White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Oct. 31-Nov. 3. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCTOBER 31 

REPORT OF SPEEDING VEHICLES: Officer received a report of several vehicles speeding in a local area. Officers will patrol the area.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — Officer received a report of a student that was truant from school. Officer reported that the student will be issued a citation for truancy when he is located.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that they had rented a room in their home to an individual. The reporting party stated that after the person moved out they noticed several items in their home were missing. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had stolen her cell phone while she was attending school. During the investigation the reporting party located her phone. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle along with his parent and advised them of the problem. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that she is having problems with another juvenile who is threatening to beat her up. Officer is attempting to locate the other juvenile involved. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD NEGLECT: City — officer received a report of a father who was refusing to allow his children to go to school. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — officer reported that the dog was captured and placed back into the owner’s yard. The owner will be notified when he returns home.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that a friend parked his vehicle in front of his home while he was receiving medical care at the hospital. The reporting party stated that someone threw a rock through the window of the vehicle. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Reporting party stated that the father of her children took them trick or treating for Halloween. The reporting party stated that he was intoxicated and was causing a disturbance at the homes they were visiting. The children then refused to go with their father. Officer reported that the father left the area and was not located. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the juvenile and his parent and the juvenile denied that he was going to harm himself. The incident was documented.

NOVEMBER 1 

REPORT OF AN ALARM: False alarm.

REPORT OF AN INJURED ELK: Officer located the elk and reported that it appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and had sustained severe injuries. Due to its injuries the elk was put down.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer received a report of a domestic dispute that had occurred the night before. Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statement on what had taken place. The report will be submitted to the City Attorney for prosecution.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Mandy M. Davis age 36 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that her daughter had been injured while attending school. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF THREATS: City — officer received a report of an individual who was making threats toward a family that was caring for his daughter. Officer contacted the individual involved who denied that the threats were made.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the parents and the children and reported that they were fine. No problems were located.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that her vehicle was parked at a local parking lot unattended, when it was struck by another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A DOG IN THE ROADWAY: City — officer located the dog which was deceased. The dog was removed from the area.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual loitering around an apartment complex. The area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway possibly striking a road sign. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF FOUND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA: City — reporting party stated that he had located an item of drug paraphernalia in a vacant lot. The item was collected and destroyed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle, the operator was identified as James F. Hille age 51 of Salt Lake City, UT. Hille was arrested for driving suspended.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that several dogs were attacking his pigs. The reporting party stated that he shot and killed one of the dogs involved. Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised her of what had taken place.

NOVEMBER 2

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City – the reporting party said he awoke to find someone in his home. When he confronted the suspect, the suspect shot at him and fled the area. Deputies responded and found the suspect had burglarized the home. The suspect, identified as 35 year old Ruth resident Rex Odom, was later located in a local business.  When located, Odom was in possession of a stolen firearm, which he had taken from the reporting party’s home.  Odom was arrested without incident.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – the alarm was accidentally triggered.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City – a student was deemed to be a habitual truant and will be issued a citation.  A report will be completed and forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A THEFT: The reporting party said he had guests over to his home, and now he is missing personal property.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – contact was made with both subjects, who claimed they had only been arguing.  The male half left the residence without incident.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject could not be located.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claims an unknown subject used her debit card without her approval.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – a male was allegedly standing in the roadway.  The male was located and advised to stay off of the roadway.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the reporting party said there was a male subject behind her home measuring her property line.  The subject was gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed to have been threatened over The Facebook regarding a parking spot. When officers arrived, the suspect was gone.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: While conducting a follow-up investigation into several burglaries in the area, deputies spoke to 44 year old Johni Rae Nelson, of Ruth.  During the investigation, deputies located stolen property and a controlled substance.  Nelson was arrested without incident.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the reporting party thought she heard someone trying to get into her residence. The area was checked, but no one was located.

NOVEMBER 3 

REPORT OF A CUSTODY ISSUE: City – the reporting party claimed to have a custody issue involving a child from a previous relationship.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 21 year old Anna Hutchison, of McGill, was arrested for violation of the terms of her probation.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was not located.

REPORT OF VANDALISM:The reporting party claimed his tire was flat, but it was unknown if it was intentional or not.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The alarm was set off accidentally.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was checked and claimed to be okay.

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: The owner was contacted and agreed to keep the dogs quiet.

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: City – The area was checked and the dogs had stopped barking.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 43 year old Wendover resident Judy Valdez was arrested after being warned multiple times not to be in the roadway while intoxicated.
