FEBRUARY 26 

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City – the reporting party observed a car door with the door left open. The car was checked and the owner was contacted and everything appeared normal.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party received a phone call from a male claiming to be a representative of a computer company and requesting money to install an anti-virus program on her computer.  The reporting party provided her banking information and later discovered her bank account had been depleted.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: The reporting party located what they believed was a body in a gravel area near the highway.  Upon examining the photos from the reporting party, it was found to be a mannequin.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF FIREWORKS: The area was checked, but no fireworks were observed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and was fine.

FEBRUARY 27 

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: The subject was gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City – Roland Gene Disanza, of Ely, struck a power box while navigating a drive-through at a local bank.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed a family member was taking property from their deceased parent’s home.  The issue was deemed civil.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – deputies were unable to locate the subject.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City – the reporting party came home and claimed to have seen someone running from the back of her house. There were no signs of anything missing from the house. The area was checked, but no one was located.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – the reporting party claimed another minor was in possession of, and did willfully and knowingly use an electronic device to transmit or distribute, a sexual image of the reporting party.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 28 year old Nickolas Betlach, of Ely, was arrested at his residence for an outstanding probationary warrant.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the subject was gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF A BATTERY: City – the reporting party claimed 43 year old McGill resident Jeffrey Buhler knocked on his door. When the reporting party opened the door, Buhler entered the residence and battered the reporting party.  Buhler was located and admitted to the actions.  Buhler was arrested for battery and burglary.

FEBRUARY 28 

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was contacted and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and required medical assistance.  An ambulance was dispatched and rendered aid.

REPORT OF AN ANIMAL PROBLEM: The reporting party claimed a horse was being neglected. Contact was made with the owner who had asked a friend to take care of the horse when she was unable to do so.  The owner agreed to take better care of the animal.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – John Nowaskey was backing from a parked position and struck an unoccupied vehicle on the roadway.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ABANDONED VEHICLE: The vehicle was parked, not abandoned.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: The reporting party claimed his ex-wife has been harassing him.  The deputy will attempt to locate the ex-wife.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City – the victim claimed someone stole his car from a local motel parking lot.  The vehicle was located and the suspect, a juvenile, was located a short distance away.  The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to her guardian.  A report will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

March 1  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an intoxicated person laying in the roadway. Officer contacted the person who stated that he had been struck by a vehicle. During the officers investigation it was determined that the person was intoxicated and had fallen down in the roadway and continued to lay there. The person was identified as Gregory A. Haynes age 38 of Ely. Haynes was arrested for intoxicated person in a roadway.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who was truant from school. The juvenile when located will be issued a citation for truancy and a report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had recently moved out of his home, but he keeps returning. The individual was contacted who was removing his property. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF A FIGHT: City — officer received a report of a fight that had taken place at a local school. The juveniles involved were contacted and interviewed on what had taken place. A report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she allowed a friend to live at her home for several months, but now wants the friend to leave. The reporting party was advised to follow the eviction process.

REPORT OF ELDERLY ABUSE: Officer received a report of an elderly person possibly being abused or taken advantage of by the person’s landlord. Officer report that the parties involved were contacted and interviewed and no problems were located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer attempted to locate and contact the person, but was unsuccessful.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Calvin R. Peterson age 58 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant. During his arrest he was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: City — reporting party stated that she had lost her backpack and another person had located it and was trying to get in contact with her to return it. The reporting party was inquiring on how to accomplish that. She was provided with several ideas on how to get her backpack back.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — officer reported that while patrolling the Ely area he observed a vehicle leave the roadway and strike a building. During the officers investigation the operator of the vehicle was identified as Nicholas J. Clark age 21 of Ely. Officer reported that Clark was arrested for driving on a sidewalk and DUI.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City – Colton Joy, of Washington, backed into a vehicle operated by Colton Joy, of Nevada.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown person stole her credit cards.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: The reporting party claimed his windshield was broken from a rock from another vehicle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City – a vehicle was left unattended and rolled through a parking lot, striking another vehicle.

REPORT OF A SHOPLIFTER: City – a local business claimed a juvenile had shoplifted.  The claim was substantiated with video from the store.  The juvenile denied attempting to steal anything.  A report was completed and submitted to Juvenile Probation for referral.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – John Wilcox, of Ely, was stopped in the roadway, preparing to turn, when he was struck from behind by Joseph Warr, of Ely.  Warr was issued a citation for following too closely.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject wasn’t located.

REPORT OF AN UNATTENDED DEATH: Robert Benson passed away at him home from natural causes.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The vehicle wasn’t located.

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE INTOXICATED DRIVER: City – the vehicle was located, but the operator didn’t exhibit any signs of impairment.

 REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City – the occupant of the home was contacted and apologized for the music being loud.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City – the building was checked and everything appeared normal.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject had used her credit card number without her permission.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole a realty sign from in front of a residence for sale.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City – the reporting party lent her vehicle to a friend, but now she couldn’t get a hold of the friend.  The friend was located and agreed to return the truck.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – Cameron Lewis, of Ely, was exiting a private drive, when he was struck by Shelby Malmstrom, of Arizona, due to sliding in the freshly fallen snow.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – it was discovered the two parties were having a snowball fight.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City – Lee Anderson, of Ely, was backing from a parked position and struck a vehicle operated by Laura Tellechea, of Ely.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – it was accidentally set off by an employee.

REPORT OF A WARRANT ARREST: 49 year old Garry Allen, of McGill, was arrested at his residence for an outstanding warrant.

REPORT OF A THEFT: The reporting party claimed an acquaintance stole property from his home while he was out of town.  The investigation continues. REPORT OF FIREWORKS:The area was checked, but nothing was located.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – an employee of a local business claimed a male was causing a disturbance in the business and was refusing to leave.  Deputies arrived and the male subject left without incident.
