White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Jan. 22-Jan. 28 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JANUARY 22  

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of a female walking around a neighborhood wearing a blanket. Officer located the person who had signs of hypothermia.  She was taken to the E.R. by ambulance.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual knocking on doors and windows. The area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that someone had moved several of her trash cans around and had also entered into her storage van. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: Reporting party stated that an unknown vehicle had struck his fence causing damage. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: City — officer assisted a trucking company with securing a vehicle that had been parked in the Ely area.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that he had been involved in an accident at a local gas station. He stated that he had exchanged information with the other party involved who had backed into his vehicle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person who stated that he was fine.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City —reporting party stated that a family member had taken his phone and had damaged it. Officer contacted the family member who stated that he had the phone, but it was not damaged. The phone will be returned to the owner.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that a person who was staying at his home had damaged his vehicle. The individual was contacted who stated that the damage had been accidental. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer attempted to locate the person, but was unsuccessful.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Sheila N. Armijo age 36 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

JANUARY 23 

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Both parties were contacted and both claimed to have been battered by the other one.  The deputies were unable to determine a primary physical aggressor.  Both parties agreed to separate for the day.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was contacted and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – A juvenile, of Ely, was backing from a parked position and struck another vehicle being operated by Jane Eberhardy, of Ely.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City – a student was deemed a habitual truant and was issued a citation.  A report was completed and forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The reporting party believes someone sneaks onto her property at night.  Additional patrols were requested.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH SUBJECTS: A truck was allegedly pulling another subject on a snowboard.  Contact was made with the subjects, who were preparing to drive off-road.  Both were advised not to attempt the stunt.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject opened an account using his personal identifying information.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the subject was contacted and advised he was just passing through town.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – Nickolas Betlach, 28, of Ely, was arrested during a traffic stop for an outstanding warrant.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – a male subject was trespassed from a business by the owner.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone stole her mail.  A report was completed and forwarded to the USPS.

REPORT OF THREATS: The reporting party claimed to have been receiving threats from her father’s girlfriend.  The information was reviewed, but nothing appeared threatening in nature.

JANUARY 24 

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – the residence was checked and secured.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed to be harassed by a family member via social media.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: 38 year old Battle Mountain resident Channa Jo Bryant was arrested on a warrant at a residence.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party claimed to have been in contact with a child who may have been reported missing.  The information on the child was reviewed and investigated and found not to have been a missing person.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party claimed to be receiving threats from the father of her child.  She was advised the procedure to attain a protection order.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party claimed there was a person laying in the street.  Deputies arrived and discovered 48 year old Ely resident Veronica Marie Martinez asleep in the street.  She was awoken and found to be intoxicated.  She was later arrested for being intoxicated in the roadway.

JANUARY 26 

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone stole his property.  It was later discovered that he had sold it to the suspect, who had only made partial payments.  The issue was determined to be civil.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a subject was allegedly at her former workplace harassing the employees.  The subject was trespassed from the business.

REPORT OF AN ANIMAL PROBLEM: The reporting party claimed a neighbor had a dog chained up without shelter.  Contact was made with the dog’s owner, who said he would provide the dog with a shelter.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: The reporting party claimed to hear a neighbor screaming.  Contact was made with the neighbor, who denied screaming. New Bookings: None

JANUARY 27 

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – the parties were contacted and had only been arguing.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy made contact with 24 year old Ely resident Lee Jeffrey Crumley at a local apartment complex.  It was discovered Crumley had previously been trespassed from the property.  Crumley was arrested without incident.

REPORT OF A FIGHT: City – contact was made with one of the parties, who advised he had been battered by another male subject.  The other male had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party believed a male had tampered with a female’s medication.  The female  was contacted and said no one tampered with her medication.

REPORT OF A THEFT: It was determined that it wasn’t a theft, but roommates arguing over joint property.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – the reporting party believed someone was trespassing in her neighbor’s home.  Contact was made with the neighbor, who said no one had been trespassing.

JANUARY 28 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the administrator of a local drinkery claimed a male subject was causing problems.  The male left without incident.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown subject damaged a window on his vehicle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown subject damaged a window on his vehicle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject made several purchases using his credit card.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the business was checked and found to be secure.

 REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 31 year old Daniel Chacon, of Battle Mountain.  Chacon was later arrested for driving under the influence.
