White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Jan. 22-Jan. 28 Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JANUARY 29 

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City – the vehicle was located and the driver was warned about his driving.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City – a resident was contacted and given seven days to clean up the garbage in front of their residence.

REPORT OF A PARKING VIOLATION: City – the owner of the vehicle advised he would move his vehicle.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the employee of a local business claimed a customer had been in the business and was irate.  The subject was later trespassed from the business.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was not located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party claimed to have found possible drug paraphernalia while cleaning.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE: City – the reporting party believed a child had been abused. The investigation revealed the child and a sibling had been playing, which resulted in a bruise on the child.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was checked, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – the reporting party claimed his girlfriend’s mother, who is dating his father, threatened him and his girlfriend.  The incident was only verbal in nature.  All parties were advised to be civil to each other.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and escorted to the hospital for treatment.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The parked vehicle was located and the driver claimed to be waiting for a friend, who soon arrived.

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party claimed to have gotten a phone call from an unknown person requesting her personal identifying information to repay a debt. The reporting party gave said information, and since then her identity had been stolen.  A report was completed and she was advised to contact her bank.

JANUARY 30 

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and escorted to the hospital.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party believed an ex-employee may have stolen from customers while conducting business in their homes.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City – the reporting party discovered damage to his father’s residence, which was under construction.  The suspect later returned to the scene to apologize for the damage.  The owner of the home and the suspect agreed to handle the issue civilly.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party discovered an unknown suspect had fraudulently used his credit card number.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party discovered tools were missing from his workplace.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed a male customer had made threats toward her while she was at work.  She was allowed to sign a citizen’s complaint for harassment, which will be served on the male when he is located.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: The area was checked, but nothing unusual was located.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown subject was in his rental unlawfully.  The building was checked, but no one was found.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: The reporting party claimed to have left town and returned to find someone had entered her home and stolen some property. The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City – a vehicle was reportedly parked in a parking lot with the back hatch open.  The owner was contacted and verified nothing was missing.  The vehicle was then closed and locked.

JANUARY 31 

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City – deputies checked the area, but couldn’t locate any loud music.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed a subject stole his wallet.  Video surveillance of the area showed evidence of the theft.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City – a student was deemed a habitual truant and will be issued a citation for truancy.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party claimed a student at a local school threatened a teacher.  The investigation continues and a report will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 41 year old, Courtney Davis, of Ely, was arrested for several outstanding warrants.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed a subject contacted him, via The Facebook, and offered to assist him in securing a loan. It was later discovered to be fraudulent.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the area was checked, but the subject was not located.

FEBRUARY 1  

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from an individual. Officer observed the messages and reported that they were not threatening. The reporting party was advised to block the number from her phone.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who had a large accumulation of garage at her residence. The indidvual was contacted and advised to clean up the garbage.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had stalled while traveling through a local parking lot. Due to the vehicle stalling the operator struck a sign located in the lot. No damage was reported.

FEBRUARY 2 

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party believed strange things were afoot in an apartment.  The building was checked and everything appeared normal.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed another female had made threatening remarks to her via voicemail.  She was advised on the procedure to obtain a protection order.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – the reporting party claimed a gun.  The juvenile was contacted and it was discovered to be a toy gun.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the subject was located and was just waiting for a co-worker.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City – the vehicle was located and the driver was taking a nap.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed to be having issues with a neighbor.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subjects were located and claimed to be fine.

FEBRUARY 3   

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the subject was located and claimed to be looking for a friend’s apartment.  He was advised to try again during the day.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the subject wasn’t located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed two subjects were trying to take property that wasn’t theirs.  The subjects were located and it was discovered that they were in the process of repossessing a vehicle for a car dealership.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party claimed a male was knocking on several doors in an apartment complex.  The male was located and claimed to be looking for a friend.  He was advised to return when he knew the friend’s address, not to randomly knock on doors.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed a male was lying in her front yard.  Contact was made with the male, who claimed to be taking a nap.  He was advised to move along.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTS: City -two subjects were seen alongside a highway.  They were contacted and claimed to be trying to leave town.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone stole her medication.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTS: City – two people were seen in a local store, possibly shoplifting.  The subjects were gone when deputies arrived.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed an ex-boyfriend was taking her property.  It was discovered the property belonged to the ex-boyfriend.

FEBRUARY 4 

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The alarm was set off accidentally by the owner.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Contact was made with the subject and he was fine.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City – the reporting party discovered a window on her vehicle was broken.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a male subject accidentally broke a bottle in a local store and the manager was upset with the situation.  The male apologized and left the store without incident.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City – the subject could not be located.

REPORT OF A MISSING JUVENILE: City – the juvenile was located near his home.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone stole her purse.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A BRUSH FIRE: City – a small campfire was located, along with a male juvenile who had been consuming alcohol.  The fire was extinguished and the male was taken into custody.
