Science Fair results in
The results are in for the White Pine County School District's budding young scientists. The district science fair was held Feb. 20 and 21 at the Bristlecone Convention Center.

Elementary school results were -- kindergarten: individual first Cade Crookshanks, second Zeke Vinson, and third Jessie Leyba; second grade individual, first Kevin Rogan, second Noelle Wurtz, and third Mallory Birch; third grade individual, first Josie Jefferson; second Shuree Finicum, and third Travis Crawford; fourth grade individual, first Scott Rogan, second Taylor Adams, and third Christopher Hill; fifth grade individual, first McKenna Windous, second Madison Trimble, and third Miranda Rodger; sixth grade individual, first Alexander Hill, second Garrett Williams, and third Anna Nicholes; third & fourth grade groups, first Aria Beaupre and Laura Fillman, second Caleb Baker, Christian Conrad and Jonah Gonder, and third Britney Carson, Ashlyn Huntington and Jamie Wines; fifth grade groups, first Alisha Large and Jerilyn Ogden, second Aymee Felix and Amelia Herder, and third Breanna Conrad and Taryn Childs; sixth grade groups, first Alyshia Baker, Lindsey Fillman and Sandra Villarreal, second Levi Knudson and Hector Torres, and third Thomas Bischoff & Douglas Fullmer; class project champion, Mrs. Marich's fourth grade; class project first place, Mrs. Whaley third grade; class project first place, Ms. Freeman fifth grade.

High school results were: engineering, first place, Ben Maes; first place group, Adam Summers and Gabor Visnovitz; second place group, Sara Robertson and Dillon Neubauer; third place group, Tylar Laity and Katie O'Flaherty; physical science first place, Natasha Henroid; physical science second place, Justine Williams; physical science third place Michael Wise; biological science first place, Brandon Hill; grades 7-12 overall grand champion, Brandon Hill; grades 7-12 overall reserve champions, Adam Summers and Gabor Visnovitz; grades 7-12 overall judge's choice, Ben Maes.

WPSD also held an invention competition in conjunction with the Lemelson Young Inventors Challenge that is held at the state level. Results were: group first place, Austin Brinkerhoff and Monty Moore; K-6 first, Christopher Hill; K-6 second, Ashlee Humphries; K-6 third, Alexander Hill; 7-12 third, Brandon Hill.

" My heartiest congratulations to those who participated!!! I would like to especially congratulate Ben Maes for his first place finish and overall Judges choice in the 7th - 12th grade category. I'm glad to see some real talent coming from White Pine High! Good job everyone!!! "
