White Pine County Sheriff’s Blotter Report

Submitted by the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office for Feb. 19-Feb. 25. Information and spellings of names contained in the blotter are as released by the WPCSO. Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

FEBRUARY 19 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The reporting party complained that his neighbor had put a large pile of dirt on his property.  The neighbor was contacted and agreed to move the dirt.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed some of her mail was sent to a previous address and the current resident refuses to give it to her.  The current resident was contacted and claimed to not know anything about the mail.

FEBRUARY 20 

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the alarm was accidentally triggered by an employee.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party relayed information that a juvenile had communicated multiple threats to injure or kill persons at a local school.  This information was confirmed through other sources.  The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Elko Juvenile Detention Facility.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A THEFT: The reporting party claimed several people stole numerous items from her property.  The alleged suspects were contacted and provided proof of ownership of the items.

REPORT OF A MUSIC DISTURBANCE: City – the offender was contacted and agreed to turn the music down.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN: City – the reporting party claimed that her vehicle was struck by another vehicle, which then fled the scene.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 35 year old Utah resident Tiffany Kay Thompson was arrested during a traffic stop for driving with a suspended license.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the area was checked, but the subject wasn’t located.

REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED DRIVER: The vehicle was located parked in a rural area.  Contact was made with the occupant, identified as 29 year old McGill resident Carisa Tucker.  Tucker was not in actual physical control of the vehicle, but was intoxicated and in possession of a firearm.  She was arrested without incident.

FEBRUARY 21 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – an employee of a local business reported a male subject sleeping in a vehicle in the business’ parking lot.  The male was contacted and agreed to leave.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Contact was made with the subject, who claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: The reporting party claimed a door was open on a vacant building.  The building was checked and the door was secured.

REPORT OF A VIOLATION OF A PROTECTION ORDER: The reporting party claimed an adverse party had violated and order of protection via The Facebook. The posts were reviewed and found to not be in violation of the order.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City – the reporting party claimed two people were going into an apartment that was not theirs.  Contact was made with the two people, identified as 32 year old Ely resident Bryan Arthur Fitzner Jr, and 27 year old Ely resident Tiana Marie Wilson.  Both Fitzner and Wilson were later arrested for trespassing.  During a search incident to arrest, drug paraphernalia and residue was discovered in possession of Wilson.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party discovered unknown charges on his credit card that he did not make.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party provided information to an unknown person who wanted to refund money directly to the reporting party’s bank account. He later learned the subject was trying to withdraw money from his account.  The transaction was cancelled and the reporting party was advised to be more vigilant with her personal information in the future.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – the reporting party claimed her juvenile son was battered by another child whilst at school.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – contact was made with the subject involved, and it was determined that there were no threats made.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – a deputy heard a couple having an argument.  When he approached, they went their separate ways.  While still in the area, he heard a female yelling.  She was identified as 49 year old Ely resident Teresa McCutcheon.  After being warned several times to not yell and use tumultuous language, she was arrested for disturbing the peace.

FEBRUARY 22  

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and determined it was a verbal argument. During the officers contact with the parties involved one of them was identified as Rebecca A. Klippert age 46 of Ely. Klippert was arrested on a probation violation.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — False alarm.

REPORT OF DEBRIS IN THE ROADWAY: City — officer contacted the responsibly party who was doing work in the area. He stated that he would clean up the items from the road.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Kaitlynn Knudsen a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. As she did so she collided into a parked vehicle being operated by Skylar McQueen also a juvenile of Ely. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: Officer patrolled the area and located the vehicle parked and unoccupied. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had stolen some of his wood that he sells to customers. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Doug Harwood of Ely was operating a vehicle and was stopped at a stop sign. Spencer Jones of Ely was operating a vehicle and was traveling behind Harwood. Due to icy road conditions Jones was unable to stop his vehicle and collided into the rear of Harwood’s vehicle. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Jeffrey Sparks of Ely was operating a vehicle travelling on CR 44A. As he entered into a cure in the roadway he lost control of his vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and roll. A report was completed and Sparks was issued a citation for due care.

REPORT OF THREATS: Reporting party stated that an individual who lives on a section of her property had threatened her today. Officer is investigated the incident.

FEBRUARY 23 

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: Contact was made with the owner of the property and he was advised to clean the area or a citation would be issued.  The owner said he would comply.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City – the reporting party claimed a vehicle had been parked at a local apartment complex for several days.  The vehicle was checked and found to be a stolen vehicle from Las Vegas.  The vehicle was towed to be processed for evidence.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party claimed to have been harassed stemming from a previous relationship with the alleged suspect.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The residence was checked and cleared.  Deputies secured the unsecured door which triggered the alarm.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The reporting party claimed to be having an issue with a male subject and wanted him trespassed from her property.  The male was contacted and advised he was trespassed.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: Contact was made with the subject who claimed he was not suicidal and had no plans of hurting himself.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the subject left prior to law enforcement arrival.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the subjects left prior to law enforcement arrival.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: The reporting party claimed a vehicle was driving on her mother’s property and the driver was not supposed to be there.  Contact was made with the owner of the property, who advised the driver of the vehicle did have permission to be on the property.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE ARREST: City – during a traffic stop, the officer spoke to a juvenile passenger and ascertained he was on probation and out past curfew.  When the juvenile exited the vehicle, paraphernalia was discovered where he had been sitting.  The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to his guardian.  A report was completed and will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

FEBRUARY 24 

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy observed a subject whom he knew to be under the age of 21 loitering in front of a drinking establishment.  The officer made contact with the male, identified as 20 year old Ely resident Jordan Cameron.  Cameron was later arrested for minor in consumption of alcohol.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 23 year old McGill resident Benjamin Anderson Miller. Miller was later arrested for driving under the influence.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City – the area was checked, but the suspected vehicle wasn’t located.

FEBRUARY 25 

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the building was checked and it was discovered an employee accidentally triggered the alarm.

REPORT OF A VAGRANT: City – the subject was contacted and discovered not to be a vagrant, but someone doing yard work.

REPORT OF PUBLIC NUISANCE: The owner of the property was contacted and given two weeks to clean the property or a citation would be issued.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN HAIL: City – a deputy observed a subject who appeared to be hailing him.  When he made contact, the subject began to use loud and tumultuous language.  The subject was identified as 58 year old Texas resident Larry Mitchell Crouch.  After multiple warnings, Crouch was arrested for disturbing the peace.
