White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Nov. 10-Nov. 19. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

NOVEMBER 10 

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the theft was deemed to be a civil issue.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – a female subject claimed to need assistance.  When she was contacted, she denied calling and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A MISSING FIREARM: City – the reporting party claimed he was missing a firearm.  He was unsure if it was stolen or just misplaced.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: The report was unfounded.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed to have received a phone call telling her she had won the lottery.  She was advised the phone call was fraudulent.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – a male reportedly fell out of an RV.  When officers arrived, the RV was gone.

NOVEMBER 11 

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – the reporting party claimed her husband had battered her.  It was later discovered the husband had left the county.  A report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

REPORT OF A MAN WITH A GUN: City – it was discovered a male had exchanged words with another male who was with his former spouse at a local bar. The report of a gun was unfounded.

NOVEMBER 12 

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject could not be located.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – it was discovered the report was delayed and the couple had only been arguing.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – an inmate in the jail threatened officers while being placed in his cell. The inmate, 39 year old Kevin Lee Kennedy, was charged with intimidating a peace officer.

REPORT OF A PAN HANDLER: City – the reporting party claimed a pan handler was harassing pedestrians near a local gas station.  The pan handler was gone when deputies arrived.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – a local motel manager trespassed two subjects from their property.  The two subjects left without incident.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and claimed he was fine.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: Dennis Mostoufi, of California, backed into a pole in a parking lot.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The reporting party claimed two subjects were trespassing.  Upon investigating, it was discovered the two subjects had erroneously gone to the wrong building.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was contacted and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A CUSTODY ISSUE: City – the reporting party wanted to report her ex-husband was late picking up their children.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: The reporting party claimed someone broke into his home and damaged property.  No items were discovered missing.  A report was completed.

NOVEMBER 13 

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC BATTERY: City -the reporting party claimed her husband battered her a week prior to contacting law enforcement.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The alarm was false.

REPORT OF A PROTECTION ORDER VIOLATION: City – the reporting party claimed to have a protection order against his son, who had been sending him emails since being served the order.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – several juveniles were allegedly creating a disturbance.  The juveniles were gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a juvenile was allegedly driving recklessly in a dirt lot.  The juvenile was contacted and advised not to drive in that manner.  His mother was also advised.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – contact was made with the couple, who were only arguing.  Both subjects separated for the day.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was contacted and said he was fine.

NOVEMBER 14 

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed a female threatened her on The Facebook.  The other party was contacted and advised not to threaten people.

REPORT OF AN ATTEMPT TO LOCATE: The subject could not be located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party said she was having issues with her father, who has dementia and refusing to go home.  The subject was contacted and eventually agreed to go home.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – the reporting party discovered their juvenile child had been sexting another juvenile.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF THREATS: The reporting party said she observed a man yell threats at her friend.  The incident was documented.

NOVEMBER 15  

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that he received a phone call from an individual who stated that he was representing Medicare. The caller requested the reporting parties’ personal information. The reporting party refused to give him his information. The reporting party was advised it was a possible scam. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that the incident was unfounded.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF THREATS: City — officer received a report of a juvenile at a local school who was making threats towards other students. The juvenile along with his parents were contacted. The juvenile was removed from the school by school officials.

REPORT OF A DEATH: Officer received a report of a person who was located inside a vehicle on highway 50 that appeared to be deceased. Officer reported that the person was identified as Raymond C Kranovich age 59 of Winnemucca . During the officers investigation it was determined that Kranovich had taken his own life.

REPORT OF A DOG BITE: Reporting party stated that she had been bitten by a dog while trying to return the dog to its owner. The reporting party received medical attention at E.R.  and the incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an indidvual came to her home and was yelling at her due to a disagreement they had. Both parties involved were contacted and advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officer located the vehicle and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer received a report of an individual who had removed his clothing and was naked inside a local business establishment. Officer contacted the person and identified him as Kyle M. Hanison age 25 of Boise ID. Officer reported that Hanison was uncooperative and was arrested for indecent exposure, battery by a prisoner, and battery on a health care provider.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of a person who was possible caring a concealed firearm. Officer contacted the person who was not armed. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the individuals involved who had engaged in a verbal argument over possibly getting divorced. The parties involved agreed to separate for the night.

NOVEMBER 16  

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he received a message from an individual over the internet. The reporting party stated that the message he received had some suggestions that the sender was going to harm herself. Officer read the message and reported that it was unfounded.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that someone had cut one of his tires on his vehicle. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: Officer received a report of an indidvual living in a trailer without water or sewer hookups. The individual was contacted and advised to make the proper utility connections to the trailer. A report will be forwarded to the building inspector.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that while her vehicle was parked and unattended it was struck by another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that a juvenile at a local school was being disruptive and had left the school without permission to do so. Officer located the juvenile who was released to his parent. A report will be sent to juvenile probation.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that someone had gained access to his banking account and had removed some of his funds. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A BATTERY: Reporting party stated that he was traveling with a friend and they had gotten into an argument and his friend had struck him. Officer contacted the friend who denied the allegation. Both parties involved agreed it was just a misunderstanding.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and contacted the operator. The operator of the vehicle advised he was waiting for a student to be released from school. No problems were located.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was running in and out of traffic. The area was patrolled, but the juvenile was not located.

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that his neighbor was causing a disturbance. The reporting party only wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: Reporting party stated that someone had parked their car in front of her gate to her driveway. Officer located the operator of the vehicle and advised him to remove it.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that a latch on her gate had been broken. Officer reported that it was unknown how the latch had been broken.

NOVEMBER 17  

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City— reporting party stated that she had an argument with her ex-husband over child custody. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — the owner of the vehicle was contacted and he was advised of the complaint. A warning was issued.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that he stayed one night at a local motel, but he was charged for two. He was advised to contact the motel owner and resolve the incident.

REPORT OF A DEATH: City — officer reported that Lori J Rosevear age 58 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City— false alarm.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that someone was banging on her back door to her residence. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

NOVEMBER 18  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual came into his place of employment and was challenging him to fight. When officers arrived the individual had left the area. Officers are attempting to locate the person.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual was harassing a server at a local restaurant. Officer contacted the person and advised him to leave the establishment.

REPORT OF DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE: The area was patrolled, but the dogs were not located.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that someone had damaged a Christmas display and had also stolen a Christmas tree star. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF  AN UNATTENDED CHILD IN THE ROADWAY: City — officer contacted the child and his parents who advised that the child had crossed the street supervised to play at a neighbor’s home. No other problems were located.

REPORT OF A VEHICLE FIRE: City — officer assisted the Ely Fire Department with a vehicle that had caught fire. The fire was extinguished.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that he had left the Ely area for a few days and when he returned he observed that someone had struck his travel trailer causing damage to it. The striking vehicle had fled the scene and had failed to report the accident. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the dog was capture and taken to the City Dog Pound.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City — reporting party stated that several days ago someone had thrown several eggs at her house. The reporting party had already cleaned the eggs off her residence. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City — reporting party stated that someone had entered into his home and stole several guns. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

NOVEMBER 19  

REPORT OF A CHILD CUSTODY PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that during a child custody exchange there had been some problems with how the child was being cared for. Officer reported that he made contact with the individuals who had picked up the child from the exchange and identified one of them as Colon H. Jackson age 26 of Ely. During the officers investigation Jackson was arrested for DUI. and driving without a valid license. The other person involved was identified as Maria G. Bliss age 30 of Ely. Bliss was arrested for child endangerment.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City — officer located an open door on a closed business. The business was checked and the door was secured.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator of the vehicle failed to yield and attempted to evade the officer. Officer reported that the person was apprehended and identified as Tristan Komnenus age 20 of Ely. Komnenus was arrested for failure to stop on police signal, child endangerment, reckless driving, failure to yield right of way, and driving without a valid license.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported while conducting an investigation on a previous crime that had occurred he was approached by an indidvual who was demanding information about another incident he was involved in. Officer reported that the person was disturbing the peace of others and was arrested. The person was identified as Nickolas Betlach age 28 of Ely. Betlach was arrested for disturbing the peace

REPORT OF A VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER: City — reporting party stated that she received a phone call from a person whom she has a protective order against. Officer contacted the person who denied that she had called the reporting party. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from a person. The person was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: False alarm.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City — officer contacted the owner of the property and advised her to clean up the garbage in her yard.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A WEATHER BALLOON NEAR THE ROADWAY: Officer received a report of a weather balloon that had landed near a local highway. The area was patrolled, but the balloon was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person who stated that she was fine and requested no assistance.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the reporting party who was having landlord problems. The reporting party stated that the landlord was refusing to repair items in her home. The reporting party was advised of her rights as a tenant. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.  New bookings Colon H. Jackson / DUI and driving without a valid license / Bail $1085.  Maria G.
