White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Jan. 15-Jan. 21 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JANUARY 15 

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: The reporting party claimed his brother battered him.  The brother denied the accusation, and claimed the reporting party started the fight.  A report was completed and will be submitted to the DA for possible prosecution.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the reporting party observed a male walking who appeared to have been injured.  The subject was contacted and claimed to be fine.  The injuries were old and he said he was okay.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject attempted to charge items to his credit card.  A report was completed.

 REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – both juveniles claimed the other was harassing them and then hit them.  Contact to be made with their respective guardians.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – officers discovered it was a female upset because one of her children had locked her keys in the car.

 REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City – the reporting party complained about a vehicle parked on his private property.  The vehicle was checked and was not stolen.  The reporting party was advised he could have the vehicle towed because it was on his property.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City – the reporting party claimed he was involved in an accident at a local gas station earlier in the day.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PARKING VIOLATION: City – the vehicle was located and red-tagged for removal.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – a male subject accidentally shot himself in the hand with a pistol.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: The reporting party complained about a neighbor making noise and requested to sign a citizen’s complaint, which he was allowed.  The citation was served on the neighbor.

JANUARY 16 

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party believed there was a pilferer in her backyard.  The area was checked, but no one was located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and advised she was doing fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and advised she was doing fine.

REPORT OF A BAD CHECK: City – the reporting party claimed the check she received from her employer was returned for non-sufficient funds.  A report was completed and submitted to the DA’s Office.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City – Viola McNay, of Ely, backed from a parked position and struck a parked vehicle.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – the reporting party claimed to have heard a female screaming.  Upon arrival, they discovered it was a mother and daughter playfully wrestling.

REPORT OF AN UNATTENDED DEATH: City – Chester Bryant passed away at his home from natural causes.

JANUARY 17  

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator was identified as Brady T. Okelberry age 20 of Payson, UT. During the officers investigation Okelberry was arrested for no driver license in possession, DUI, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, littering, minor in possession of alcohol, and open container of alcohol in a vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Justin B. Alexander age 29 of Austin, TX. Alexander was arrested for possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and obstructing a police officer.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City — reporting party stated that he is receiving unwanted telephone calls from an indidvual. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person who had been evicted from his apartment. The individual was given more time by the apartment management to remove his property from the apartment.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVE:

City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person who stated that she was fine and just waiting for a friend.

REPORT OF AN ABANDONED VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle which was parked on private property. The owner of the property was advised they could have it removed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Martin Garcia age 32 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Justice Court warrant  for sales of a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance ,and conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substance act.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE SEXUAL ASSAULT: Officer received a report of a possible sexual assault that had occurred. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party requested information on how to obtain her property from a home of a person whom she used to reside with. The information was provided.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City— officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

JANUARY 18  

REPORT OF A SCAM: City — reporting party stated that he attempted to purchase an item over the internet, but believed the transaction was a scam. The reporting party stated that no money had been exchanged. The reporting party was advised to discontinue the transaction.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that Clarence Andreozzi age 51 was arrested on two Lander County Justice Court warrants, for contempt of court.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City — officer received a report of a person who was trespassing on the reporting parties’ property. Officer attempted to contact the reporting party, but she was not at home.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her ex-boyfriend had attempted to access her bank account. The reporting party stated that she had changed her account information with her bank. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual kept getting into the garbage cans at his place of business. The area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that several people came to her home wanting to obtain some property belonging to a friend of hers. The reporting party didn’t want anything to do with the individuals at her home. Officer patrolled the area, but the individuals involved had left.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she loaned her vehicle to a friend and now the friend is refusing to return the vehicle. Officer contacted the friend who returned the vehicle.

REPORT OF A FIRE: City — officer reported that an individual had placed hot ashes inside a plastic container and it had caught fire. The fire was extinguished.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that an unknown person had given him a motorcycle and he needs to check to see if it is stolen. Officers are investigating the incident.

JANUARY 19  

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who was punching walls on buildings. Officer contacted the person who had been in an argument with another individual and was frustrated. The individual was advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A MOTORIST ASSIST: Officer assisted an individual whose vehicle had ran out of gas.

REPORT OF THREATS: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over a game controller. The parties involved agreed that the controlled would be returned to the rightful owner.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS BAG: City — officer inspected the bag and reported that it had been left their by a person moving into an apartment.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Donica Herring age 41 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF A DOG BITE: Reporting party stated that he was picking his child up at a friend’s home and the friends dog bite him. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City— reporting party stated that while operating her vehicle on Great Basin Blvd she was side swiped by another vehicle. The vehicle that struck her vehicle fled the scene. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Eul Hay of Lund was operating a vehicle and was parked on Aultman Street. Jason Raymond of Ripon, CA was operating a vehicle traveling on Aultman Street. Raymond’s vehicle struck Hay’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Holly Anderson of Ely was operating a vehicle and was stopped at the intersection of Campton St and Great Basin Blvd. Nikkey Bronson of Ely was operating a vehicle and was attempting to stop behind Anderson. Due to icy road conditions his vehicle slid into Anderson’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer received a report of a person who hadn’t been seen for several days. Officer located the person inside his home and he was deceased. Officer identified the person as Michael Kelly age 64 of Ely. Kelly had died due to natural causes.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL: City — reporting party stated that she received a phone call from an unknown person wanting to pay her for a package that had been delivered to her home. The reporting party stated that no package had come to her home and she didn’t know what the caller was talking about. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF THREATS: Officer attempted to contact the reporting party, but no one would respond.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Reporting party stated that she was traveling on US 50 when she struck a semi-truck that was parked in the roadway. The individuals involved exchanged information and proceeded to leave the area. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

JANUARY 20  

REPORT OF A MOTORIST ASSIST: Officer assisted a motorist who had become stuck in the snow.

REPORT OF A MOTORIST ASSIST: City — officer assisted a semi-truck driver whose vehicle had become stuck in the snow.

REPORT OF A PERSON SELLING DRUGS: Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officer located the vehicle and reported that it was parked in the roadway, due to the snow. The owner was contacted and advised to move the vehicle from the roadway.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who denied that they had been involved in a dispute. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual knocking on peoples doors and asking them if he could come in and use their shower. The person was contacted and advised to stop disturbing people.

REPORT OF A MOTORIST ASSIST: City — officer assisted a motorist whose brakes had frozen on her vehicle she was operating.

REPORT OF A PEDESTRIAN WALKING IN THE ROADWAY: City — officer contacted the person and advised him to stay out of the roadway.

 REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officer located the vehicle and reported that it was stuck in the snow. No other problems were reported.

JANUARY 21  

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City — officer located an open door on a vacant motel. During the officers investigation he located a person inside who was identified as Ivan Vasilchenko age 24. Vasilchenko was arrested for unlawful occupancy.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: The dog was taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she needed medical assistance. She was taken to the E.R. by ambulance.

REPORT OF A DEAD EAGLE: City — the eagle was collected and turned over to N.D.O.W.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that several people came to his home and caused a disturbance. Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle who stated that he had never driven in the snow and was having a hard time operating his vehicle. No other problems were located.

REPORT OF A PERSON SCREAMING: City — the area was patrolled, but no one was located.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

REPORT OF A DEATH: Officer received a report of a female who had taken her own life. When officers arrived they located the female who was identified as Tamara M. Brown age 40 of McGill. During the officers investigation it was determined that Brown had died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
