT OF GARBAGE IN THE ROADWAY: The items were removed.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — officer patrolled the area, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from an unknown caller. She was advised to block the number. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS LIGHT: City — reporting party stated that a light was on inside a closed business. The business was checked and no problems were located.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and spoke to the operator. No problems were reported.

OCTOBER 30

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was out of control and being unruly towards his mother. The juvenile was contacted and advised to follow his mother rules. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the dog was captured and taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that she receives her medication through the mail and it hasn’t showed up. The reporting party believes that her medication was stolen. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE: City — officer received a report to deliver a message to a mother about her student at school. The mother was contacted and advised to contact the school.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Heather Varney age 19 of Ely was arrested on an Ely District Court warrant.

REPORT OF TRESPASSER: Officer received a report of several motorcycle riders trespassing on private property. The area was patrolled, but the individuals were not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Gordon Eldridge of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him which was parked and unoccupied. That vehicle belonged to Daniel Hamilton of Ely. Eldridge’s vehicle struck Hamilton’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Eldridge was issued a citation for unsafe backing.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator of the vehicle was identified as Heidi M. Breitrick age 38 of Ely. Breitrick was arrested for driving suspended.
