White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Nov. 20-Nov. 26. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

NOVEMBER 20  

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that someone had gained access to her banking account and had made several withdraws without her permission. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her landlord keeps calling her on the phone yelling at her and advising her he is going to evict her. The landlord was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Michael J. Rowley of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Ave I. He failed to maintain his lane of travel and struck a parked vehicle belonging to Jeremy Romero of Ely. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Officer received a report of a motorcycle accident that had occurred in a dirt lot. Officer contacted the operator of the motorcycle who stated that he was fine and requested no assistance.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that during his contact with her she was identified as Julie Buhler age 39 of Ely. Officer reported that Buhler was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Reporting party stated that he was being followed by a vehicle and that the operator of the vehicle keeps flashing his lights. Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle who stated that she was concerned about all the deer on the roadway and keep putting her bright lights on. No other problems were located.

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that was honking its horn. Officer contacted several people in the area and advised them to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she was driving her vehicle on a city roadway when an individual threw an item at her car. Officer contacted the person who had thrown the item and identified him as Ronnie J. Barton age 30 of Ely. Barton was arrested for injury to property and throwing an item at a motor vehicle.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of several people causing a disturbance at a local bar. The individuals were contacted and advised to leave the establishment.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who needed to be trespassed from a local casino. The person was contacted who was advised of the trespass notice and advised to leave the establishment.

NOVEMBER 21 

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who was yelling for help. Officer located the individual who had fallen inside his home and was unable to get up. Officer assisted the person and requested EMS to evaluate him. No other problems were located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Officer received a report of a vehicle accident that had occurred on the Bench Road. When officers arrived they located the vehicle which was off the roadway laying on its side. Officer reported that the operator was not present. Officer was later contacted by the operator of the vehicle who advised he had fallen asleep and drove off the roadway causing his vehicle to overturn. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual who had been trespassed from her place of employment had returned. When officers arrived the person had left the area.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Brandon McNary of Berkley, CA was operating a vehicle traveling on SR 487. McNary stated that a deer entered into the roadway which collided with his vehicle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN INJURED DOG: City — reporting party stated that his dog had gotten out of his yard the night before and when it was located it had been shot. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian, but it died due to its injuries. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that over the last several days someone has been entering into his home and removing items. The reporting party was advised to change the locks on his doors. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party requested advice about his juvenile daughter who was not following the rules of the home, skipping school and being disruptive. Officer provided discipline advised to the parent.

REPORT OF A FOUND BICYCLE: City — the bike was collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City — officer contacted the property owner who stated that she had left the door open on purpose to air out the house.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: City — reporting party stated that she had heard several gun shots. The area was patrolled, but no problems were located.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who was acting strange near a local park. Officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that someone had entered into a rental home he has and removed all the property inside. During the officers investigation it was determined that the renter had removed their property due to them being evicted.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Thad Spear of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Pole Line Road. Spear stated that a deer entered into the roadway colliding with his vehicle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person and reported that he was fine. He requested no assistance.

REPORT OF A MISSING JUVENILE: City — reporting party stated that her juvenile son stated that he was ill and didn’t go to school. The reporting party stated that during the day the juvenile left her home and didn’t return. Officers patrolled the area, but he was not located. Investigation into the incident continues.

NOVEMBER 22  

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: City — officer reported that the owner of the dog will be issued a citation for barking dog when he is located.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer reported that a juvenile who left his home without permission was located and returned home. A report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A LOST ITEM: City — reporting party stated that he was visiting a local casino and left a handbag in the restroom. The casino was checked and the bag was not there. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person who stated that he was fine. The person requested no assistance.

REPORT OF A FOUND ITEM: Reporting party located a crate containing power tools. The item was placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Reporting party stated that her neighbor’s dogs come onto her property and kill her cats. She spoke to the neighbor about the problem, but the neighbor became argumentative. The parties involved were contacted and advised to stay away from each other. The neighbor was advised to keep her dogs contained.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLECity — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located. REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECTCity — officer made contact with the person and reported that she was transported to E.R. for medical assistance. REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECKCity — the individual was contacted and officers reported that she was fine. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that she confronted a customer about using the machines at her place of business disrespectfully. The customer then became upset at the reporting party. The customer was contacted and advised to keep the peace.  REPORT OF AN ACCIDENTReporting party stated that she had parked her car in a local parking lot when she went to work. The reporting party stated that when she returned someone had struck her car with another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. A report was completed. REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCECity — officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved agreed to separate for the night. REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCECity — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that one of the family members was suffering from mental illness and was acting out. The family was able to work the problem out. The incident was documented. REPORT OF A POSSIBLE SEXUAL ASSAULTCity — officer received a report of a possible sexual assault on a child. Investigation into the incident continues. REPORT OF A FIGHTCity — officer contacted one of the parties involved who was still causing a disturbance. Creaghe / Turn signal required, DUI, and open container of alcohol in a vehicle/ Bail $2,450. / Arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol NOVEMBER 23  REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity— reporting party stated that an individual obtained some gas for his vehicle at a local gas station. The reporting party stated that when the person left he placed all the pump handles on the ground. The area was patrolled, but the person was not located. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that a family member who was struggling with mental illness had left the home unaltered. Officer located the person and assisted him back home. REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENTCity — Jason Dingess of Wharton Boom, WV. was operating a vehicle traveling through a local parking lot. He failed to yield to a vehicle being operated by Evelyn Gonzalez of Henderson, NV. Dingess vehicle collided with Gonzalez’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that her roommate locked her out of their home and wouldn’t allow her to get her property. The roommate was contacted who allowed the reporting party to obtain her property. REPORT OF AN ALARMCity — false alarm. REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEMCity — reporting party stated that several juveniles were digging holes and building ramps on private property. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located. REPORT OF AN ALARMCity — false alarm. REPORT OF HARASSING PHONE CALLSReporting party stated that he is receiving unwanted phone calls from an individual. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed. REPORT OF AN OPEN DOORCity — officer located an open door on a home that was under construction. During the officers investigation Davis was arrested for basic speed and DUI REPORT OF DEBRIS IN THE ROADWAYCity — officer located the items which were removed. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that she was approached by several men who asked her if she would sell them some drugs. The reporting party believes that they were trying to get her in trouble. The incident was documented. REPORT OF A DOMESTIC BATTERYCity — officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Carman Dingey age 57 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery. He is accused of battering his spouse. REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGECity — reporting party stated that someone had damaged several of the tress that are planted along Main Street. The person had pulled them out of the planter boxes. The incident was documented REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCECity — officer contacted the parties involved who stated that they had been involved in a verbal argument. The parties involved were separating for the night. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — officer received a report of an individual who was threatening to harm himself. The person was contacted who denied the allegation and stated that he was misunderstood. The individual requested no assistance and family members were present to make sure he was ok. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — officer contacted several individuals who were causing a disturbance at a local bar. The individuals were advised to leave the establishment. REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCESReporting party stated that she observed several people removing items from her yard. The individuals were contacted who were removing their own property from the area. The individual was contacted and assisted to a local motel where he was staying. REPORT OF AN ACCIDENTCity — Tyson Ashby of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Aultman Street. He stated that a deer entered into the roadway and collided with his vehicle. A report was completed. REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCESCity — reporting party stated that an individual who was staying at a local motel left behind a printer. The reporting party stated that on the printer were counterfeit dollar bills. Investigation into the incident continues. REPORT OF AN ALARMCity — false alarm. REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECKCity — officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine. REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEMReporting party stated that she bought a phone from a company in Las Vegas. The reporting party stated that the phone would not work. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem and to contact the seller of the phone. REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTCity — officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located. REPORT OF A SHOPLIFTERCity — officer received a report of a person who had stolen some alcohol from a local store. The person was identified and a report will be sent to the District Attorney for review. REPORT OF A SHOPLIFTERCity — officer received a report of a person who had stolen a food item from a local store. The person was detained and issued a citation for petit larceny. REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that an individual was sending him text messages that were threatening. The person was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.  REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCECity — officer contacted the responsible person and advised her of the complaint.  She stated that her children were jumping around and causing the disturbance. REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLECity — officer located the vehicle which was parked and unoccupied. NOVEMBER 26

 REPORT OF AN ARREST:City – a deputy stopped a vehicle for a broken tail light.  Contact was made with the driver, identified as 31 year old McGill resident Virgil Jewett.  Based on the officers observations, Jewett was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

REPORT OF A PANHANDLER: City – the area was checked, but the subject wasn’t located.

 REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: The reporting party got into an argument with her adult daughter.  Both parties were separated when officers arrived.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: The reporting party claimed to have seen a young child walking near a highway.  When the officer arrived, he found the child was with her father, who had been trying to get her back to the house.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The occupant of a residence was served with a temporary protection order and left the home without incident.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and was fine.
